PS1 Emulation -FF7

So I started playing FF7 (using the discs) on my PS3. The game works fine, except when it plays a cutscene, it freezes, plays a few frames, and repeats until the end of the cutscene. Is this because I am playing it on a PS3, or could it be damage to the disc. I figure it is the PS3 because if it is the disc, why would only the cutscenes not work properly?

check your emulation settings first.

It says that PS/PS2 upscaler is set on normal and PS/PS2 Smoothing is off.

Sounds like the disc is damaged. If you have a scratch where the movie is, it'll cause the game to freeze or crash. I'd suggest putting the $10 down to get the PSN version - it's a lot more convenient (especially if you have a PSP) and the load times are a little better as well.

I played through FFVII on my PS3 back in December and it worked just fine, didn't have a single issue. It's probably your discs.
