Dragon's Crown is great! Good side scrolling brawler. Feels like Golden Axe with Diablo 2 loot/leveling/skills/quests. The co-op is hectic and fun.

So I'm getting pretty far in Kingdom of Amalur which I got free with PS+. There is a quest at the start of the game called "Long Overdue" where you have to collect 10 books scattered throughout the entire world. I'm 75 hours into the game and have 3 million gold and finally collected the 10th book. When I turned in the quest, my reward was 276 gold. Wow, a 75 hour long quest for that?
This gave me a good laugh. MysterD's girlfriend has felt the same disappointment you felt. :D

Far, far, FAR too lazy to search the thread for the conversation happening a week or two ago about Wonderbook: Book of Potions and its lack of availability, but to whoever wanted to get it for their son/daughter/niece/nephew, it's now available on amazon.com (with Amazon Prime shipping options even).

Thanks! I was looking for my niece.

I'm probably in for Tomb Raider.
To the guy who asked about Dragon's Crown being cross-buy, it isn't. It is CROSS-SAVE, though. Play on your PS3, upload your save (for free), download your save on your Vita (free again), and keep going on your merry way.

Off-topic: is there a Child's Play fundraiser this year?

I assume you mean one that is done as a CAG group effort as opposed to just donating directly?

Edit: Figured out what you meant. I checked the Child's Play event calendar. CAG is not showing up as having its own fundraiser in either December or January at this point.

Is Quantum Conundrum any good? I scanned the Wikipedia article and it sounds like it could be fun, but it sounds like it could also be really irritating.

Edit: Nevermind. I just went to sort the game into a folder, and just resting on the game caused the Presidents of the United States of America to start playing a song written just for the game. This game could suck horribly and I'd play it.

Flim flam argle bargle. How did I manage to not download the last set of free mobile games?! Didn't bother checking because I was sure I had done it when they were first available.
Join the club. I misssed the first batch because they were put up on Thanksgiving, a Wednesday. I thought they were going to do it on the soonest Tuesday. Those were arguably a better pair of games than what you missed. I browsed around for other free games and found one called Adventure Bar Labyrinth. It's a dungeon crawler in the vein of Shiren the Wanderer where you explore dungeons and your level is always reset to one if you die or leave a dungeon. It's fairly tough, but you and enemies take turns moving. I'm enjoying it quite a bit - check it out if it sounds like your kind of thing.

I got one piece and d&d. Side note: As I beat the D&D game I then remembered paying $5 in quarters in the arcade to beat the game. So IMO I saved $1.25.
Yeah boy! I always buy beat-em-ups, fighters, and light gun shooters because they're the same price as it would take you to finish a playthrough in arcades. They have great replay value.

Seriously, you guys wouldn't shed tears over Nintendo being reduced to Sega status? You must be either too young to care, Genesis kids, or have a heart made of hard stone. Mario on Playstation? Zelda on Xbox? My childhood weeps for thee.
Did you cry when Sega was reduced to Sega status? The problem with Nintendo is that they're relying too heavily on their flagship franchises - something Sega didn't even do until they exited the hardware business. When I was younger, I used to buy all the consoles but now that I'm older, I don't want more than one or two. I balk at spending hundreds of dollars for toys. But I might be in the minority as I'd much rather play a new Star Fox or Chibi Robo than Mario or Zelda.

I myself am hoping to get it for Christmas. Then I will play it late at night when everyone else is gone, so that I'm not horribly embarassed when I have to wave my wand or dagger or whatever and say something silly. :)
Judging from the image, it looks to be an import. Also, still not listed on the PS store, which is somewhat frustrating, because she doesn't need another Wonderbook, but certainly better than not being able to find it. Thanks again!

Haha that is them singing that song? Man, what a terrible song. Thanks for reminding me of its existence.

The PS Mobile shooting game, Gun Commando, from last week is decently fun. I mean no it is nothing great AT ALL, and it is very simple, but it was worth a download for free. I'm having some fun with it. I find the controls with analog sticks iffy, but I think that's the tiny analog sticks and not so much the game. I do better if I move with left stick, but aim with the touchscreen. Or kind of a mix - right along for fast turning, but for actually aiming I use the touchscreen. That works pretty well.

