I find this link is a good one before spending money or making a purchase.

I keed. I keed. But really you should do a minimum of investigating before spending your hard earned cash.
I actually did read reviews before getting the game. It is only $2.50 and I thought it was good but I was just still thinking about what other people thought about the game.

I started the Demon Souls finally last night. Didn't get very far; basically the tutorial and died in the first level a handful of times. It's very intriguing and seems complicated with all the stats and things going on, but I want to keep playing. We'll see how I feel when I play more than an hour and I'm not terribly sleepy while playing.
Feel free to check in at the CAG thread if you have questions.

they are just trying to throw people off that's all.

I started playing hotline Miami again and enjoying it this time. Much better than those shitty Souls games.
lol, spoke too soon, I see. Eh, whatever. Like I've explained before, overall they rate Sony exclusives higher than any other platform while also beating the metacritic average.

Oh my lawwwd, those pesky little facts.

 These people cannot win with you guys. I'm guessing you believe the GT6 score is only meant to persuade us of their neutrality. Sneaky bastards. Meanwhile, I'm still wondering if Sony purposely holds reviews back for games they predict will have a bad or lukewarm reception.
It's just a funny gag to me anymore. I don't care for Polygon, it's not like a couple well-scored Sony exclusives are going to make up for that and make me instantly adore them. They've had too many questionable reviews and scores in my opinion (on more than just Sony games) that feel like click-bait and Arthur Gies is a grade-A moron just based on what he tweets. Since I don't like them, I'm always happy to fuel the fire against them. :)

Honestly I just think it's funny, I'm not against any single site or review score. It's fun when people get worked up over a specific site. The best thing they could do is to avoid the site all together so they don't get page views if they hate them that much. I know that at the end of the day everything is an opinion. I'm pretty much at the point where I can make my own decisions on the games I want to buy\play. Doesn't mean I can't have some fun with it. :)

your use of anymore makes me think you are related to iatcg.

I'm not defending Gies. Indeed, he comes off as a pretentious asshole. I like and agree with some of their reviews and dislike others. In fact, from what I gather, they were too lenient on Gran Turismo. That series hasn't been fun to me since GT3, and I think the time has passed to excuse its glaring mistakes on the account it has a gazillion cars.

This isn't just about one publication. We should want diverse opinions. It bothers me when people (no matter what platform they root for) can't accept that not everyone likes the same shit, lol. As for Polygon, a few unpopular reviews and a maverick editor have overshadowed the legitimate good. They just featured a craaaazzzy piece on the intersection of gender and gaming, yet no one is likely to mention that. A few people here have daughters or will in the future, and you're telling me it should matter more to us that they gave TLoU a 7.5 (*gasps*) than their brilliant examination of female marginalization in games? I just don't get it.

that's just now how it works though. let me give you an example - say you have jay, mila kunis, an onion, piss, core features, paypal, spelunky, polyg

I think it's interesting that you bring up that article, given your stance on floppy-tit-swinging avatars.

On a lighter un-related note to everything in the thread I just finished Jet Set Radio on Vita. I'm glad I stuck with it despite the wonky controls (from the game not the vita). The game colors just popped on the OLED. Overall though after getting used to it the game was fun and unique. Glad I finally got to run through it.

I tried about 4 seconds of Hotline Miami, not seeing the appeal. It looks like dog poo. Does it change from beat up\shoot dudes in a room and move to the next one? I do like the instant start again after death.

That's cool. How about cross-save? That one seems harder to track down.
Cross Save for Sound Shapes, but it's broken at the moment. If you try to sync saves to unlock all of the trophies you earned elsewhere, it breaks the PS4's trophy sync.

This is what my Terraria trophies look like on my Vita. I'm guessing it's not a good sign.:

(Sorry for a photo of a screenshot. Dropbox just makes it so much easier than actually screencaping it)
It's pretty easy to take a screenshot and upload it to CAG through the browser.

I bought Defiance for $2.50 (with PS+). Is this a decent game or did I make a bad purchase?
If you're interested in something like Destiny, Defiance is a rougher version of what that should be as far as visuals and audience to play with. It's a good game that would be terrible if not for the really good controls.

The clowns at Polygon gave Gran Turismo 6 a 9. Clowns!
It's weird that you're always the one to start this Polygon/review discussion here.

Why in the world is GT6 only on PS3 and not PS4 as well? Or even just PS4? The mind boggles, but it's OK for me. No PS4. Going to see if I can get a copy from Redbox because i have a free 1 day game rental coupon….
Because they could get the PS3 version out now as opposed to having to wait at least another year or two for a PS4 version to be finished. They've said that they'll likely bring an upgrade port of GT6 to PS4 in a year or so.

Is this a joke since he mistakenly called Zen Pinball Pinball FX? Or do we know that The Pinball Arcade will be released before the 16th? With all of the Zen Pinball tables being free because of crossbuy I am starting to seriously doubt that I will fork any money over to get The Pinball Arcade tables on PS4.
'Twas a play on words, so calm down, my good chum.

Not all of the Zen Pinball tables are going to be free. The ones that are available at launch are all of the ZP/ZP2 tables that will be available for it.

That is useful information to have. Thanks.

Unrelated: If I try to purchase something and don't have enough PSN credit, will it auto-deduct the remaining credit before using my card (I have like .68c leftover)? Or do purchases require the entire cost to be covered by one source of funds?
When you go to checkout, the final price will include the credit that has been deducted from the total.

