I like Divekick. In fact I like it a ton more than any other fighting game. Because I can't play any of those games with their controller gymnastics. Divekick is very simple on the surface, but does have some depth and is fun. Having said that, all I really play is Spelunky. ;) :)

Oh, and don't make the mistake of first picking that character, can't remember his name, that was the kickstarter designed one. He is super confusing until you play the other characters and understand what his character does.

I agree with all of the above wholeheartedly (minus the Spelunky love). Only problem is finding an online game can take awhile, but that may improve with a larger install base after the sale.

Anyone think soul sacrifice will be released today? Been wanting to play that.
No, today is ibb & boo.

Polygon COD: Ghosts Score - PS4 (6.5) Xbox One (7.0)

I look forward to the good times this gen.

The funniest part is that even though Ghosts ps4 is comparable to the pc version, he completely left that out and groups the ps4 version with the last gen versions.

Unlike every other site, they gave separate scores just to manipulate the audience. Hell, they don't even do this for other games. Where's the different scores for GTA V, etc. showing the ps3 version was superior?

Why do I get the feeling that they will not give separate ps4 and xbone scores to every other game this generation because the ps4 version will be superior a la Battlefield 4?

Arthur Gies and Polygon at it again lol. They were bought off by Microsoft for $750,000 so I'm not surprised.

Just wanted to say I didn't realize until browsing this thread that I had to have an original Dragon's Dogma save to get the eternal ferrystone in Dark Arisen. I just assumed it was part of Dark Arisen. Started a Gamefly free trial and rented the vanilla version so I could have a save for it. Thanks guys.
Ha, I did the exact same thing! Mine should get here today.

This site a fucking joke
Not that I go to the site but any place that gives The Last Of Us a 7.5 is done in my book. Screw them. It's also already been noted they took a huge payday from Microsoft.

But... they have their ethics policy posted on their site for the world to see...how can this be?

So, not to go down this rabbit hole again, but wasn't there a bunch of hoopla about how the X1 version wasn't 1080p like the PS4 version? I haven't read the reviews yet, but that alone has me puzzled that it got a (marginally) better score :whistle2:k

You should probably disregard any recommendations I make in that case :cold:

I've been playing Assassin's Creed 3 so long that I just imagine the folks at Polygon walking by a group at neogaf and hitting O to 'Start Riot'. The run up to this release has been severely entertaining, I just hope everyone can keep their energy up to continue the foolishness.

I guess if you're not a fan of the watch non-interactive cutscene, then play kind of AAA game, I can see it being rated lower. However, The Last of Us is a prime example of AAA games done right. There is no dissonance between the story and gameplay elements, and the developers didn't take the easy way out at the end.

As far as I'm concerned, The Last of Us is a system seller and I advised my coworkers as such when I beat it back during the summer.

That brings my question: would you rather have a reviewer that is a fan of the type of game or genre of game that is being reviewed, or one that is the opposite? I've always wondered which would give you the most honest opinion. Someone who dislikes the genre may nitpick at every tiny flaw, but a fan of the genre may overlook the minor things and not even consider them as flaws in their review.

That's a good point because in the end an opinion is just that. MrNinjaSquirrel may not have liked "The Last Of Us" as much as I did and it doesn't de-value his or my opinion. I think more than anything in regards to Polygon their track record speaks for itself. The only stories I ever hear about the site is how they underscored something. If it's a once in a while thing it leads me to believe they are reviewing games fairly and a certain game just didn't work for a certain reviewer. When it's all the time it leads me to believe they want page views.

Can't say whether the review is right or wrong, but if there are framerate issues on the PS4 that are not present on the Xbox one then it probably does deserve to be scored lower.

However, I know you don't sip the conspiracy koolaid breakfuss, but I can just imagine Arthur Geis' evil grin when he saw all the hubbub about the whole 1080/720 thing and planned this. "When the review embargo lifts, we'll give the PS4 version a lower score despite the better resolution advantage! Perfect click-bait!"

Regardless of all of this, Arthur Geis is a total clown and Polygon awful.

Off-topic for this thread, but can you reduce the PS4 to 720p in system settings? If you reduce to 720p does it resolve the framerate issues and play the same as the xbone version?

