Red dead AND Max Payne 3 for $10? Now that's a deal i will gladly take advantage of.

Tempted to get the Mass Effect Trilogy. I've only played some of part 1 and didn't really like it much but $14 for all 3 of them just seems like a really good deal.
There's no harm in skipping ME1 and just playing 2 and 3. I went back and played 1 after 2 and enjoyed it, but 2 and 3 are definitely better from a gameplay and presentation perspective. 1 has a good story, but everything else can seem a little dated or bland.

Red Dead for less than $60 is an absolute steal.

Wow, Sony is bringing it this week. I have Crysis 1 on Xbox and downloaded the free version of Crysis 3 on PS3 last night. Should I buy Crysis 2? I played a little bit of Crysis 1 and wasn't too impressed. Is it better on Playstation?

Great deal on Mega Man X 4. But where are the first three Mega Man X games?

Dang, I was hoping Don't Starve would be cross-buy, or at least that our PS+ copy for the PS4 would allow for some kind of discounted upgrade for the Giant Edition.
Klei have apparently said that something got botched during the store update and they're working on it.

It's supposed to be cross-buy if you own the ps4 version (including those of us who got it through plus), but something happened to the listings that's actually making both versions show up as unpurchased in the store for me (even though the ps4 version still shows up in my download list).

Seeing as how they imported Mega Man 1-4 on PS1 classics, I was thinking they would do the same for the X series. Is X4 from a disc released in the US or an import?

I'll buy it regardless, but with Wii U releasing more Virtual Console titles as Rirse pointed out, it makes me want it over a PS4 (until Arkham Knights comes out - then I'm on the PS4 bandwagon).

Bummer. I Was hoping to play tonight.

Your post solidifies the fact that ME1 should be played first. There's a bizarre ignorance of features and themes that long-time players consider ME1 to have done better by those who just jumped in for the middle of a trilogy. But doing that shows how much they care about how great the experience is anyway, I suppose.

X4 was released on PS1 in the US way back, and that's presumably the version up on PSN now. It's pretty story-heavy for a Mega Man game, so it'd be silly to have the Japanese version. X1-X3 were never released on any PlayStation platform unless you count Maverick Hunter on the PSP, which is a remake of the first game. The Virtual Console downloads are just SNES ports, I thought.

Those who played ME1 when it was new will likely have a greater appreciation for it than anyone going back to it now for the first time. Many aspects of the game do not hold up to current games. That's not to say you can't appreciate and enjoy the game or even find some things more interesting than the sequels. My point was that if someone did not get into ME1 it doesn't necessarily preclude them from enjoying 2 or 3 since I feel they are better presentations and overall more fun to play than the original. The overall story lines can still be interesting not having played ME1 also (although they would obviously be enhanced by playing 1).

ME1 stands on its own two feet just fine. It's more Western RPG than Action RPG like 2 and 3. Anyone who isn't a fan of the mechanics will still be pleased they plowed through it as they work through the sequels.

It's also a fantastic pick up for elevator fetishists.

I really wish the HD remake rumors were true. I don't have the time to sit through a whole RPG trilogy on PS3, but I would Remote Play the hell out of them.

I think if someone didn't get into ME1, they probably should try 2 and 3 since they are different. Personally, I think 1 is the best, and an awesome game. I severely dislike 2 since I think it's much more of a shooter than an RPG. I only played the demo for 3, but seemed so much like 2 that I knew I didn't want to play it. I keep hoping they put just 1 on sale so I can get it on PS3.

My PS3 did a cool trick when I came back from a weekend away: it greeted me by blinking its red light.

Seemed to work fine after a hard power cycle, but it was doing the same thing when I woke up this morning.  Is this a sign of bad things to come?

Megaman X3 was released on ps1 in Japan. And all the X games are playable through the X collection on ps2.

ME1 was rushed to launch for a fall release, which caused it to have freezing issues, framerate issues, and a general bugginess for me when I started playing it back in the day. Is the PS3 version improved in those aspects?

was

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc on sale last week. Did not notice it but noticed it today at 19.99  back to 39.99

Yes, Daganronpa was on sale for $20 in celebration of the sequel getting released.

Deadly Premonition Directors Cut UE and Under Defeat for me. I've always wanted to DP on 360 but I heard this one is way better since they fixed most of the problems. Happy to finally get that.

Never played it on 360 but I didn't notice any major issues/bugs/freezing playing the downloaded version on PS3. I thought I had read that ME1 on PS3 used the ME2 engine, so maybe that was part of it?

Add me to the group of people who wasn't all that fond of ME1 but really liked ME2.

It wasn't that I didn't like ME1...I was just underwhelmed in response to the hype.  I did finish it though.

More than I can say about Final Fantasy X at the moment.  I think I have around three hours left to it (judging by the plot outline on GameFaq) but I just can't bring myself to finish it.

Is that bad?

I'm only in chapter 3, but so far Danganronpa 2 isn't as good as the first.  Story's good so far, but the new/changed mini-games for the trials...yeah, I'm not liking those.

Generally I don't hear it was considered rushed to launch. It was delayed from Spring 2007 to Fall 2007 and even then it was considered rough largely due to BioWare's inexperience with the new generation and that third party engine. They couldn't even do much with patches. I doubt it could have been much stronger given when it was released on the BioWare timeline for last gen. It was basically their guinea pig for 360.

It's a little better on PS3 in some ways, a little worse in a couple of others. Overall it seems to be the slightly better console version if you are going in with no experiences, but 3 has clear advantages on 360 if you are more keen on getting the cleaner experience in the more graphically robust and most recent entry: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-mass-effect-PS3-face-off

Yeah man. FFX is one of the best in the franchise. It's worth one finish. Power through. I have trouble starting on old, very long games too. Even when I know they're supposed masterpieces, but I force myself to finish anyway.

Oh I don't have any problem starting very old, long games. I got into RPGs back on the NES and love the older RPGs. In fact I started playing FFIII the other night and I really like it.

I don't know what it is about X. The final third of the game has just felt very...bloated? Full of itself? Like it lost the charm that made the first half of the game good.

Meh.

Did anyone comment that Infamous Second Son is on sale for 59.99 down from an original price of 59.99?

You can get it used on Gamefly for $20. The case is brand new, though, since they don't send those out on rental.

I, too, didn't like ME1. It was just too laborious going to all those planets and moons mining for minerals. It's the only game in the series that I would not play again. I absolutely love ME2 and ME3, both equally and are two of my all-time favorite games.

I agree that this month of Plus offering is the weakest so far. Even the most ardent Plus fan has to agree with that statement on some level. The only non-indie game being offered in Playstation Allstars Battle Royal, which has been on sale numerous of times, so I bet over 90% of us have it already. Velocity 2X is the only saving grace for this month's debacle.

As for FFX, it's one of my favorite of the series, if not the favorite. The only FF games that I was able to finish were FF 6, 7, 9 and 10. Couldn't finish 8, 12 or 13 no matter how many times I've gone back to them.

And as for the how active the community is on Battlefield 3 question: It's very active. I've had the game since the Thanksgivings of its release, and to this day I'm still on it daily. No matter what other FPS games I've tried to move on to, I always find myself coming back to BF3. It's not perfect by any means, but it does a lot more right than all the other FPS out there.

Cheers!

It's not way better. It adds about half a dozen cutscenes and the camera is panned out more so you see more of the field, but the PS3 version only has one difficulty setting: easy. The game was already easy enough on Xbox default setting, so combat's just a chore here. I think if this is your first introduction to the game, you're not going to enjoy the game. Fans of this version were probably fans of the original version, and prefer this one for its paltry added content and promise of a sequel.

Two that I'm eye-balling are:

Deadly Premonition Ultimate- 5.39

Mirrors Edge- 4.89

Thoughts?

The real question would be, when will I plug my ps3 back in again..
Mirror's Edge is a first person shooter where you run away from the bad people with guns instead of shoot them. It's an interesting experience. $5 is the most I would spend on it. Not sure how the performance is in the PS3 version.

If you do get it, don't fall into the trap that just because you can use a gun that you should. A lot (but not all) of the people who didn't like it thought they needed to use the guns. The game is all about maintaining your momentum, and will guide you by using colors in the environment to tell you where to go. I guess it's sort of like those "runner" games, except in first person instead of sidescrolling 2D. Don't stop for anything.

Man at this rate, I'm never gonna get a PS4. So much piff for sale. Got...

- Army of Two: Devil's Cartel
- Fuse
- Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition
- Deadly Premonition: DC Ultimate Edition

Was really hesitant on Deadly Premonition, but for $6 what the hell. Might as well.

Kevin VanOrd of GameSpot swears by Deadly Premonition, best broken game he claims (my paraphrase).

And yeah, hard to pass up on Fuse for less than $5, my biting price.

Deadly Premonition is great! Definitely starts off slow, but the controls are much improved from the original release. Also, gotta agree with NovaKane, I'm not making the leap any time soon. Playstation All-Stars is free right now as well as some super cheap pick ups (Max Payne 3).

My hard drive is now a perpetual backlog.

I love Mirror's Edge a ton. Glad there's gonna be a gorgeous sequel. I actually shut off the reticule and "runner vision (colored route indications)" about a minute into the tutorial. Just felt like I understood the environment enough to move without it. That said, I wouldn't say it's a totally good idea to shut off runner vision because I know some people said the game is played best when you run fast and the first time through goes best with the vision enabled. For me though, no head/game elements was a big plus.

Anyway, I think it's awesome. Rarely use guns (there's a fun achievement for no guns and another for no kills). Cool art, great sense of motion.

Picked up Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition, was temped a while back to pickup the physical edition for $19.99 on Amazon but the soundtrack CD was pathetic.
