Hey,
Does anyone here use any other third party controllers as a secondary controller. Also if anyone owns one, which one, do you like it and would you recommend it.
I will still mainly play with my normal dual shock 3 but for the little time I actually have 2 players playing I am having difficulties dropping $60.

Any thoughts?

Don't go third-party on controllers. Ever.

Wait until monday, Amazon might have a sale on them. Radio Shack had them for $30 last black friday, too.

C'mon, use your CAG instincts! :p

Hehe, Ya I'm definitely a CAG. I almost had a new Sony one on Kijiji for $35 but unfortunately had to leave for the weekend and he sold it to someone else. I'm keeping my eyes open for another such opportunity

I would agree not to go third-party on controllers. The Sony controllers are worth the money, but you should be able to find them cheaper.

gamedealdaily.com has Dual Shock 3s for 30 and Six Axis for 25 (before shipping). However, those are used and I'm not sure that's the best deal out there either.

I bought a third party analog ps1 controller in college. I used it for 10 minutes before getting back into the car and returning it for a dual shock 1. It's been almost 10 years and I've never bought another third party controller since (except for SF IV, but that doesn't count).

Ya never go third party. All third party controllers on any system that I recall playing with are always god awful. There usually clunky as well and don't fit your hand as well as the name brand ones.

I got a nyko for $5 and actually like it better than the dual shock 3. the DS3 is not formed for human hands...it's the same shape since ps one....wth!??!?!?!

The logitech PS3 controller is pretty decent. Its about $20 new. Functionality, only major difference from Dual Shock 3 is lack of motion functions. Also, cannot charge with USB cable, but requires 2 AA batteries which last a long time. Used one for a long time without any problems. Only got rid of because I wanted motion functions. Well worth it if you just want a second cheap controller.

If you play lots of PS1 games, I would definitely go for the Logitech since it can emulate Analog controls in D-Pad only games (e.g., Final Fantasy VII - Game is so much more enjoyable with Analog controls). I'm really thinking about picking one up again for this reason alone. I'm hoping a PS3 update will fix this though.

gotta agree with this 3rd party shit in my experience is always shitty. same thing with memory cards when they were relevant.

Ugh third party ps1 memory cards were the runny $hits. I can't tell you how many NBA Live saves were lost on my EA Sports card.

amazon + prime discount/shipping = best bet.

That's a pretty good price, if you can do it on Monday, though, wait and see which one turns out better.
