So I bought FF V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX, having never played them as I never had a PSOne. I'd love for them to release DQ VIII for psn.

Any opinions on the Robotech series? I love Macross II and Macross Plus (one of my all-time favorite animes). I know that Robotech is an unholy amalgam of three different shows for the American audience, is it worth watching all that or would I be better off just getting "Do You Remember Love" and watching that instead?

Any anime experts please enlighten me if the above information is in error.

Can't play FF8 that well on my computer but FFT is a little easier.

Can't decide whether to just pick FFT and FF8 (my favorite FF ever) for my PS3 cuz I know its not Steam where you sort of have it forever... Just makes me hate consoles sometimes.
Do you want to play FFVIII anytime soon. If yes, then pick up FFVIII, if no wait for Steam Sale because it will be super cheap.

I own FF VIII in physical, PSN Download, and Steam. I have not played FF VIII yet. I bought a game I have never played three times now. What is wrong with me, lol?

Does anyone know what the load times are like on the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger? Is it as awful as the everyone says the DS port is?
I have nothing to compare it to as I only played it on the Vita. It wasn't onerous. If everyone didn't complain about it, then I wouldn't know that I should be bothered. Maybe I just have a lot of patience though.

What is wrong with you, you say? Pfft. That helped you earn my respect!

At 99 cents an episode, Robotexh isn't a hot deal. You're better off finding a good deal on a boxed disk set or, if what you're really angling for is the first arc (drawn from Macross), the Macross boxed set. You can just rip them and encode for PS3 or Vita.

As for quality, Robotech pretty cleverly spliced together tree different shows to fit a US year long season schedule. It's worth watching for nostalgia value if it was part of your childhood or if you want to see how it was done, but the component series' original presentations are stronger.

You've been here long enough to know he is trolling with that post lol.

As for the load times, I only warn people so that they know other options exist. I doubt it's unplayable but there definitely is a difference. Then again. the vita has its advantages as well. No way in hell I'd play it on it my phone.

The Game of Thrones game is $2.99.

Worth it?

Yes I enjoy Game of Thrones if that means anything.

Mechanically and visually the game's nothing special, but if you have a genuine interest in the lore of GoT the plot's authenticity more than makes up for technical shortcomings. Mors and Alester are great dual protagonists with surprisingly well-done voice acting. At a mere $2.99 I'd definitely recommend it.

Tough to say. I guess it depends on how much tolerance you have for how anime used to cut corners with their animation. You will see the same ship explode a dozen times. Do You Remember Love is definitely better in that regard, but the dubbing is worse (stick with it anyway). Story is still probably pretty good though.

I think the first season of Robotech is worthwhile at the least. I liked the story in that one the most. The others can be okay if you liked anime conventions at the time, but weren't really as good in my opinion. Genesis Climber Mospeada (Season 3) is generally regarded to be better than Season 2.

Having said all that, do they make you buy per episode? $1 per episode doesn't seem like a very good deal to me. I swear I've seen the entire collection on Amazon for less before.

Edit: It's $40 on Amazon right now, and that probably isn't even their historical low price. That's all three seasons for $4 more than if you just got Season 1 at $1 per episode. I've never understood the pricing for downloadable versions of movies and tv shows. It's like they think it's music and you will just pick the few you like.

It's too bad the situation with Harmony Gold prevents the real Macross from being sold in the US. They kept making them, and they kept being great. I mean, I appreciate them for Robotech, but Macross deserves better than this.

The odds that PS4 will eventually get ps1 and ps2 classic compatibility are very high. There are legitimate reasons why they would not include those features at launch (pre-launch firmware feature creep, burying the launch library, etc).

If I was a betting man, it's not 'if', but 'when', and I'd wager sooner than later at this point.

Yeah, I know...but someone here might miss out on a great game thinking that it's unplayable. So I answered.

They are so bad that a future version of yourself periodically appears and punches you in the face for putting yourself through so much pain instead of just playing the superior Genesis version.

DQ would be a nice addition to my collection.

I just recently saw the Robotech series again before the summer and the Do you remember love so I would get them both. Do you remember love does a nice job to simplify the series but cuts out alot of the main plot and character development but its still a nice watch through. To this day I never quite could understand what lynn minmay was doing at the end of DYRL.

Thinking about starting Dragon's Crown soon.  Is it better to play on Vita or PS3, or are they virtually identical?  I know some games run at a lower framerate on PS3 than on their Vita counterparts, just wondering if I should bother making room on the ol' Vita memory card.

When I played Dragon's Crown on Vita a few months ago there was some lag when a lot of action was on screen. Some prefer the Vita version as it's easier to interact with the environment, I prefer the PS3 as it looks better, easier when a lot of action is going on the screen and has better controls IMHO.

The only framerate issue is on the Vita when things get VERY crazy but it is definitely still playable. And, to be honest, I prefer the Vita version because you can order your thief to open chests and doors by simply touching them on the touch screen. On the PS3 you have to use the right analog stick to move what is basically a mouse pointer over the chests or doors and hit L1 to order him to open them. That also applies to the times during which you are trying to place rune stones in walls in different combinations. I love both versions but I think I prefer the Vita version slightly more.

9 out of 10 people recommend playing on vita due to the touch screen controls being far superior for treasures.
Surprised the see Ni no kuni not on sale. I might have bought it if it was this time around since i have a little extra in my psn wallet.
Well Ni No Kuni isn't exactly an anime. Besides, it was recently on sale for $5.

