PS3 Ni No Kuni (used) BBY in store $21.50 with @Gamer coupon + unlocked 10% off

CAGiversary!
My local BBY had a pristine used copy for $49.99 (lol) so I had the cashier adjust the price to the BBY online price of $34.99 and then used the $10 off used game @gamer coupon. When they put in my reward zone info it took the 10% off (another $3.50) off the price before the coupon so total came to $21.49+tax. Not too shabby don't know if this is YMMV since some may think its double dipping but I figured it wasn't since its their own online price. Hope this helps someone.
Most are definitely going to call this double dipping, but the game is worth the effort if you can get it.
Except it really isn't double dipping. The $10 off coupon would work online if you get the digital mag, making it the same price online. Plus the website doesn't say "online only" for the $35 price, so it should be $35 in store as well.

If they price-matched Gamestop and used a coupon I can see the double dipping, but that is not the case here.

It doesn't work online (adding the $10 @Gamer code removes the 10% off from Gamer's Club) so it is entirely possible that they might not allow it in store. That being said, considering the system did it I don't think anyone will get any pushback.

PMing a price (even if it is BBYs online price) is considered a PM. So by the rules it should be a denial.

But again don't not try because of this as you could probably get it. Just don't think you SHOULD get the PM+ coupon.

I can't believe that PMing their online price still counts considering the BBYs near me are awful at lowering used game prices which they seem to never do. I figured I'd throw it on here though hopefully some other people get as lucky as me then.

Not really, price match by their own terms says "If you find a lower price on a qualifying product at a local retail competitor's store or a designated major online retailer, we will match the price."

Best Buy is not a competitor of Best Buy. Every single price on Bestbuy.com should be the same exact price in a Best Buy store, the only exception to this rule is if it states "Online Only".

You might be right now. I know their official stance previously was any PM (even to their own website) was a PM (I frequent the BBY forums).

But the latest thread alluded to allowing it. Albeit these are newer mods that were hired not too long ago though.

Here's the newest thread:

A few years ago when Best Buy started the Upgrade and Save DVD program I wanted to get Office Space. This was before it was any movie $9.99 and up, but was for select movies, Office Space being one of those. The website listed the movie as $7.99, but in store it was $9.99. No where on the website did it say Online Only, but the store refused to match it, saying it was the $5 off or the $2 off from the PM.

This made no sense to me, because I was not matching a competitor but Best Buys own price. I called and spoke with corporate when I was in the store, they agreed, a Best Buy price is a BB price. They even spoke to the store but the store still refused. After talking with the rep on the phone they gave me like $20-25 in rewards, at this point I was in the store for around an hour or so.

They then transferred me to an in store specialist who also agreed I was 100% correct and personally called the store and made them sell me the movie for $3. I know it was only $2, but it turned into the principle. The store even refused to listen to corporate at first which blew my, and the person on the phones, mind.

Long story short, according to an experience I had 2 or so years ago this was always the case, but some stores like to make up their own rules.

i would do this but i told myself I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GAME just rent them off gamefly or wait till 10 bucks or under due to the fact im sitting on 500 ps2 games what are worthless and around 300 ds 200psp games

Except that it is considered separate internally as it is with most retail chains. That's retail logic for you, rarely makes any sort of human logic sense.

I tried to tell myself that and then I started to find clearance games and other great deals, now I've got over 20 PS3 games less than two months after buying the system. That and I'm really bad about finishing games in a timely fashion, or run into massive anxiety of picking something out of the hundreds of unplayed games I have; either way I just end up going to play BF3 or LOL/DOTA2 before I shook those.

This is the exact opposite of what was said on the forum boards.

Two different instances said that the BBY.com price can vary from in store. A few posts were for @gamer coupons and PMing the website (this was during the bullet storm drop and a couple other times) . Most were DotD items in which they said DotD wasn't eligible for PM, but should be that price in store (if that makes sense....). The second is for clearance pricing. They made it abundantly clear that clearance pricing should not be PMed in store (this was when they had the $8 Cabella bundle, $35 B:AC CE etc).

