Guys, is The Walking Dead Season 1 really that good? It looks like the gameplay resembles something like Heavy Rain. Is that it? Don't you get to actually shoot a zombie or something like that?
Based on how you're phrasing your question, i'm guessing TWD is not for you. Based on your wording it sounds like you might value action and gameplay somewhat significantly. I'm probably the same way. I appreciate story, but I need good mechanics and gameplay to go along with it. TWD for me was just ok. I appreciated the story and choices, but it felt lacking due to gameplay. Of course, I don't have a great appreciation for Walking Dead related stuff anyway and am not a big zombie fan in general.

The Calls of the Duties is up on preload btw. Precautionary incase of service issues I'm guessing?

Yeah, that's exactly what I think. I really like games with a good story, but it also needs to have a great gameplay. I guess I will pass this one. Thanks everyone.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from it - especially if you can try it out for free or a dirt cheap price. I just wouldn't recommend spending too much money on it unless you already know you like that style of game. The first episode used to be free somehow (maybe just Xbox?), so that might be worthwhile to look into.

I made the same mistake, no biggie. Maybe at some point in the future Zen Studios will enable imports across all Sony platforms.
I believe it's just the way it goes when they don't have all three versions out at the same time, as we've seen when PS4 versions of other games appear after the PS3/Vita versions. The alternate route is to delist all of the DLC/games and release new versions that are essentially the same but require you to download them again to have full Cross Buy support in any direction that's possible with this stuff.

My reference to both services is based on the expectations people had for them. Many didn't expect EA Access to add games so soon (since EA indicated that they would not be adding much to the vault any time soon when it was released) but they have added to it (Need for Speed Rivals and PVZ) and people are warming up to the service. During the same time period, many have cooled towards PS Plus because of a perception of lesser value in their more recent freebies. I was only pointing out the juxtaposition of the two services and how public perception might be changing in opposite directions toward each.

To clarify what I've already said, there is no doubt that PS Plus remains a great value. To me and many others here, the value i'm getting out of it has just lessened in recent months and many (including me) are concerned that the value may continue to decline since Sony has less incentive to make the service as desirable as it once was. Again, value and quality are subjective and i'm happy that others are enjoying some of the smaller games that I may not appreciate as much.

Lastly, I understand why Sony doesn't want to devalue its own PS Plus service by letting publishers usurp it, but since the cat is out of the bag on Xbox with EA Access, they are now likely only hindering potential value that some might get out of the service. I'm not sure why you are defending Sony with the value statement. It may be that Sony and Microsoft were just offering an unreasonably low amount of money to companies like EA for their games, so EA sought another route. I don't want to pay a subscription for every publisher out there, but if Sony is not going to offer those bigger titles with Plus anymore, why shouldn't EA offer them. There's a lot of behind the scenes issues with all of this, so I don't think any of us on the outside can form any valid opinion.

Sorry to everyone for going on so long. EA Access good. PS Plus good. I'll stop now.
The only statement I've seen about EA adding titles to the Vault is them saying that they won't remove titles after they're in there, so I might have missed something on that front. To be fair, they've only added two titles since August for a whopping six titles total in three months, which is at least better than Microsoft's GWG program on Xbox One but not for long.

I'm not defending Sony, just trying to figure out a reason for it during this discussion. Unless you were just asking rhetorical questions that you didn't want anybody to answer in your barrage of PS+ posts that said the same thing, I'm not sure why you'd jump to that conclusion. Then again, you were okay when I said why I think it's a bad value, but suggesting that Sony might see the same things makes it clear that I'm defending them?

It kind of sounds like you've got a grudge now that they dared to have a month without a retail game with the way you claim EA got offered an "unreasonably low" amount of money and that Sony's not offering retail games on PS+ anymore, so I'm not sure why this one month lead to all of this. I'd bet it's that EA saw how much money Sony makes with PS+ and said "fuck getting only a portion of that cash and a portion of the attention, let's get all of it with our own service" because it's not like they did that to Valve/Steam before making Origin the only place to get EA's PC games. The problem with their hubris is that they've blown their wad already and the rest of the year will likely not be all that good for EA Access unless they go back to being an indie publisher with a new EA Partners program.