I guess I'm going to buy Pirate Warriors 1 since I loved Pirate Warriors 2.

Also that is a really good price for Battle of Z I bought it earlier this year and I have enjoyed it a lot.Jojo Bizarre Adventure is also really good but not worth that price, you can finish it in 5hrs.
Is the coop 2 player only or can it handle more?

AHHHH! I can't decide whether or not I should I buy ffx for ps3 since I already have it for vita. CROSS-PLAY YAY OR NAY!!?!?

Some early footage of The Binding of Isaac Rebirth, which runs at 60 fps now:
This needs to not be early footage. Isaac's announcement as a console exclusive and PS+ freebie were factors in my PS4 purchase. I'm a bit surprised it doesn't even have a release time frame (let alone a date) yet.

Excuse my phone butchering your post - I wanted to respond to this quickly since I was getting ready to buy a whole bunch of anime. What makes you think it's .99 per episode? I was under the impression it was per season. I didn't look at Robotech but the other shows l'm interested in, you can't buy episodes individually. Or maybe you can and I'm an idiot.

Edit: Okay, it's most likely per episode going by the original price. I'm not too bummed as I would have just spent money on shows I didn't want.

That is the historical low price, that set also has something crazy like 5 discs of extras, which included 3 films on top of all 85 episodes.

I am an idiot for selling my old copy of FF8 because it is ridiculous online and I could still play it since I have a PS2.

Thanks to those who responded to my questions yesterday. I ended up getting:

FF Orgins
FF 7-9
FF Tactics
FF Tactics The War of the Lions

And because they were so cheap, Front Mission 3 and Game of Thrones. I will also be picking up P3 FES tomorrow for the same reason.

I feel like kind of a dumbass spending so much money on PS1 games, but these are on my "must play someday" list. Ever since I got a Vita a couple months ago I've been acquiring games like a madman, and with PS+ added to the mix I'm officially overwhelmed by the number of games I now have to play. Like seriously, I have no idea where to start, and every time I think about playing something, I am overwhelmed by indecision :(

Edit: I figured I should add that I am a pretty big completionist, especially with RPG games. I feel like I have to complete every quest, unlock everything, ect... I HATE starting new games when I know I have unfinished ones still waiting. So it's basically an internal battle with myself to start anything new. I'm basically robbing myself of the fun and excitement of experiencing new games, WHICH I ALREADY OWN, for the sake of "completing" games I've started in the past.

I'm an idiot :/

I just checked and am at 20 PS1 games in my mediago library currently. I picked up a PSPgo about two summers ago, and it has been a perfect way to play those titles I missed or just wanted to have another go at. I loved how the go was small enough to slip into a pocket. It was a huge reason I held off on getting a Vita, but finally caved. I have a list of another twelve games that are "must gets" for the PS1, and after that I think I may be done. I just hope some of those go for $1 like they've been doing lately. Sony, I doubt the PS1 classics are moving at the $9.99 you have a lot of them listed at. Most people will buy any of the games at a dollar on principle alone!

I always wanted a Go, but I could never pull the trigger because of the price. Same thing with the Vita until recently. The way I intended to use the Vita is about 20% for Vita games, 40% PSP games, and 40% PS1 games. I really wish PS2 games were playable on it.

I would LOVE to see more PS1/PS2 games in the 1-3 dollar range. They would make so much off me. The only reason I was willing to spend so much on these Square games is: 1. They rarely go on sale (as far as I know) 2. I doubt they will be any cheaper than this, knowing how greedy Square is known to be.

Edmond said something like "I know the date, I'm just waiting for a trailer to get done being made that will announce the date to announce the date"

So, it'll prolly be pretty soon.

$1 per season feels too generous. I mean, the show is old enough that it seems reasonable to me, but I tend to not underestimate other people's desire to make money.

This expectation also fits the pattern of pricing for other downloadable tv shows. They always seem to ask too much, apparently assuming that most people will not take the time to add the cost and realize just how expensive the entire set really is. I still remember X'amd costing something like $80 just to rent.

When I checked the store I also thought I saw options to buy episodes but not seasons, but can't find either now so may have been mistaken.

Any idea on how big those Robotech seasons are GB wise???

I almost have to buy them at those prices. Crazy.
I could have sworn that when I looked them up in the store earlier they were about 340ish megs per episode. Can't seem to find that information again though. I find this to be perplexing. Seems like a strange thing to just imagine.

Edit: I figured I should add that I am a pretty big completionist, especially with RPG games. I feel like I have to complete every quest, unlock everything, ect... I used to be a completionist, before games started to get carried away with their optional nonsense. I want to say Crisis Core was the straw that broke the camel's back, but it was so long ago that I can't remember for sure.

I still do as much of the side stuff as I can, but I almost never 100% a game anymore. Especially not jrpgs. I do still beat them before starting something new. I just can't be bothered to grind away at superfluous garbage intended to make the game last longer anymore.

Mark my words, a lot of this stuff is designed for younger people who cannot buy many games per year. They fill the game with so much filler that it will take you 4+ months to complete what would only take you a few weeks to beat. It provides value to people with more time than money. As you get older you will find the reverse becomes true, and you need to alter your behavior accordingly.

Of course, certain games still have a reasonable amount of content and are easy to complete. Zelda and Infamous are the two series I still tend to 100%.

I think all those anime shows are going to be priced on the basis of per episode, not the whole season for $1-$2. That would be a swell deal if that is the pricing for whole seasons.
