Not everybody has the same tastes. For me the games that usually attract me to the service aren't hits like Borderlands 2 that most people have already played if they were interested but the games a bit left of center that you want to play but never would have bought. So like Binary Domain was a pretty good example of a good game for the service. Especially if you're like me and really only pay for it when something interests me rather than just keeping it year long no matter what.

Will check out Grid 2 but not that high on racers.

Binding of Isaac as well.

My guess is that they wanted to have a PS4 game for December and thought one of those games you listed would be ready to go, but it got delayed.

It's nice to see Borderlands 2 go free since most of the retail games in US Plus are nearly two years old or went under the radar. Compare that with Far Cry 3, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed 3, and Red Dead Redemption, which were free for Europe over the past year. I already own BL2, but at least we know that the team is trying to get popular games on the service.

The 16 GB might be for both versions. When you buy cross buy titles, it will download both the PS3 and Vita versions.

How much longer will Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen be a PS+ free game?

I am going to try and get that $30 PSN code tomorrow on black friday.

I don't see pay by selective month strategy winning unless you
1) Got one month codes extremely cheap
Or
2) Just aren't interested in playing games

I don't know what your tastes are, but plus offers a wide range of free games. Last month I was beyond excited about Binary Domain, and had discussions with other CAGs about the awesomeness of ibb and obb, now thoroughly enjoying DD:DA and Soul Sacrifice. Before that I tried BF3 though I normally stay away from military shooters, liked Dokuro on my vita for short on the go gaming sessions, just like sonic this month. Double dragon Neon scratched that old fashion arcade itch, had a blast in a couch co cop night.

For $30 a year, it's $2.5 a month, and it's nice to go beyond your normal gaming tastes, and try that awesome Borderlands 2, do a little racing on the PS3 and the Vita.

I forgot what's leaving next, but I don't think it's Dragon's Dogma, and it isn't leaving until next week so you're good.

Ok, sooooo PSN be will offering PS+ for $30 as well?! Hmmmmm. So it's 24 months for $50 (2.08/mo.).

I may get in on the $30 deal if I can swing it with the rest of the holiday stuff. But I don't have a Vita so I don't count any of that, although i definitely see how much better a value it is if you have one. I do have a PSP but it seems a bit hit and miss with that since Vita owners tend to complain if Sony gives away too much older PSP stuff

I have a feeling that Contrast was supposed to be December but when Driveclub got delayed they felt compelled to shift it to November.
 
I've never played a Sly game, so the collection is kind of tempting, but I'm not sure I like the look of the gameplay. Doesn't seem to have combat?

There's combat in all three games, though there's more of a focus on stealth to sneak up on enemies and avoid searchlights. The first game's mostly linear in level design while the sequels feature open world hubs to get to the levels.

 
Thieves in Time was my first Sly game and I enjoyed the open world exploring and getting the collectibles. It was a fun neat game. Especially enjoyed it on the Vita. Still have the collection to eventually play.

As for PS+. Damn every month I am pleased. Another great month and happy most for Borderlands and Sonic for the Vita. My poor memory card.

It was my first game as well, loved the characters, except for Murray.

Initially you only play as sly, his focus is on platforming, sneaking around, and stealthy kills.

In later games they add a couple of playable characters which play differently. Have you ever played MDK2? It's kind of like that. Sly is still focused on stealth and stealth kills, murray levels focus on brute force, and Bentley has more puzzle oriented levels.

Just bought Sonic Transformed for the Vita (and opened it to redeem the now expired DLC code :p) on Tuesday, so you're all welcome that my Deals Karma made it free. ;)

That said it's a great game and totally worth the price of free..

I think I'm starting to realize that I don't like racing games. Kart games are ok but don't capture my attention for long, sim type games (Forza) don't interest me because I don't have a deep interest in the cars, burnout and split/second are a little more my speed with the arcadey aspects but I'm still not invested enough to practice and get 'good' at them. I bet I'll try all of the racers from December PS+ but they will forever remain at 0/1% trophywise.

Add to that that I'm not a big FPS fan and I probably won't get a lot of distance out of borderlands 2. At least I'll be able to find out what golden keys are after seeing them given away a bajillion times over the past year.
 
Borderlands 2 was my GOTY for 2012. It's really smart and well written. BUTT STALLIONS.

Also, every Sly sequel is pretty iterative in design, so Sly 4 obviously plays better than the others. However, I still think Sly 2 is the best in the series, followed by Sly 1. I just didn't enjoy Sly 4 as much.

Same here. I don't like racing or fighting games yet I kept buying them. Well, that's not entirely true, I like some racing games but I can easily get sick of them.
 
Seems like i just deleted my free copy of Borderlands 1 after only playing it a couple times. I'm not usually a fan of FPS.

Don't think I'll pick up Borderlands 2. Maybe Grid.

Is it more of an arcade racer in the same vein as Burnout?

It's an arcade/sim mix like Project Gotham Racing or Need for Speed Shift.

 
Just got Sonic Vita for $15 on clearance at Target. Oh well, I got an extra couple weeks to play it! And Borderlands 2....... I've played that one a bit (understatement)

Not the greatest month for me, but I'll definitely be able to play some catch up

Will the games that are currently free...Binary Domain, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, etc...remain free until the regular Tuesday update as far as is known?

And then Grid 2 and Borderlands 2 become free on Tuesday?

I'm just trying to decide whether I need to brave Walmart sooner rather than later (ie. tonight instead of tomorrow).

Yes, those games will still be free.

@frisky, I mentioned this earlier, but can you confirm if PS+ will be discounted directly from the PSN store? Or did I misread something?

Yes, you're safe, when games leave the PS+ they are advertised in advance, they won't just disappear in the middle of the week.