I did get in contact with Rami (@tha_rami) for a refund on Super Crate Box, as he had promised me, and he responded and asked if I had paypal. I sent him a response but haven't seen the refund yet. Still I presume it is coming. So, yeah!

They abandoned their core consumer to focus on casual gamers and now that chicken has come home to roost, so no I won't shed a single tear.

I'm 99% sure it's not going to be on the PS Store anyway, except maybe to list it as a Disc Only game. However, yes, the image suggests it's an import (though it mentions the ESRB being 10+). Hard to say, but $29.99 is the price that the game was going to be anyway, I though, and so I'm not sure why someone would import the game to sell it at the MSRP. :p

I am tempted a bit, but with all the reports of it being so short, I think I will just stick with a Gamefly rental on it. I just wish they had more copies so I did not have to wait as long to play it.
I picked it up at Best Buy for $23.99 a few weeks ago and it was well worth that. Not an incredibly long game, but definitely enjoyable throughout.

Runner2 and Furmins coming to Vita on Tuesday.  I could go for some Runner action on my Vita.

Runner will be $10/$8 for PS+ and no crossbuy.

Having played some Runner2 on the PS3 I'd say it would probably be the perfect portable game. Might be a buy although I do have some stuff to get through on my Vita currently.

There's a setting for control sensitivity. Turn it all the way down and it should feel a lot better with the sticks, unless for some reason you prefer the touch screen controls.

So I am playing through Infamous: Festival of Blood for the first time and I can't help but think this is wholly inappropriate for the current season. The only 2 PS3 games I could think of set during Christmasy time were

Hitman HD Collection - Hitman Blood Money - Mission: You Better Watch Out

NiGHTS into Dreams - Unlockable Christmas NiGHTS levels

Any others or even those set during Winter? Trying to decide what to start next after Infamous.
Costume Quest is set during Halloween, but the expansion pack is set during Christmas. I haven't played the expansion amazingly, but the base game is one of my favorites of all time. You have to enjoy (really great, fun, charming) console RPGs, but seriously, if you don't like Costume Quest, you are just a joyless f*ck.

There is and I turned it all the way down, but still the analog sticks are squirrely and now you can't turn very fast either. So, yeah, I prefer the touchscreen for aiming.

Woah thank you! I never knew about the DLC for Costume Quest. I loved the game, I'll have to pick that up at some point!

The Costume Quest DLC is fun, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. It's short and very easy except for the final fight. It is fun, though, and I adore the game in general.

I don't know the fact that it's only $4.99, I love the game, and the time of year is right I might not be able to resist. :)

Is it paid DLC on consoles? Was surprised to see I already owned it on PC and it isn't available to purchase separately, so I figured it was just an update they gave out for free.

Woah thank you! I never knew about the DLC for Costume Quest. I loved the game, I'll have to pick that up at some point!
Right now, for Christmas!!!! I bought Costume Quest like... twice? And I'd buy it again if it came out for Vita or something. It's amazing I haven't played the DLC. I should have played Costume Quest for Halloween this year and the DLC now. Maybe I'll do it next year.

It's paid. I think I got it cheaper than $4.99 when I bought it. Don't get me wrong, if you love Costume Question you will enjoy the DLC. But it is short.

Yeah it's $5 on consoles. Didn't the PC version come out later? They probably just bundled it all together for the PC release.

Just celebrate Ho-Ho-Holloween (like I inadvertently did by starting Infamous: Festival of Blood) and play it now, then play the DLC closer to Christmas

There is something to be said about playing certain games along with their respective time of the year. I played Limbo around Halloween and I think it fit the mood perfectly. I also played Costume Quest around Halloween. So good.

I predict the Costume Quest DLC will go on sale in the next two weeks before Xmas. I hope so at least, as you can add me to the list that very much enjoyed the main game, but $5.00 seems too much for the short extras.

I agree. I also played Skyrim around december, not only I see winter in the game I feel it too as I like setting my thermostat low. That added immersion made the game a bit better lol.
