It can be a 7200 I'm pretty sure, although this is the best HD I found: http://www.hgst.com/hard-drives/mobile-drives/9.5mm-mobile-hard-drives/travelstar-5K1500 1.5TB

About $125: http://www.amazon.com/HGST-Travelstar-2-5-Inch-Internal-0J28001/dp/B00EDIU5IW

Was $114 a few months ago.

This is the one I'm using in my Macbook Pro right now, but should also work in the PS4, it has 7200rpm.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0097LG9U8/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - About $90

Edit: 7k1000 is only $75 here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=891232&Q=&is=REG&A=details

Thanks again. Think I'm still sticking with the 1.5 tb mentioned earlier. Especially since I have some Amazon credit

Yeah, I wish there were more options for HDs that are bigger than 1 TB.

I contemplated purchasing the same 1.5 TB HD, but the price difference just didn't seem worth it at the moment.

Are there really not 3TB HDD right now? 1TB is only doubling the included HDD. I went from a 60GB to a 1TB on my PS3...

So I ended up buying the 1.5 tb hard drive with prime shipping (big factor especially where I live). Wish it was a bit cheaper but I don't mind the price overall for the space. Thanks for the help!

Keep this thread going for fellow cags!

I picked this up last week from a local computing store for £40 ($60)

Hopefully the SSHD makes a noticeable difference

That is impressive. Now I'd I only have that and 1.5 space.
Not that impressive. A good 7200RPM drive, such as a WD Scorpio Black, gives a reasonable performance boost over the stock 5400RPM drive. Larger cache will help on the Scorpio Black. If the files aren't in the hybrid SSD portion of the drive, it'll still have to hit the 5400RPM mechanical drive for the data and be slow.

The PS4 being SATA2 or SATA3 should see a performance boost from any recent drive that's SATA2 or SATA3. A SSD might even be a huge benefit to a PS4, though you'd need to spend $500 on a drive like a Crucial M500 960GB to get any reasonable space increase on the 500GB drive in the PS4.