Does it really play like Resident Evil 4? Most games that do like Dead Space or Deadly Premonition have been compared favorably to it. I've never heard anyone say anything like that about Siren.
No, Siren doesn't really play at all like Resident Evil 4...but it's awesome. TOTALLY worth it (got it on sale for that price...err...last year or the year before...but it doesn't go on sale often...and it's definitely worth more than $10).

It's definitely survival horror, but there's a big emphasis on stealth, and you can sort of see what the "zombie/demon" things see by jacking into their senses... So you kinda have to do things like wait until a creepy undead nurse looks away before sneaking past a window, etc. That leads to a few trial-and-error parts where you'll die a few times, but, more often than not, it's creepy and heart-pounding (way more so than the frequently frustrating ps2 original). It has its fair share of combat, too...but some of the game's creepiest moments come when you play as a character that's not very capable of self defense, necessitating stealth and hiding.

Look at some youtube videos first to see if it looks like your thing...but it's totally great and has the perfect horror atmosphere for Halloween.

Get ready for complaints! November PS+ lineup
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BxwK8iKqUmE
PS4
Steamworld Dig
Binding of Isaac Rebirth

PS3
Luftrousers
Frozen Synapse

Vita
Hungry Horde
Escape Plan

Most of these look to be cross buy too! Personally, I'm excited to play all these! Binding of Isaac with a controller finally! Guess I'll never buy an indie game on a Playstation console again
Eh...I was kind of hoping to finally see Persona 4 Golden show up with Persona Q coming out this month, so a little sad about that, but I've never played BoI so that sounds like a nice alternative.

It's less "entitlement" (people love throwing that word around, huh?) and more that the new-gen consoles have had a terrible launch for games. Unless, of course, you haven't touched a video game in the last five years and want a bunch of lame "HD Remasters". Also, nearly every new title for the PS4 and Xbone can be bought on last gen consoles. Not too enticing. That should hopefully change within the next year.
Are you sure you're not remembering past console launches with rose colored glasses? We're buried in games compared to most (all?) launches. I mean, to simulate what a normal console launch is like, just think of all the PS4/Xbox 1 games that have come out in the last year, remove all digital only games, and remove all remasters. And... don't add anything. That's your typical launch.

We're being spoiled rotten by the digital age -- all these extra games are bonuses, and don't detract from new game development whatsover. It's not like Naughty Dog put aside working on their new game to port TLOUPS4 -- that's a different team with a very different skill set. And all the games coming from pc? They'd just stay on PC.

I realize some find the smaller games annoying for some reason... but when you consider it's that or nothing, i can't understand the complaints.

Well I hadn't wanted to leave it this late but it's done, ended up at $102.73. Hadn't realized that Corpse Party Book of Shadows was a straight up visual novel and wasn't sure how I felt about that so I decided to wait on it. Ended up scrambling around and deciding on Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Patapon on top of Dracula X, Corpse Party, and Home. So basically I bought a bunch of PSP games. Was going to buy Trails in the Sky but I couldn't quite make it work without going way over $100 so I'll continue to wait on that.

Also Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Patapon sale confirmed for next week.
I did something similar.

My $100+ haul:

PS4 warranty extension.

Elminage Original PSP

The Walking Dead Zen Pinball Vita/PS3 (wtf no ps4)

Romance of the Three Kingdoms PS1

Ragnarok Tactics PSP

Grandia PS1

Arc the Lad PS1

Pinball Arcade Terminator 2 Table

Home - horror game

Warriors Orochi 3 ($5 deal)

Basically, a lot of games I've long wanted and was waiting for a sale on, but had pretty much given up hope on seeing a sale for (like Elminage). Others, like Arc, could easily go on sale someday but I really wanted them.

And the Terminator table was just a treat, though I'm sure season 2 will go on sale soon now. Same thing burnt me on S1.

