Thanks for the feedback on Burnout. I had it in my mind that Paradise was mostly loved for its online multi-player, but it seems like there's plenty to love about the single player.

Kingdoms of Amalur is a must-have, gotta-own game. Definitely yes, you should get it. You won't regret it. It's a fantastic game.

 
Does anyone know if it's possible to back up data from a ps3 to an external hard drive, replace the internal one, and restore it from the data stored on the external hard drive?

Outside of locked saves, what else will it not back up? I've read different articles published at different times that say it won't back up certain things. I just want to know what I should be prepared to re-download and if I might lose anything in the process.

Yes it is. I just did this a couple months ago. Just make sure your external HD is USB 2.0. I tried using a 3.0 first but the backup process just stayed at 0% even after letting it sit for a while. It does take a long time though if you have a bunch of stuff downloaded.

If you're restoring to the same PS3, I believe you don't lose anything. I would suggest deleting installs and maybe the bigger games because a smaller amount of stuff to back-up makes the process quicker.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I've been micromanaging with 80GB ps3 and have finally decided to take the plunge.

 
So, on 7/16/2011, I bought "Burnout™ Paradise Full Game Plus Bundle" ($7.99), and Big Surf Island ($2.99).  Can anyone tell me what is in Ultimate Edition that I don't have? It won't let me buy the Ultimate Edition, since I already own the game. Thanks.

I believe Walking Dead is a big one that doesn't transfer. I remember being 4 episodes in and upgrading my drive only to find that I had to start over.

You got that right, holy cow! I had to play through the first game to get my 1000 achievement points and it was the worst achievement I had to get in a long while. Actually, now that I think about it, I dunno if I can get a platinum trophy in the PS3 version because I would have to play it again.

Oh goodie, Alice finally hit my price point.  I could never get the PC version of the first game to work for me back in the day, so I can try them both out now.

Do you remember the size. I know on the page it says 800 MB but that seems way too big. Wont have my router back until the weekend. will download it then

about 300 something. Glad there was a demo. Did not care for the demo at all. Saved me 9 bucks

Contemplating Burnout although I'll have to start over again cause I had it on disc but nothing on the new gen has been able to satisfy my need for a good driving game like that game did.

 
So Best Buy keeps sending me emails telling me my PS+ is expiring. Any idea how they know this?

You probably bought a PS+ sub card at BB some point last year tied to your my best buy/rewards and it thinks you need to buy another card. I've gotten two email messages in the last four weeks but neither one coincided with my actual PS+ expiration date.

Definitely what it is. I bought a couple PS+ cards from them last Black Friday. I actually haven't used those cards (c'mon bonus 3 months!!) but have been coasting off of other PS+ deals I've received, and I still got the emails

I don't know that we'll ever see that promotion again. Remember that the last time it was offered, PS4 wasn't out yet. Now that it's mandatory for online play, there's no reason to incentiveize anyone to get it.

We've been getting a couple deals to get it for around $35 as of late, at least, which is almost as good.

I've gotten one for each PS+ card I bought last year. It's far creepier when they start recommending things for stuff I didn't even buy there.

No it doesn't.

Two outcomes means there is a 100% chance one or the other happens.

However, it's still an unknown % chance that a specific one of them happens.

In no way is it ever 50/50 unless it's known each have an equal chance of occurring, like a coin flip, although common parlance makes it okay to use it to mean both options are just as likely.

For example, in common parlance it would be okay to answer the question 'will it rain today?' if there are cloud out. However, if you're in a dry sunny environment the answer would be innappropriate and wrong even though there are still only two outcomes (yes/no).

Your use of 50/50 over the years to answer the question 'will there be a sale' has always been wrong, but I let it slide because it's funny.

The original game counts as DLC so you won't have 100% but you can get the plat.
