I have no idea what DigDug is
giphy.gif

There is? Guess I will keep it then, thanks.
Actually, it looks like there's 3 endings per character:

There are three endings for each character. You will automatically unlock one for beating the game and the other two are obtained by equipping different swords.

To unlock the second ending, you will need to equip The Thread of Fate and Descent Into Misery swords re-fight the final boss.

The third ending is obtained by equipping the Oboro Muramasa and fighting the final boss again. The final boss will be the same boss that you fought the first time. To obtain this sword, you must forge every other blade in the game.

To fight these different versions of the final boss, simply go to the last area that you are directed to go to in the game and the fight will be indicated as a flashing area on the map.

Wait, what?
Oh. Now come on. Yall are exaggerating. This must be one of those things people reference to retain credibility among gaming peers. No, I have never heard of a damn DigDug but will be sure to look into it now. Maybe I'll even come across a Flash variant somewhere. Thanks for info, affa.

No, you must not be as old as some of us think you are. If you are a gamer in or even near your 30s you would know of DigDug. Thats all.

It's like saying you don't know what Pac-Man or Donkey Kong is.

Whats the final level in Tower Fall Ascension called?

Edit:
Never mind. No longer care. I just saw that I got to the second zone. Not really feeling like continuing at the moment.

Second edit: Wait. I'm wrong and confused.

Just finished the Monohime story line in Muramasa Rebirth. After some searching it seems the two storylines are similar and the map (and enemies) is exactly the same, probably won't be going through the Kisuke line, I shouldn't be missing much right?
I played a little bit of this earlier. Gorgeous game. But, man is it...simple. All I did was mash the square button throughout the first couple of stages. I didn't even realize I could change up swords until I forced myself to explore the menu. Mind you, this is after beating the demon princess on the unicorn or whatever. I mean I suppose that's the point but I thought there'd be a little more depth. Not directly comparing them, so shut your mouth @squirrel, but I like Dragon's Crown more.

I really wish CAG would do something about the multi-reply option. Pain in the ass and it's why I sometimes don't bother replying to people. Is there like a CAG ombudsman? Or can we speak directly to the wizard directly? Hello, CHeapyD do you read this? I don't understand how this isn't a thing.

So I guess you completely ignored the tutorial which showed you how to change swords--in fact, the tutorial which actually forced you to try it yourself?

Yea, no. Absolutely not. Now you are definitely exaggerating.

@wrencrest A hipster never reveals their age but I'm old enough that I should have at least heard of this. Or come up in a conversation once. You guys are acting liking this was some kind of gaming staple. My dad played games (arcade and console) and he's never mentioned this DigDug to me either.

@yanks lol, give me a second to scope your trophy profile before I reply. Won't even count Murdered Soul against you.

Yea, no. Absolutely not. Now you are definitely exaggerating.
Think of it as revenge for how older people get treated by young people.

And yeah, DigDug was pretty common. Your dad must be a casual. Tee hee. (I'm kidding with you on this, no offense is meant)

You're right, I'm not factoring in that those games spawned sequels that you probably heard of and played. But they occupied the same space at the corner arcade. Dig Dug's a classic, man. You not knowing it is definitely disappointing. I thought you had more cred than that.

I guess I should have said it's like you not knowing about Frogger or Qbert.

No, I did the tutorial and got the trophy (please be proud). You're talking about switching swords in battle (which is obviously required since they'd break otherwise). I just didn't realize I could equip more powerful swords from the menu. I don't believe this is explained. Regardless, my point is that I had no trouble progressing using the swords I started off with. The game really is that simple (easy) but maybe I'm not that far along.

@thermopyle I mean the mobile site. Normally I just read from the phone and reply on a computer when I'm able. It's pretty annoying and now I better understand why some of you are constantly plagued with double-posts. This is like the 3rd time I've mentioned it so I'll stop complaining about it.

It is pretty easy if you play normal, you can start off with hard. I chose normal because I'm trying to clear some vita backlog quickly before Disgaea 4 and Dangaronpa 2 arrives.

Really, the fact you don't know what DigDug is is blowing my mind, and not in a good way.

digdug 1 > digdug 2.

That's like saying you don't know Galaga, Asteroids, Pong... just... wow.  Next you'll say you never got stuck at the Dazzler joystick on the Xmen arcade game...

I'm not a father or married man like most here, but I know what Dig Dug is. Sorry Breakfuss, but you not knowing about it drops you to casual status.

...

Dirty casual.

Ah, my mistake. Sorry if I offended you.

