That's fine, more Okami for the rest of us (because that's how it works).
Pretty much this. Okami HD is one of my favorite games from this generation, I just played the game for the first time earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I understand that genre isn't for everyone, but if you like Zelda style games then you should really check out Okami for $7.

It's stuff like this that is keeping me tied to Sony. They really get it now. I'll be a happy one console gamer this coming gen.
Seriously. I keep thinking about cancelling my PS4 because there's nothing I'm really panning to play right away and I'm so backlogged. Then they keep announcing stuff that makes me think I should still keep it even if I don't play it for six months.

I've decided I'm canceling my order. I love Sony and would love to support them, but as a CAG it makes no sense to get into the next generation right now. I've got way too many PS3 games that still need to be played and it just doesn't make sense to buy a new console now. I look forward to building up my PS4 collection via cross-buy and PS+ though, and hopefully in about a year I'll be ready to snag a PS4 and enjoy all of its glory.

I'll admit I've gone back and forth on this but I figure if I can stick to my guns and be a 1 console gamer I might as well jump in right away. I've got backlog this gen for sure but with the next gen games I'm seriously going to try to buy one game at a time, barring any great sales of course. I might not even buy anything at launch and just see what Plus offers up.

I'm not really at all into XBOX One right now so I hope that stays the same. Oddly as much as I've complained about Nintendo recently I do kind of want to play Wind Waker HD and I'm curious to see the next Zelda in HD. I can wait that out for a long time though when the console is like $200 or $150. Maybe I'll even just grab one used down the line to play those games and then re-dump it.

It's also kind of scary how this thread alone has cut down on my need and desire to head out locally to grab physical games even for flipping purposes. Just too many games and not enough time.

Woke up this morning and checked this thread for the weekly PS store deals and was pleasantly surprised to see Okami HD on sale. Never played it but for $6.99 I'm definitely going to jump on this deal.

I have been waiting forever for a deal on NFS Most Wanted DLC to go on sale.

They finally offer a deal on the "everything included" version.

But those who own the game already, No Soup For You!

Not a cent off the individual DLCs.

This is where I am at as well. Since I recently purchased a Vita that increased my backlog due to all the Plus games and Cross-Buy Games I already owned. Add to it a lot of the PS3 titles I haven't gotten to yet (TLOU, Tomb Raider, Hitman, etc....) and I have a lot of gaming time between the Vita and PS3. By the time I finally get a PS4, the launch titles should be cheap and I should have a nice backlog from Plus and the cross buy stuff.

With that said, after getting a copy of Disney Infinity yesterday my wife is now asking when I will get a PS4 so I can put the PS3 upstairs for the kids to play that and LBP on. I am thinking it might be cheaper to get another PS3 if she pushes that plan. I guess I should be happy she wants me to get a new console, but I just dont think it makes sense right now.

I am guessing this announcement means I can get yet another Platinum for Sound Shapes :)

I just realized how poor the launch lineup is and am less excited for my ps4. I'm not interest at all in buying ports like ass creed or battlefield which wwill be minor upgrades I'm sure. Now to see that it's either knack or killzone makes me sad. I don't think I'd jump to a x bone due to price but that game list sure is tempting.

Why cancel? Sell it to a soccer mom on Craigslist for a profit. If you can't make money on it, return it. You get a generous holiday return period.

I've also thought about cancelling my pre-order and just saving the money for now.

But after thinking about it.

1. There isn't going to be a price drop anytime soon.

2. It and 3 games (2 now with Watch Dogs delayed) are already 100% payed off.

3. My ps3 works perfectly fine, and it's not like I can't just use it again when I run out of games.

So at least in my case, It doesn't benefit me that much to cancel.

I played the demo last night. It was really, really hard to get into. I like platformers but CoI felt slow and clumsy, and for some reason on my TV it had big black bars around the picture. I deleted it after playing for about 20 minutes. Does it actually get better?
I'm talking about the Genesis version you got for pre-ordering the remake, I haven't played the remake yet.