I paid full price for Siren many years ago and still regard it as one of my favorite games on PS3.   It's not the best game, certainly, and its got some issues, but it scratched that horror itch in a  way few games do.   I remember playing the demo back when there weren't all that many demos/games on psn, and just fell in love with it's somewhat clunky (in a good way) survival horror.

I would love another sequel.

Actually.... I'm about to plat/sell Shadows of Mordor... anyone know whether I should get Aliens or Evil Within for that horror fix?  Which is better?

Yeah, I could have guessed what the game is like. My post was solely referring to his comparison to Resident Evil 4 since I've never heard anyone compare the two. I've played the first game before and it was nothing like Resident Evil, though the first Resident Evil is nothing like modern Resident Evils either, so I was hoping he'd explain what he meant by that.

I'm kind of looking for any excuse to pick it up since it's a good deal - the next Resident Evil is going to be $5 per episode, so this is just 1.5 the price of that for an entire series - but I really hate stealth games. I have played many Resident Evil ripoffs that were panned like Obscure or Seventh Mansion and enjoyed them greatly, and was hoping Siren would be kind of like that.

has sony ever said if

Binding of Isaac Rebirth
and
Frozen Synapse

will be crossovers (meaning they will come for vita as well for free)
I don't know about frozen synapse but on twitter one of the guys in the studio doing it said that the binding of isaac rebirth was going to be on vita as well

BOI - definitely yes

FS - definitely no

both confirmed.

5 vita games this month. Some really good ones, to boot. Would have loved to get FS, but I'll eventually buy it first sale.

Ya... If anything, it's maybe comparable to Resident Evil 4 at times in its look/vibe and the idea of sort of sneaking around a rural area where all the townsfolk are possessed by something and out to get you and might attack you en masse if you're seen.

But the gameplay itself is a lot different. There are times where you can fight your way through...even some parts where you're wiping out enemies that are in the way of your objectives...but there's also an emphasis on sneaking around and even running away. And there is forced stealth...with a lot of times where you have to...say...hide in a closet and study a "patrol route" so you can sneak past and not get caught, etc. It's still a great game and well worth $10...but if you absolutely hate stealth stuff, you might not enjoy everything this game has to offer.

wondering if BOI would be worth buying it for the PC as well or just stick to the vita. Last 2 months for vita been good if you never got anything (rainbow moon last month. BOI ans dig this month)

Do you mean Rebirth or the original on PC?

As far as the original goes I have probably played more Isaac on Steam than just about any CAGerino and I would say probably not unless the console version winds up being a complete disaster (which I don't expect). It has all the content of the PC version, the expansion pack and some other stuff plus a new engine (which was the weakest part of the game since it was Flash based). You'll also be able to save and pickup a game mid run which you can't do in the original. So unless you really hate the altered graphical style I can't see a reason.

Plaintum Gods unite! (I'm assuming, sitting at 200+ hours)

Also they said that for the analog sticks on console you can use the analog controls to move at different speeds. Keyboard-wise it's digital so you're either going full pace or standing still and they said they don't intend on implementing a "walk" button.

I hadn't heard that part. That's probably going to be the biggest adjustment for me then.

Yea I know, Amazon's is crazy good.
Yeah, also sold out. The upshot is that the costumes from Amazon have all been available for purchase on PSN for a long time now so it's just cool old stuff for free. The other packs seem to be new and I actually like the GS one. I'll probably pick up my GS pre-order for the phoenix and gryphon ones and may or not keep the game. :whistle2:

Free pack for Minecraft: PS3 Edition for a limited time: Halloween Pack. This came out today or yesterday.

Vita and PS4 versions of this did not come out.
Thanks for the heads up, any news on if it will be coming out for the PS4/Vita? Seems odd to exclude them.

EDIT: Seems it was US only?

It was only posted on the EU Blog. Skeleton/Scarecrow maybe end in 1 hour and 24 minutes (Midnight ET) according to this countdown to the Movember skin that's available for playing during November. They say the Skeleton/Scarecrow skins will be available again next year, but the Movember skins are only available for the next month. They also posted a teaser image of some upcoming DLC/updates like photo mode and new ships:
