So, I've never played the Mass Effect series, but with this sale I figure I could give it a shot.

Besides the actual games, is there anything else I should think about downloading/purchasing?

ME has the Bring Down the Sky mission that was originally DLC included. PS3 never got Pinnacle Station at all, which kind of sucked anyways.

ME2 Ultimate that's in the sale comes with ALL the DLC, so you're good there.

ME3 DLC doesn't go on sale that often. Omega was free through a glitch a while back. Didn't download any of them myself (I played on 360 so can't use that free Omega), they're all set before the end of the trilogy so my motivation was low after the disappointment I had from the ending. They're supposedly mediocre, and Citadel is pure fanservice. They'll probably feel better if you get to play them on your first playthrough though.

As far as needed stuff, I'd only really say From Ashes, which was bullshit day one DLC that cuts out a major party member.

Also make sure you get the free extended endings for ME3. They aren't great, but miles better than the original ending. All the multiplayer expansions were free, so grab those too if you care about that. It's fun, but it was a bit limited for my taste, and my favorite class Vanguard was buggy and I'm pretty sure never got fixed.

I guess I got Mass Effect games again so I can finally get around to playing 3 and see all the hullabaloo myself. Alice Returns and SSX were cheap enough to try out too.

Got Crysis 1 since I plan on getting 2 and I already have 3. It isn't sold physically for 1.

Also got Alice: Madness Returns since that game is hard to find under $20 even used.

I'm so tempted to pick up Mass Effect 3 and its DLC since it rarely goes on sale, but all those next-gen-port rumors for the ME series has me nervous... I can't decide if this is EA trying to squeeze out the last bits of money from all of us before they announce a next-gen port, or are those actually just rumors and I should be buying the ME3 stuff now???

I was going to buy SSX, but upon reading the store page, I noticed there's online passes, and i've been hearing MP is the best part, and Went to the pass's store page, there wasn't a price, does anybody know if it's included?

I am under the assumption that if you buy digital, you get the online pass.

EA got rid of their online passes about a year ago anyways, so you will be ok.
 
Yes, digital is the same as buying new so it's included. EA also abandoned all online passes and they're even free for games that used to have them.
 
The Crunchyroll app for PS3 has finally been updated to include the full catalog - including Japanese and Korean dramas - for free with commericals, though only premium members can watch the latest episodes. (Free members have to wait a week.) You don't need to create an account - just start watching.

Thanks. Looks like I am missing Party, Cops and Robbers, and Toy Car Collection, for a total of $16.97. I wonder if I can get Sony to remove the bundle I bought from my account so I can buy the Ultimate Edition.

It annoys me that when a game has a complete DLC bundle that when they have the UE version of the game on sale they don't also put the complete DLC bundle on sale for the same price (or maybe 50 cents cheaper or something).

When I bought ME2 (on disc), it came with every DLC on a one-time use code (think it was called "the cerberus network" pack) except it didn't include Arrival. Did they fix/change that for the digital release? I might have to buy it just to have ME2 digital and to finally have Arrival...

I don't think ME2 disc version had the cosmetic shit either did it? Anyways, looked up description before my original post to be sure, but it is different.

"The Mass Effect 2 Ultimate Edition includes Mass Effect 2 PLUS all the downloadable content packs for one great price. This includes Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, Kasumi – Stolen Memory, The Firewalker Pack, Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, The Arrival, and more!"

Also, Cerberus Network added a bunch of stuff over time, but not Kasumi, Shadow Borker, and the like. Just Zaeed, Firewalker, and some weapons and stuff. I think the ME Trilogy that ME2 PS3 saw release in still only gave Cerberus Network.

Any of you guys know if Ducktales Remastered has ever been on sale?  I kept thinking it seemed perfect for PS+ too but it just never happened...thinking of just biting on a physical copy

Yeah, it was on sale last year right before Christmas along with Castle of Illusion. If you're on the fence about it, I say wait until Black Friday. No one knows for sure if they will be included in a flash sale that day, but like anything else, Ducktales might be included if they have one. Personally, I'm not buying anything else at full price until then since we don't know what might go on sale.

Fred Meyer (Kroger's western-USA & Canada dept. store) has another double-coupon on XBL & PSN credit (or if you wish, XBL Gold & PS+) between Sun-Wed.  If you're planning to make any digital purchases on either platform, you'll want to stock up on credit at nearly 28% off, because buying $$$ with less $$$ is a good thing.  I'll post pic's once the "save $10/20/30 off $50/100/150" coupon goes online tonight, but I'm uncertain how many more of these they'll run until 2015. :)

I am loving Burnout Paradise, though I am not crazy about the intro loadtimes, though the racing start ones are much better than in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. It is insanely fun, and it makes me wonder what Forza Horizon 2 is like. Easily worth your $4.50.

 
Is Super Puzzle Fighter II displaying as the correct price on PS3? I've been having to buy things on the website for a while now (been keeping my PS3 at a friend's house recently), but it's still showing as $9.99 on the main site, even though I'm logged in and have PS+.

EDIT: Also, is there a way to use my $15 promo credit from October's promo on the website?

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess Puzzle Fighter was part of last week's sale then? I'm definitely disappointed that I missed it, but I'm holding out hope that it'll be on sale again some time soon.

I'm not upset or anything because I know I'll be able to find something to spend it on before it expires next month, but I think it's worth mentioning that it didn't work on the website for me.

It should work fine. Did you actually redeem the code so that it's added to your account? It should've shown up near the top of the page that you had $15 in credit waiting to be spent and that is where the purchase pulls from first before going to a CC.

There was a code? I remember looking over the message I received after fulfilling the promo's requirements, but I didn't see a code on it. Was there another one sent after the fact, or did I just miss it in the initial message or something?

I think you missed it. I know if it's on PS3, there's a button on the PM to take you to the PS Store to redeem the code. There also should've been a follow up email that you can check as a back-up.

Oh, wow. I totally did miss it. I just found the e-mail with the code in my inbox and have added the funds to my wallet since. Thank you so much for the help.

So, I contacted Sony support chat to see if they could remove the vanilla version from my account, and they say they can't.

"Sony, I'd like to buy something that you are selling for the price you are asking."

"No, we won't sell it to you because you have already bought something else from us, nothing you can do about it."

Makes a ton of sense.
