Sooo those FATAL FRAME games... think those are ever going back up in price?

I use my PS3 about as much as I use the VCR I have hooked up in my spare room (Hint: not very often), and I see that FF 1&2 are STILL "on sale" from when I didn't get around to snagging them months ago.
Maybe at some random point in the future, so grab them if you want them.

Was away all weekend and Monday, so missed the flash sale.  Would've loved to pick up the Wild Arms games and Legend of Dragoon.  Oh well, hopefully there'll be another flash sale this weekend.

Same here. SMT games on sale were a nice surprise this week to help make up for it.

Any chance those PS2 Classics could be playable on a Vita?

I'd much rather play some of those SMT games that way.
Nope, unfortunately not. PS2 Classics aren't playable on Vita.

It might be possible to play them in the future via the PS Now streaming but there's no guarantee or anything as far as that goes.

Raiden went back up in price after months of being on sale, I assume the same will happen with those eventually.

I think were finally starting to see Sony pull back a bit in regards to its PS+ offerings, which in all honesty, is something I fully expected to happen eventually. I just hope they don't pull back too far now that they have everyone on board. I guess only time will tell.

You can get Ground Zeroes on ps4/xbone for $10 used at Gamestop (U.S.) or $5 after redeeming a $5 off coupon using pur points. As for peace walker, it is on the ps3 hd collection disc with mgs 2 and 3. But it's up to you.

I personally bought the hd collection for mgs 3 a while back and to screw around with the other games on disc and I'll be getting mgs 4 from Gamestop today.
Thanks for the advice, but it won't work for me. I live in Brazil. I could find used Gorund Zeroes for u$20 here... Not worth it. The HD collection is great, but I already played MGS 2 and 3 several times back on PS2.

I'm not impressed with the pricing, but I enjoyed both games. $20 is the most I would pay. If you don't like one of them it's going to feel like a waste. Might want to read up on the criticisms of both games and decide if you are okay with that.

Ground Zeroes is short and has little value if you simply play games to beat them. Peace Walker is a bit quirky and some fans of the series didn't like the things it does differently.
I'm worried about this Ground Zeroes lenght. I saw a speed run video where the dude finished the game in 5 minutes! And I think they will probably release a Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain bundle next year... Peace Walker doesn't look like the main Metal Gear games for me, but reviews say it is good and really big for a Metal Gear game.

Anyway, I think I will skip this for now. Thanks for the reply.

You crazy. We're now guaranteed 6 games per month, 2 per console. This month we got Strider, Dead Space 3, Muramasa and more... I don't see any significant difference from other months.

What I see instead happening is drying up of interesting games to get particularly for the Vita and PS4. So many niche games are on the Vita and I just don't see PS+ getting many of those, so it will likely be older AAA titles and indie games for a while (Aksys I see more of their games going PS+ likely Mind=0 and Sorcery Saga)...which isn't terrible but mainly less interesting (I don't mind the indie games). PS4 I see it being mainly indie ports.....that's it....maybe in a year Knack will be there...but I see that taking a while. I also possibly see PSP games coming back into play for the Vita. I still love PS+ of course but I see a dry run in the near future (next few months)....though I can't wait till we get Binding of Isaac Rebirth PS+ whenever it's released and that Secret Poncho game.

Managed to fall about 500 points short of the trophy for the pacifism survival mode in Crimsonland, which at least got me the #2 spot on the leaderboards. I'll stream some more attempts at the leaderboards later on.

The console has been out for less than a year, so it's only logical that we're not going to be getting many AAA releases yet. KZ or Knack next year, sure... but this year has been great so far (Resogun!, many others!) and we're still getting Drive Club soon. I don't see how that can be considered 'drying up'... I mean, this time last year we weren't getting any ps4 games (obviously).

I'm actually extremely impressed at the quality of PS4 offerings. Resogun, Drive Club, Binding of Issac, Outlast, Secret Poncho, Don't Starve... these are all games I would have been buying, but instead get with plus.

As for vita, there are plenty of games they can put on plus. Everything from niche stuff, like you said, to something like KZ or tearaway of lbp. Who knows? Vita offerings have been fantastic in my opinion, again, not 'drying up'.