Polygon is the only place that I've seen say the PS4 version has framerate issues. Game Informer says this:

The Edge:

There has been much discussion online in recent weeks about resolution issues affecting PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One titles. It's been confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version runs at a native 1080p, but the Xbox One version is upscaled to 1080p from 720p. I played Call of Duty: Ghosts extensively on both next-gen systems on several televisions of different sizes, and saw no differences between the two versions. The experience was virtually identical on both consoles throughout the duration of my play time. If you own both consoles and are deciding which version of Ghosts to get, I'd recommend simply going with whatever console your friends will be playing on.

I can't imagine that they would have put Ghosts in 1080 on PS4 if it wasn't running at a smooth framerate which is you have to figure is the reason that it's not on the Xone.

This may be a dumb question. I know most games have the option to download the demo, then the small full game download later if you decide to buy. I don't see that as an option for Outland. If I purchase it on the web store, will I have to do the download again? Or should I just choose full game unlock from the game's menu?

update is up, catherine is randomly 13.39..., I guess that works out to 33% off.
No Resogun or Contrast yet that I can find.

It's an awesome, awesome game.
I know, played it during my UK trial over the summer and would happily pay about $10 for it but then it will be on PS+ the next month.

This may be a dumb question. I know most games have the option to download the demo, then the small full game download later if you decide to buy. I don't see that as an option for Outland. If I purchase it on the web store, will I have to do the download again? Or should I just choose full game unlock from the game's menu?
As far as I can tell this is how Outland works as well since the game has the demo option on the same page as to buy it and both are 1.2GB. Those usually indicate it's just an unlock file for the demo.

No Resogun or Contrast yet that I can find.

I was thinking so, and I don't see why it wouldn't work that way. Just curious as to why some games show "full game unlock" on the web store, but some don't.

prices updating, just snagged ibb and obb and gunslinger. need to stay away from the store now so I don't get Injustice vita digitally because willpower.

I just showed a brief amount of restraint and cut Beyond Good & Evil from today's buy list at the last minute. Still grabbed Ibb & Obb, Outland, Cloudberry Kingdom, and the Bioshock Infinite DLC. I'm sure I'll be back for Beyond before the week is out, but I'll try to remain strong. Anyone wanna be my sponsor?

Let's do it together! I know I really don't need to buy a game that I'm never going to play and only buying because it's $2.50 and I loved once upon a time.

I'm there for ya man! I never played it the first time around, but I keep hearing all the praise. I keep telling myself, "When you finish off all the awesome games you missed from the PS3 gen, you'll want to play this." But then myself says, "Like you'll ever finish those." And I say back, "But I hear it's short and I can knock it out fast." Then my gimmick dies.

But yeah...solidarity brother.

No PS4 games on the PS Store, so Eldritch is wrong about them going up today. They just fucked up with the expiration of all pre-orders three days early.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is actually 6.7 GB. It's too bad that they neglected to put up the pre-order for that so I could get the bonuses.

I don't feel good now, Frisky was wrong :whee: :

All copies including PSN ones get Quest For Booty. unless they just changed it to add PSN copies.

Either way think I might bite at the $30 to support this effort. I don't have QFB yet.
This is the extent of what they said about it during the announcement:

To sweeten the deal even more, we’re including a voucher code good for a download of Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest For Booty, our first downloadable game from the Future saga. The voucher will be inside physical copies of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus.
There are no replies or comments in that post about it also coming with the PSN version.

I know no one cares because most of you only play Hamsterball, but Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate and the Revenge of the Super Long Title is a really fun game.

No, IGN also pointed out the occasional framerate drop with the PS4 version. As did Giantbomb. I'm not saying it warrants Polygon's score disparity (definitely a little trollish). Besides, it seems less an issue of hardware and more a matter of IW's incompetence. Same thing happened with most of the CODs on PS3.

I'm not saying they were the only ones to notice, just that I hadn't read it anywhere else. Not a CoD fan so I haven't read too much into it.

When you buy the game you get a 6 KB unlock code you need to download to turn the demo into the full game.

After a few of my comments were erased from an article (I was calling into question possible outside influences on a review) I asked them to cancel my account. They tried 3 times to contact me by email to resolve the issue but I kept telling them to cancel it. Never been back to the site.

Good to know. Hoping for a BF sale.

I bought it at $5 and played for about 30 minutes. It's fun but shows its age in some ways.