It's an action puzzle game with a trippy narrative, instead of rotating and moving Tetris blocks, you have to figure out the quickest most point racking up way to kill all the dudes without getting killed yourself.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/06/november-2013-playstation-store-top-sellers/

Here we go: it’s the first month of PSN top sellers to include PlayStation 4. We’ve got two separate PS4 charts this month: one that includes the PS3 to PS4 digital upgrade program, and one that doesn’t. The games included in that program did very well either way, of course.

Aside from those, Grand Theft Auto V held on near the top of the PS3 lineup, the sublimely adorable Tearaway tore up the Vita charts, Fatal Frame I and II ruled the Classics section.

Do any of these results surprise you? Resogun is pretty far down the PS4 list, but keep in mind that one’s free for PlayStation Plus members, so its position is actually pretty impressive!

Head over to the EU PlayStation.Blog to see how your favorites fared on their side, and let us know what you think is going to shine this month!

I'd imagine Flower is so high on the PS4 list due to it being free for so many people, but I'm sure it being the cheapest game on the PS Store at launch at $7 helped a lot.

Glad Tearaway is doing well. I've yet to pick it up since I have a mini backlog on the Vita but I do want to get it.

Anyone know what the difference between the 6 GB and 16 GB Ni No Kuni files.  I assume the smaller one is a demo but it didn't seem clear.

I need to know because my download speed is 186 kbps and I can't be downloading two big files.

Hope Tearaway somehow sold well. Being number one on the vita list doesn't necessarily mean much. Didn't realize Flower was only 7 bucks on ps4, that should entice plenty of folks to try it out.

I think it's interesting that you bring up that article, given your stance on floppy-tit-swinging avatars.
I find it equally interesting that you're launching silly ad hominems instead of addressing anything I've said. Am I not allowed to like titties while caring about gender equality?

Additionally, it isn't so much about denying me the pleasure of gawking at nice, juicy breastiez, but more a question of why gaming isn't typically considered a suitable hobby for women (and young girls). Certainly, games like Dragon's Crown (my former avatar) are part of that conversation, but this has more to do with advertising/marketing, and to a larger extent, cultural norms. For instance, why do women have more of an aversion to STEM fields? Polygon attempts to distill that issue...through a discussion of video games. That's goddamn brilliant, and despite whatever disagreements you have with a handful of reviews, they clearly are attempting to do more good than harm. But, what, I'm supposed to take IGN more seriously because they awarded Uncharted 1, 2, 3 and TLoU "GAEMZ of le GENERATION"?. Please.

It's weird that you're always the one to start this Polygon/review discussion here.
It's no coincidence.

Crap. Is my math right that it will take 32 hours to download?

Gigs is Billions of bytes, right?
1 GB is 1,000,000 KBs. If you actually downloaded Ni No Kuni at 186kbps I put your download time at just under 263 hours. I'm pretty sure 186kbps is 186 kilobits per second, and there are 8 kilobits in a kilobyte. So you have to multiply your 32 hours by a factor of 8.

Someone good with computers can correct me if I'm wrong...

All you guys talking about Tearaway make me want to just play it already. Im trying to finish up Lego LOTR Vita first since I finally got my hands on a copy and finally got another vita. Also been trying to finish AC4 but its taking forever as the game has no much side mission and upgrading to do. :headache:

Eh, maybe my comment came across more mean spirited than intended. I like boobs, too. Bro hug?

PS, I've never even been on Polygon's website, so I have nothing to add to this discussion.

Interesting article about Ethan: Meteor Hunter, a PS3 puzzle-platformer that came out about a month or so ago.

Honestly as sad as it may be, I really don't think indie developers can expect to sell their game outside of Steam with any kind of success anymore. There's simply too much competition and too many games that nobody has time and money to support all of them. With Steam and bundles they at least get a lot of exposure, which is what indie developers need the most. Word of mouth is going to do the most in terms of moving copies, but at $10 few will likely take the risk on something that may prove simply average, and even less so if it's not on a platform like Steam (I feel very few buy and play DRM-free copies of PC games anymore). Indie games on PS3 are rather hit or miss I think, which is partially Sony's fault for not making the store particularly easy to navigate nor showcasing undiscovered content as much as they'd need to.

While I'd like for all these indie games to succeed, expectations need to be realistic. A similar thing happened with the developer of Race the Sun, so I'm not sure why other developers aren't taking it more into consideration with pricing and where they have their game listed. Obviously it's good to have confidence in your own game, but it's as if everyone thinks they will be the next Minecraft which is almost always absurdly overselling yourself.

No demo, no sale price, and not much press to someone like me who doesn't follow stuff like this closely = no purchase from me. Too bad, it looks like a game I would enjoy. I would probably pick it up if it ever goes on sale on PSN for $5 or less.

Crap did I miss the monthly Polygon debate?

Um...bias...trolls...STFU breakfuss!

I think that's most of my comments on the matter. Hopefully I got in before the deadline.

Honestly, from looking at reviews and vids of that game, it looks like a complete chore to play. Platformers are good and fine, but this one looks to add annoying puzzle and time limits that make it more work than fun. No surprise it sold poorly on PS3, that's not the kind of game we need there.

If they promote their games and do a good job of getting the word out, they can at least do just fine if not do really well. You can't really use their failure as a sign that all other indies will fail because nobody buys them.

The Ethan MH people didn't do much of anything to promote their game, as you can see from their post history on the PS.Blog. They only posted to say "It's coming!" and then "It's out!" nearly four months later.
