I've manage to snag a couple of 'factory sealed/brand new' PS1 games.
one of them being star ocean the second story.
The white sony factory sticker seal is still intact & there's even a plastic hanging tab attacted at the back of the game.
however,
both games aren't incased with a plastic wrappings that have the Y folds on the top and bottom of the game (a usual characteristics for factory sealed items- excluding tin contains aka. RE4 premium, FFXII)

but instead they have that plastic linear edges along the sides that are quite similar to store resealed games - previously opened/unwrapped - then sealed again.

Just wondering any of your guys thoughts on this:
Factory sealed or Resealed?
-I've asked the seller - & he doesn't know either.

here are some pics:

Sorry if this is a more of a rant rather than a question - however, I'd just like to know what i'm dealing with. thnx.

[EDIT]
Alright-
So there's 2 types of seals? one with the Y folds & another similar to mine?
Well to be honest - I've been pondering about that second Y fold since both games don't 'feel' like the regular plastic wrappings I usually get from current resealed games.
Those usually are thin & usually are loose to the touch - these however feel thinker & very Tightly wrapped...

jputahraptor mentioned that a few budget titles had this type of seal -

well what about THIS GAME??
PERSONA: REVELATIONS - my other BIG SNAG
since that's the other game I manage to snag as well.... & hopefully some of you seen it in this type of wrapping (brand new)

I apologize if I seem unappreciative regarding my GREAT finds - I honestly do appreciate both games - however, I was led to believe both were factory sealed/ brand new games & it would just be a great let down to me if they were only resealed items.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts & opinions - I really do appreciate it!
- Guy.

I may be incorrect, but I believe that most if not all games that are "factory sealed" come with the plastic with the folds on the edges that you mentioned. I'm pretty sure that game would be considered "resealed."

I bought Star Ocean the Second Story new and I remember the wrapping was totally the ones with the folds on the edges. I believe it's resealed too.

I have to agree with the other posters, I used to collect sealed PS1 games and only a few budget titles ever had that style shrinkwrap, not star ocean. Although if the security seal is still unbroken it's technically not incorrect to say it's new since there's almost no way to take the game out and play it without breaking it.

The holoseal looks like it has a bubble in it which means it was opened and "restuck" back on the top. It may have been a display copy where the games were slid out carefully and then put back in and resealed. That's how my xenogears looked that was resealed but with the holosticker intact.

Well if I am not mistaken there were two types of seals on playstation games....The Y fold and the Seam like you have there. Now when I worked at Kmart LONG ago I believe certain games come sealed like that. Even if it is resealed...the Security strip has not been broken...AND Star Ocean is an AWESOME find!

That's a misconception many people make on factory sealed snes and ps1 games, thinking that all snes games have vertical seal or y seal for ps1. It all depends on where the game is manufactured or depends on publisher. Several factory sealed snes have horizontal strips for game maufactured at Mexico rather then Japan's vertical line and several ps1 games have plastic linear line on top like Hoshigami. Since there is no standard in shrinkwraping policies it can be difficult to verify the legitmace of "factory sealed game". You could usually tell it's legitmacy by the company shrinkwrapping methods like those crappy sealed Konami ds game. Sure, they look like crappy resealed game, but that how they shrinkwrap their games. Most Nintendo published games that incased in plastic such as ds, gamecube and wii games are heat sealed.

Remember this game is published by enix, that's well before Square own that company, so they might have diffrent shrinkwraping style.

It best to consult experts in video game collections such as http://www.digitpress.com/

Couple of ebay auction up on star ocean second story. It look legit too me. I'm not sure about that bubble in your sticker it might indict a reshrink of gut or display copy or botch shrinkwrap job the company

AHHH.
Thank you so much for that clarification - & yes I am wondering thoes bubbles in the wrapp however, my other game has the exact same wrappings minus the bubbles

Speaking from personal experience, your Persona is originally factory sealed, not resealed. I had about 6 a couple years ago and they were all sealed like that.

Nope, you got ripped off. In fact, I think those are bootlegs. You should send them to me so the police don't think you had anything to do with it.
Who cares? Aren't you going to play the games?
He could sell these, buy opened copies of the games and still have more than $100 left over cocaine and prostitutes.
Who cares? Aren't you going to play the games?
Acutally, I think he's going to make a bonfire out of them.

Hi, I remember I was going to buy Star Ocean a few years ago from a store. It was brand new and it was sealed like the pics. It came from the factory looking like that.

I regret not buying it because they had mulitple copies for only $12.99, all brand new factory sealed. At least I got Grandia factory sealed there for only $9.