And we still get AAA games like Dead Space 3 on ps3.

PS+ is far better than when I bought into it, that's for sure. Back then we got minis, ps1 games, avatars, etc and had no guarantee of anything. Now we're getting games I'd buy across 3 different platforms.

I feel the same and just got my PS4 3 nights ago. I downloaded all the free games and am set for a bit. Though admittedly I've been spending my free time with Guacamelee STCE on XB1. I got Gold on all the challenges without the use of any alternate costumes for an extra challenge and now have 100% in every area except the final one. I'm looking forward to going home in a few hours and beating the game tonight with the good ending. Then I might go back to the original game on PS3 or Vita and finally 100% that and buy the DLC.

Was looking over Frisky's tally, and since Vita was added to PS+ there are about 53 free Vita/PSP/Cross-Buy titles. Didn't count Mini/PS1 from before Nov '12.

What do you think the threshold for someone who has PS+ for PS3, and now with all the PS4 additions recently, to cave and get a Vita and/or Playstation TV? Assuming they add the games to their library every month.

I caved when they announced the first 5. Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and Mutant Blobs was enough to get me to cave.

I don't know how anybody could possibly hold out with 50+ free games already ready to go.

If the threshold is north of 53 games then I have to believe there is no threshold. PS+ has been fantastic for Vita. Anyone who is without a Vita and has 53 Vita games waiting to be played is never going to get a Vita. And they don't deserve a Vita.

They cut out the lines about the Wizard being from the Moon in the Destiny beta. I had no problem with it before, so it's a bit disappointing if they just cut it out entirely because of the meme/criticism.

That's a bummer, for sure, but at least we'll always have the t-shirts to remember that alpha experience with.

Nope, ot crazy at all. I don't care if were guranateed 20 games per month. I am speaking towards quality and overall value, not quantity. Not to mention, I don't own any handhelds. PS+ for me is for my PS3 and in my subective opinion, the quality of the titles has been slowly dropping off as of late. We are seeing far more indies and less quality retail games and that significantly dimisnishes the overall value of PS+, at least for me as I really didn't buy my consoles to play Indies. My consoles (Xbox & Playstation) and the premium services (PS+, Xbox Live) I buy for those consoles iare for retail games. I buy most of the indie games that interest me on my PC as they usually come out first on PC, are dirt cheap compared to consoles, and the PC version is usually a better experience.

Just look at the sheer number of game bundles being released on the PC side now. Its absolutely crazy how many bundle sites have popped up and the rate at which they are now offering bundles. Bundle Stars now has anywhere from 10-15 bundles going on at any given time. Indie Gala has released over 100 bundles to date and are releasing them at faster and faster rates. They now have the Every Monday Bundle, the Friday Specials, and the big monthly bundles. Then you have Daily Indie Game, Indie Game Stand, Indie Royale, Groupees, Flying Bundle, Humble Bundle, etc. and the list gets bigger and bigger with each passing month. PC gamers can buy 20-30 indie games per week now for basically .50 cents apiece and not only do they not have to pay a yearly fee to be able to do so, they also own those games outright.

Don't get me wrong, PS+ is still a great deal. If it wasn't I wouldn't continue to subscribe, but I am seeing a noticable decline in the overall value of the games being released into the program. PS+ got the amazing rep it has today by releasing high quality RETAIL games, not indies. Maybe you should look back at the releases that PS+ has seen in the past. There was a period of time where PS+ was just on fire. There were releasing so many great retail games that most people couldn't even keep up. It made Games for Gold look absolutely pathetic by comparison. The gap between the two servcies is decreasing. MS is upping thier game with Games for Gold and PS+'s offerings have been dropping in overall value as of late.

Of course, this is all subjective anyways so your welcome to disagree. Thats the great thig about subjective opinion, there is no right or wrong. Everyone's opinion is just as valid as anyone elses. To call me crazy because you have a different subjective opnion on the matter is just infantile.

If I were to preorder Destiny digitally do I get a beta code as well?
this was definitely the case. i'm not sure if there is/was a cut-off date for the pre-order to get the beta code, though. anyway, if you pre-ordered on psn i think sony announced that you don't need a code and you will simply be able to download the beta when it goes live or something like that...not sure of what their exact explanation was.

Ha, really? I didn't create as big a fuss as others but it was indeed terrible. Lol. Same with the crucible announcer.

The introduction of indies is as much of a bad thing as it is a good thing.

For all the creative titles released, none of these titles fill the void left from middle of the road budget full retail games. The games with legitimate dev time but also the leg room to create a different gameplay experience.

Especially with this new generation, we either get low budget indie games or high budget sequels of well established games and genres (see the fps genre).

It sucks that innovation from previous generations (for me it's the GC/PS2 era) has been lost in favor of cookie cutter experiences.

Let's just say my time spent playing my PS4 has been extremely lackluster. A giant "meh" for lack of a better word.

I am underwhelmed with the PS4 offerings so far but I have no fear that things will get better soon.

I just checked my purchase history for the earliest PS3 games....Cash Guns Chaos, Genji Demo, Gripshift Demo, Ridge Racer 7, Super Rub a Dub, Go Puzzle.

Only a few standouts...Flow, Calling All Cars and Super Stardust. I understand many of you do not hold Flow and Calling All Cars in the high esteem I do and Super Stardust didn't come out until 6 months after launch I think.

All the free PS4 games I have now are meh or close to meh.  I think PS3's offerings turned out alright.  I have faith history will repeat itself.

Cutting the line might be missing the point of the criticism. It was merely one of the most obviously goofy lines indicative of a larger problem. If it isn't all improved then removing the best of the worst doesn't really accomplish anything. At least you get a laugh out of that one, some of the others are just dull.

Did they add the voice filter yet? Does it help any?

Part of me wonders if it might be more fun to just embrace the cheese, but I guess they want the story to be a serious experience. Maybe the AI is actually bored and doesn't just sound bored. Or they could have a mission where you have to hunt down personality upgrades.

This. Most of his lines sound phoned in, though. They should have just used a legit person instead of cashing in on the GoT hype.

Just finished the wizard mission and, yes, they added a filter. It definitely improves things.

A speed-run should never be an indication of the actual length of a game. Granted, Ground Zeroes does seem to be short but that depends highly on the person and how they play it. So, your mileage will vary if you play the game. I've seen people play the game for 3.5hrs or 8hrs and still keep on going back to play it again and again, just to rank up past missions. There happens to a main mission in the game and even side-missions and DLC. The game is only going to be "short" if you find yourself playing the main story, beating it, and then never touching it again.

There's been a speed run of Skyrim's main story done in 55 minutes (Possibly with glitches and exploits) that's not to say that everyone could do it that quickly. Also, the only reason Ground Zeroes video's happen to be short on YouTube is because people are skipping the cutscenes and have played it once or twice previously. To know what to do, and what not to do.

I think it's worth going for it when it comes to the Vita. Personally, the only reason I'd purchase the PlayStation TV (since I already have the handheld) would be to play with the games back and forth on the small screen and the big screen. Last I heard, only about 177 PS Vita games are compatible with (PS TV) but you also have the ability to stream PS4/PS3 games and play PS1/PSP games digitally. I've never actually heard if games with touch controls, gyroscopic or accelrometer work with the (PS TV) system.

I did see that it was region-locked in Japan though (Possibly by account(s)?) While the handheld system isn't. You can also switch accounts on the handheld but that includes resetting the system completely and putting all your games/saves in the cloud or on another memory card to do the switch. While you're able to do it, it really seems like a hassle just to play DLC from that region's import of a physical and/or digital game.

EDIT: Frisky, seems to have an answer for the region-free/region-lock aspect of the PS TV.

CAG Eldredpe alerted me to a new Sony Rewards promo for the movie Sex Tape. You probably don't want to do this one at work. It's another easy 250 rewards points toward a PSN code.

Sign in to Sony Rewards.

Then go here and play the game.
Thanks man. And it might be old for some people, but it was new to me; and the deal is still good. I think it's appropriate to post a reminder in any case for those who don't read every post on every thread.

It's not really region locked, as games have to be whitelisted as playable for the device on the PS Store and since it was only out in Japan, only the Japanese PS Store and its games are able to be used on there right now.