We're really not exaggerating. It's a staple game of the 80's. Most guys in their 30's that spent any time in arcades would recognize the music. Sure, it's not quite Space Invaders, Pong, Pac Man or Donkey Kong... but it sits proudly in the second tier alongside all the other games people have mentioned - Defender, Galaga, Time Pilot, Robotron, etc...

I just asked my wife, and she's heard of Dig Dug.

(note that when I say 'second tier' i'm only talking about cultural relevance... I'd rather play any of the games i listed as 2nd tier over most games in existence. Though I'm happy with modern versions like Resogun for Defender, TxK for Tempest, etc. A well reviewed modern Robotron would be a system seller for me, though I already own a vita so I'd be set)

I was set to pass on Steam world but all this Dig Dug talk has gotten me curious - that's one of my favorite oldies. Will probably wait to.see what sales are announced for this week unless they don't do that anymore since revamping it.

This Wimbledon final makes me want a Virtua Tennis PS4 game so bad.
I don't think tennis has ever been mentioned in this thread before other than the one time when Virtua Tennis 4 for Vita went on sale. It's crazy to think that in the 90s, tennis games could be considered among the best games for consoles, i.e. Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64 and Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast. Pretty quaint now.

I have to think that Breakfuss is being sarcastic/funny or at least trying to be. Dig Dug is probably as big as Qbert or Joust, but not quite the level of a Donkey Kong or Pac Man.

Dig Dug is easily in the Top 10 for 1980s Arcade games.
Dig Dug, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Burgertime, Donkey Kong Jr., Pole Position, Tron, Rygar, Ms. Pacman. All great games. I was fortunate to have owned the arcade machines of these fine game in my stores back in the mid-80s. Till this day, Ms. Pacman is still my mothers favorite machine. I would love to be able to locate a good machine for her one day.

all the quarters I dumped into Rygar, man I loved that game. Honestly though, all those got money out of me but Rygar was one of my top favorites.

Here is one of them, but beware, lots of folks complain about how long it takes to get the code from Gamestop, minutes, hours....

I always buy from Amazon, instant codes.

Best of luck.

TMG
As I remember it, the codes are put on the order page instantly after it is ordered and people didn't realize it, but I could be thinking of something else.

The tutorial makes you switch among the swords you have equipped. It doesn't make you swap out your equipped swords for new ones, nor was there any tutorial on forging new swords that I recall, and I'm sure those actions are what he was referring to.

Edit: Ninja'd by like 4 hours.

Like I said, that was my mistake.

Amazon is the one that does that, but I've run into occasional situations where GameStop just tells me that they'll have the code ready in 24 hours.

How is that SteamWorld Dig game-- anyone? I didn't realize it was a Metroidvania-type game-- I would have bought it a long while ago! Not I am definitely interested, esp. since it's cross-buy (I have PS4 and am looking to get a Vita eventually)

Xblaze was pretty awesome. My favorite Virtual Novel (even over Virtues Last Reward..and possibly 999). I want to play danganronpa now...and I just bought blazblue calamity trigger portable for the story (I dont even like fighting games). I'm spending too much money on vita games.

Speaking of Qbert, I saw a reference to it in Guacamelee STCE yesterday in one of the new areas and got excited. Just as excited when I saw him in Wreck-It Ralph ☺

Admittedly, I didn't play much in the arcades but I'm still familiar with most of the classics. I get the whole shock about DigDug. I'm right there with everyone lol. I sucked at what little I've played of it. MrNinjaSquirrel's DigDug comparison and watching the random guy stream Steamworld Dig turned me off purchasing it for now.

Heh, wish I was joking, but nope, hadn't heard of it before yesterday. Watched a YouTube clip and I might have put some derivative of it on my TI-83 back in school, idk. Otherwise I'm drawing blanks. Looks cool, though.

Honestly, as familiar as I am with Galaga, Pacman and the like, I rarely got the opportunity to play them in actual arcades. Those games were mostly phased out by then so I was introduced to them on consoles. And like I mentioned before, my dad would often talk about what he enjoyed. I overlooked DigDug for some odd reason, but appreciate everyone schooling me.

@cleaner7/squirrel After watching the video the comparison makes more sense. But it's not like enemies frantically chase you around. Well, one type does toward the end. You pretty much dig, collect ore and upgrade equipment. Rinse, repeat. I enjoyed it. Yes, 'enjoyed'. It's criminally short! However, maxing out your equipment and collecting all the trophies require multiple plays so there's that.

I believe Amazon will not let you buy PSN credit with Amazon credit though.  Just something to be aware of.

More then once I wanted to use my Amazon credit but it will not let me.
