Huh. You know what--that's all I want to do too!

On a side note, I played about 45 minutes of the Gunslinger demo last night and I suck at PS3 shooters. Guess I'll have to wait for a nice ~75% sale on Steam so I can get some of that sweet sweet KB+M action.

 

He has trouble reaching the square and triangle buttons. I was thinking a smaller controller would help.

I've seen the rock candy controllers and they are small. I also like that the left analog stick is swapped with the d-pad. Only problem with those is I'd rather have a wireless one so he doesn't get excited and snatch the PS3 off into the floor.


I was actually going to suggest a Rock Candy controller. I use the 360 variant on PC and it's definitely a lot better than most third party controllers. It does feel a but too plastic-y but I doubt your son would care and it's easy enough to adjust to (personally I would recommend getting a set of grip itz for $5 or so, since the sticks are a bit slippery) . I've actually seen wireless models now, though they will run you more of course (I think MSRP on them is $40 vs $15 for wired). Otherwise that would be amongst my first picks, as I've been pretty satisfied with mine (more than I can say for most third party stuff).

Thanks for the input. I've seen a similar afterglow controller before, but I'm pretty sure it was wired too. I have a 6' usb extension cord so I could make the wired controller work.

Edit: Looks like the Rock Candy and Afterglow controllers are made by the same company.

Just "bought" Resogun. Oddly enough it doesn't show up if you go to Games and select FREE from the price list. I guess PS4 games aren't being included in that on the webpage just yet? Or is there an issue with games free with PS+ not showing up there properly in general?

 
For your 3 yr old...  (Not sure I would share my PS3 with a 3yr old...  That is what I have the 360 for...)  

I have a PowerA min-controller.  

It feels good, and is smaller.  The downside is that they are terribly unreliable.

I had one that worked for a while, then it would not charge.  Emailed Power A and they replaced it for free.  The replacement would not charge.  So I emailed them again.  They said no problem...  and mailed me another one.  Guess what?  It did not charge either.  

I have received 3 replacement controllers....  None charge.  I have given up and decided I will just use it as a wired controller...:whistle2:(  But, if you happen upon a working controller, this is a great purchase!!

 
I don't know if it was the system or the network but it took awhile to download Closure last night.  Seems interesting, reminds me of something off of Steam, just kinda indie. Idk, the controls of it or the camera...  Still a fun game.  I also really enjoyed Resogun, I can see that being a fun time sink. 

On a sad note, I got charged the full price for ibb & obb on Tuesday while I got Juarez at the PS+ discount.  So not sure what happened there but I don't guess I will get that $10 back anytime soon if at all... 

 
First off, Frisky that sucks balls. I went the Amazon route and I'm getting mine today. If I could find a way to trade places with you I would as I could hold off until Tuesday if I had to. I'm not home wish I was, I grabbed the 2 plus games. It looks like Flower might be ready for download on the PS4 as well.

Watched the spike thing last night, got me more excited to be a part of the launch. I'll admit though I'm probably most excited about Infamous: Second Son, The Last of Us Left Behind, and the new Uncharted.

Well yeah sort of...Infamous Second Son will be released 3\21\14. The Last of Us single player DLC is called Left Behind...you play as Ellie and you are traversing with Riley (only known from the comic). It takes place before the Joel and Ellie story. Uncharted 4 didn't give us much but it's nice to know it's coming.

That's going to be on a game-by-game basis just as it is now. I imagine most games will still be 30fps so they can push more eye candy in your face. Personally I'm fine with this for most games, and the ones that I'd prefer 60 (namely racing and twitch shooters) will likely be able to pull it off while still being impressive to look at.

I'll take moar framez over resolution any day. If you go to the outer limits of the city in inFamous 1 (near the docks) you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It's like night and day. Regardless, all these games are getting a much needed boost so I'm happy with whatever.

They're upping the resolution for AC4 in coming days (think its currently 900p), so it'll be interesting to see if it holds. Sure hope so.

I'm not familiar with inFamous, but I'm not excusing "slideshow" ~15fps gameplay. 60fps literally gives me headaches for the entire day - not a hyperbole. All movies/TV shows are recorded at 24fps so to see something at 2.5x speed is nauseating.

Did you know soap operas are recorded at 60fps? And ironically all pre-rendered cutscenes are 24fps even in 60fps gameplay games (even more jarring).

Got contrast through the webstore. The store tried to charge me for resogun at least 3 times and I had to empty the cart and try again. I was finally able to checkout for $0.

Ok, I will bite. How does Infamous 1 have anything to do with PS4? Wait, Is there a hack that lets you play PS3 games on it!! WOOHOOO!!! IT is backward compatible!!! I read it on CAG!!!

Also, I only like games that run in 60FPS. I feel bad when the other FPS's get left out on a game that runs lower. Equality for every frame!

Because inFamous has an unlocked frame rate (I believe that's the correct term), so when you are playing it can be anywhere from 60+ to less than 20 (most of the time it seems to hover between 20-30), so if you go out near the docks or anywhere else where there isn't a lot to render the image is much smoother and a noticeable difference between most of the gameplay.

I think Breakfuss was just remarking on how he prefers a higher frame rate to resolution bumps, which I can definitely understand. PC gamers sort of split between the two as well: lower settings/high FPS, high settings/lower FPS. Personally I just want a smooth image with quality V-Synch, since screentearing makes my eyeballs want to explode.

Serious bit: I'm assuming that's not a compliment, in which case rather unpleasant to hear. Most review outlets seem to consider it the best of the launch lineup (at least in terms of exclusives) :/

Resogun looks purrrty. I've watched some streams of it. Looks like my kind of game. I just "bought" it via PS+ for my eventual PS4. Wish that eventual were today, but oh well.

 
I realize this is probably a stupid question, but here goes nothing. I "bought" Sine Mora via Plus today for when I eventually get a Vita, and in the download list the one item said playable on PS3 & Vita. I hit download to PS3 in hopes I'd get the PS3 version. But now that I look through my download list, all Vita games look like that. So nevermind. Thanks for talking me through that guys. Don't let anyone ever tell you you're not helpful to people with dum questions.

That reminds me, last night I drank too many Hydrophobias which caused a bad burn when I was pissing on some Vitas this morning, debating when I wanted to drop some Amys on a PS4. Oh, and apparently you can use Paypal on the PSN store now. Not sure why it took so long, that seemed like it should have been a core feature.

That's the way I see it haha. But I wouldn't describe myself as honorable. For example, I used the Guacamelee save glitch to skip a playthrough for the platinum.

I know both jay and rpg have different personal rules they set for themselves, I'm sure others do as well.