And no it isn't rare for BBY to have multiple opinions on the same policy (sadly). But I know the forums are run by corporate. Not that that has the ultimate say as the store manager is left with all the power in the BBY hierarchy

dang just got it at gamestop with the birthday coupon for 27 something
maybe i wont return it just for the couple dollars coz i had to count the gas money for best buy and the time

Anyone who posts in this topic just to say they are not going to use their coupon for this should really consider private messaging a fellow CAG before the month ends. I'd really like to grab this.

Yeah, I would be all about this price but I don't have whatever upgraded thing that gets you these coupons.

Me either. I got excited when I saw this topic and was quickly disappointed when I found out my gamer membership expired. So now I'm hoping someone will pm me their $10 off code if they don't plan on using it.

Can you use the coupons online? I remember someone saying the March coupons could be used online but i don't see anything during checkout.
I know in the past I was able to use a coupon from the digital magazine online.
i pm'ed you the code

I would be super grateful if someone would PM me an online code if they aren't gonna use it. For some reason i stopped receiving the digital version and they kept sending me the physical which i can't find now. My subscription also ends June 1st.

That mod didn't answer the question though, he just said "however, if the game that you are purchasing is on sale at our stores then you should be able to use your coupon on the purchase".

I think the mod in question was just trying to satisfy the customer in the situation (which happened to be me) than to try to establish policy. I was just irritated to no end of the difference of prices from .com and retail, as I only had the retail coupon at my disposal (which restricts online purchases). Given that the BB website and store prices on their used games are usually the same 99% of the time, to have this limitation was beyond frustrating. If I had the digital subscription, I would have been able to get the game with the price that I wanted without a hitch....

They did make things right with me after my post by ordering a new copy of COD:BO II for the price that I was trying to get the used copy in store. If they are not willing to price match Ni No Kuni to the website price, I would recommend that you post in the BB forums and let them know the same...

I don't think the digital coupons work online either. I think the coupons are really only meant to be used in store.

the 10% gcu and $10 coupon code wont stack online. it went from $32 to $25.

after tax and free shipping its $26.58 for me. I will wait. gamefly might be dropping this off in a couple months for $18 or so.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game ran up for the $34.99 price....

PMing their website isn't PMing, it's almost always already in the system when they ring it up, my store never puts prices on the shelf but have always rang up as the sale price. then the coupon on top of the sale is great.

the game ni no kuni is pretty good, best looking jrpg i've played with the art style and stuff. im not too into jrpgs but this one isn't bad, has lots of content, and the art style is unique and fun to look at.

The issue is prices should be the same so no need for pm & the 10% issue should be fixed but BB is taking to long.
The issue is prices should be the same so no need for pm & the 10% issue should be fixed but BB is taking to long.
Yes they SHOULD be the same (with the exception of clearance items), but the latest interpretation of the policy is that if they have to PM the website then it is considered a PM as it plainly states "online prices may vary from instore prices".

Just letting people know what should be expected.

BBY is a very segregated company. The online is a whole separate entity in most considerations and even store to store is very separate in some regards.
I have the $10 off coupon code if anyone wants to buy the game online. First to quote this gets it.
Ooo, ooo, me please and thank you.

Thanks OP, I ordered a copy using Expressway, like an OMS, in-store with my physical coupon. $21.49 + tax after 10% Gamer's Unlocked discount and $10 off coupon.

How can you use the code online? I tried entering the sku for the promo code on the coupon but it does not take. Also says on it cannot be used online or for in store pickup. Can you only use the digital magazine code online?

All I can tell you is that the code so graciously shared with me was an alphanumeric jobby that was clearly a promotional code.

Digital magazine - 2 coupons in your email
- one to print for in-store
- one online promo code

Physical magazine - 1 coupon
- one that can only be used in-store