Because that ties up $400 for some time, plus shipping it back to Amazon?
That shipping back to Amazon is a killer for me too. Originally I pre-ordered through Amazon to avoid taxes, but now I regret not getting it from Best Buy so I could at least try and resell for a profit.

Although there sure are a lot of guys on ebay selling their Amazon orders for $700+. I guess they just change the shipping address on Amazon to the buyer's address. That just seems a little too risky for me though.

I'm a lot less excited for the PS4 and the early launch game lineups (really would like a game like Yakuza or something new and not a sequel to series I haven't played like Killzone or Infamous which I only played a bit of the 2nd so far). I'm mainly getting it cause people will want to play Battlefield 4 on it...which is ok...but that will be my only game for a long while till more games come out. Color me not excited but eh having the system for future titles will be good. Just hope by that time there isn't a redesign or price drop (I'm mainly into action/adventure non FPS games and Niche games and RPGS). The vita is really shaping up though and I can't wait for Dangan Ronpa myself and Demon Gaze.

Soccer moms shop on craigslist?
Totally. I converted all of my BB and Amazon credit to cash last year by buying and reselling holiday console bundles that I bought on Bkack Friday. Moved 15+ that I picked up for $200 at $230 each. Not a huge profit, but really easy.

Buyers were almost all parents, mostly moms, getting gifts for kids.

At this point, the aggressiveness of the manufacturers on issuing redesigns (cheaper with more reliable internals) makes me wary of buying a 1st gen model. The Vita is getting one, what, a little over a year after its release? The PS3 and 360 both got TWO revisions in their lifetimes, as opposed to a budget version towards the end of the cycle (like the PSOne, well I guess the 3rd versions were fairly late in lifetime.) Look at the 3DS and its two alternate configurations already on the market.

The Vita is getting a slight screen downgrade and many people believe the original PS3 is the best one.

Well the Vita one is following the Nintendo time frame and is mainly to cut their production costs as they get more aggressive with the pricing. If the PS4/Xone follow the PS3/360 time frame on major revisions those were a good three years apart.

It's stuff like this that is keeping me tied to Sony. They really get it now. I'll be a happy one console gamer this coming gen.
MAN this is such a great announcement, if for nothing else but the Cross-Buy aspect of it. I've already purchased and beaten all of these games, so now I'll get new versions of them for free? Awesome!

I'm talking about the Genesis version you got for pre-ordering the remake, I haven't played the remake yet.
I played both. I always remember castle of illusion fondly but then I played it and am 99% sure I never got past the first level when I was a kid. Thank god for save states I finally saw all the levels!

Pretty much this. Okami HD is one of my favorite games from this generation, I just played the game for the first time earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I understand that genre isn't for everyone, but if you like Zelda style games then you should really check out Okami for $7.
Sounds perfect for me. Gonna grab Okami HD and finally play it. Already have PS2 & Wii copies which I can sell too.

At this point, the aggressiveness of the manufacturers on issuing redesigns (cheaper with more reliable internals) makes me wary of buying a 1st gen model. The Vita is getting one, what, a little over a year after its release? With the price the PS4 is already at combined with the fact that I doubt the XBone will drop more then $100 anytime soon then personally I think that the PS4 is pretty safe from a price drop.

The vita on the other hand needs a price drop, especially to compete with the 3DS (and sort of the WiiU). The revision for the Vita (which hasn't been confirmed for anywhere but Japan IIRC) is to minimize production costs, that way the price drop doesn't hurt the profits as bad.

tl;dr

I feel safe with my PS4 purchase, yeah there might not be that many games I'll have to play at launch but as I said before, I still have my PS3 and a backlog spanning more then just it so I have plenty to keep me busy.

I liked it, I just sorta remember people saying the original was easy but maybe I'm misremembering cause I thought it was pretty tough and I doubt I would have beat it without save states.

Does the Capcom Arcade Collection & D&D need an online connection to PSN to boot like some of the earlier Capcom PSN games? What about Okami HD & RE Chronicles?

it isn't easy for sure. I think people like to compare old games to ghosts and goblins. And this isn't that hard.