Well, I know that it was only released in Japan first just like the Vita was. I was just saying that the Vita handheld, happened to be region-free. And I would venture to say that you could still purchase a handheld from Japan and play those games that had yet to be released stateside. I've even seen people do it with the (PS TV) but it seems like they were stuck with just using the Japanese store/games. Thanks for the information anyways.

I played Ground Zeroes last night. My first run through (no guides, not going for trophies [I never do that or look at a guide on my first playthrough]) was 111 minutes and I loved every minute of it. After you finish it the side ops and side missions open up. I haven't tried them yet so don't know what they are or how long, but I intend to play them which should add another hour or two I would think.

But that's not what you said. You didn't clarify that you only have a ps3, your statement was blanket about ps+ as a whole, and you said:

"I think were finally starting to see Sony pull back a bit in regards to its PS+ offerings, which in all honesty, is something I fully expected to happen eventually."

which makes it sounds like you're not only passing judgement, but one of those people who constantly tells us how it's going to get worse.

Now, sure, if you're talking just about ps3... but in that case, um... well... yeah? They obviously moved some of their purchasing budget from ps3 to ps4. That didn't require a prediction, that was a given. And guess what? In a few years, there may not be ANY games for ps3 on ps+ anymore, because it's no longer current gen. This shouldn't be a shocker.

That's not "pull(ing) back a bit" from their offerings. That's adjusting to 2014, now that they (and their customers like us) have shifted into support for the ps4 and ps3 is taking a backseat. As with anything else, they have a budget, and they need to use it effectively.

PS3 only users are still getting quite a few games though, especially when you consider that often in addition to the main 2 there might be crossbuy titles listed for ps4 or vita.

I caved when they announced the first 5. Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and Mutant Blobs was enough to get me to cave.

That's exactly when I caved. I had really wanted to play Uncharted GA (loved it, too) and that announcement plus the black friday sale at that time was an easy buy. I had worried it would end up dusty like my psp did... but instead Vita is my primary gaming platform now. So good.

Sorry I have a bit of a OT question

I changed my hard drive on my Ps3, but I forgot to upload one of my saves on my old hard drive. Can I just switch hard drives out to upload that save and go back to my new hard drive without corrupting anything? Or do I have to back up all my stuff again?

Yeah, it'll work just fine. If that save was a locked save, it'll take a day for you to be able to download it back to the console.

i've only been doing crimsonland 'quests'  (set piece spawn setups, sometimes very cool/original) but holy hell i love this game.  it gets challenging (especially unwounded runs, and i'm only playing on normal) and tons of unlocks (weapons, modes, perks, etc).

and to think i still have survival and other modes to dig into.

highly recommended if you like dual stick shooters.  it's nice and weighty, a massive amount of weapon variation, etc.   some cool things -- like if you try to use an arena edge to protect yourself, enemies can go off screen (beyond your reach) and get you from behind (solid camping prevention).

once i start getting into survival, i'll do a more proper review, but i'd say for the ps+ price it's a no brainer if you like dss or want a arcade game.   i think it's 4 player same screen coop too?  i've been soloing it but i see 'press fire to join' prompts.

Affa, did you ever play Narco Terror?  Its a dual stick shooter as well.  Pretty shitty, but bundled with Sacred Citadel for $10 total I took a shot.  Its mindless and decently entertaining.  I wish Crimsonland were on PS3 and I would have bought it too.  But at least I can hope it will be a free game on plus eventually so I can get it and play it after I move on to the PS4.

I skipped over the PS+ fuss yesterday, but basically this. Literally, as soon as they announced those vita evergreens I picked up a vita the following weekend. Doesn't hurt that AT&T was clearancing them out for a crazy price but still.

I don't like every PS+ game but even I can recognize the value. Same as with something like Netflix. And depending on how you look at it, there's something to be said of getting games/movies you wouldn't have otherwise bought. For all its faults I just really don't see how anyone can seriously criticize it. Industry-shifting stuff on their part.

The PS3 titles may start looking increasingly weak as we move along, but that's why you cheapasses need to upgrade. C'mon, 6 games a month!!? You can't beat that ANYwhere.