R&C Into the Nexus has gone "gold" and comes with a voucher for Quest for Booty.

Velocity Ultra coming to PS3. No cross-buy, no cross-save, but it shares trophies.

For Velocity Ultra, they somehow got all 3 of those things wrong. Why would we want the game to have a shared trophy list, especially when we have to pay for it twice!
Agree on Velocity Ultra. I also think Insomniac was a bit off with their bonus for Into the Nexus. That is supposed to be a game for the long time fans. What percentage of those fans did not already have QFB? I would rather have some avatars or something else as completely useless if it was just something different or new.

Ahh, too bad I already bought the Atlus games I wanted when they had the same sale a few months back, between those and Okami HD I would of been 60% of the way to $50.

Cross-buy for PSN titles sure does make the lack of BC less of an issue and I think it's awesome Sony is giving it a chance. But am I the only one with zero interest in the next gen? The amount of games available for PS3 alone would (and will) keep me busy for at least a year or two, and graphically I'm not feeling like the current gen has reached thd point of retirement yet - just look at GTAV.

Especially given the inevitable fire sales on the current gen... after getting Killzone 3 and MGS4 for $10 total at Gamestop, my cheap ass isn't about to drop $400 on a new console.

Well I can't be the only one pre-ordering this game that only has the original trilogy.

Wait, what? You got MGS4 for ~$5? fuck, I bought it on release for $60 and still haven't played it. I got burned pretty bad.

Did you like BF4 demo that much? I, too, was going to pick up a PS4 on day one just for that game. I absolutely love Battlefied 3, and I keep coming back to it. But after trying out the BF4 demo, I've now decided to not get the PS4 until the 2nd generation of games come out for it, probably when BF5 is out for it. Hopefully, BF5 will be made specifically for the PS4. I have a hugh backlog of top quality PS3 games to keep me busy for the next couple of years. I didn't even pick up the current generation systems (PS3 and 360) until Christmas 2010.

The one thing I can say about Okami HD is that it's a terrible game to start if you're tired. That intro is one of the most boring, sleep-inducing things I've ever seen when starting a game and nearly fell asleep on the stream last night. It took so long to just get to the gameplay that I was elated that they put a save point right at the beginning of the game that told me that it took 25 minutes to get there. There's no way to skip text or fast forward through it, which should've been added to this version of the game.

I don't think I had that sort of experience with a game since playing Golden Sun on GBA.

Is it possible to rewatch your live streams? I don't know anything about Twitch or streaming.

Also, you really have to get out of the first city in Okami before the game starts getting interesting. I think it's probably close to 2 hours of gameplay. Just another thing the game has in common with Zelda. Finally getting the world to open up in Twilight Princess took forever. The game was deadset on making sure I knew every single basic mechanic of the game, which everyone whose ever played a 3D Zelda game already knew.

Okami holds your hand and drags everything out throughout the game.

The Vita is getting a slight screen downgrade and many people believe the original PS3 is the best one.
Who thinks that about the first ps3?! Haha. Thing is a loud, gaudy power hungry bohemeth. Not to mention it came with an inferior controller. Much higher fail rate as well. You're right about the vita, though.

You hit it right on the nail. I can never play it while tired, lol.The fact that the "mimimimimi" nonsense remains unskippable is a crime. Still love it, though. Just have to stick with it. Zelda definitely has the better pacing.

They do if I remember to go back and tell them to archive the stream. Otherwise they only keep it for a few days in one of the dumbest things about the way Twitch works.

I'm not giving up on Okami. I just wanted to point out how bad that game is during the introduction since it's just non-stop story for twenty minutes that could probably be done in five minutes if they wanted to be more concise and user-friendly. I would've done something else if I knew that I'd run into that for the stream.

I think it's actually probably to entice new users to the franchise with the added value proposition since the game is already cheap. I for one will grab mainly because I don't have QFB yet. Lucked out on that front.
