Well it seems to have to power on to actually do anything and standby is just so you can turn it on remotely and charge your controllers. Everything else it seems to do on it's own in the background when it's on. As far as trophies go I've never synced them on the PS4 but when I get one it always shows up in my signature thing so I assume the system's doing something with them.
I downloaded AC IV with it in standby. I turned it on started the download and put it in standby in the morning. When I got home at night is was downloaded.

I don't know if I fully agree with this. I think it may download some updates in standby but not install them. I really wish they would have a more transparent system and even allow changes based on user preference. Perhaps that will come when they include the ability to suspend games. I assume some of the current standby limitations are in preparation/anticipation of that feature.
It tells you under Notifications what it has downloaded/installed while it was off.

the bad thing is the dreamcast version was fun to play by yourself unlocking extra characters, costumes and stages but everything starts unlocked in this version
OH! I had forgotten that there was a Dreamcast version of this game. I'm getting a Dreamcast for Christmas, and I already downloaded MVC2 to burn to disc once I'm allowed to play the Dreamcast. I'll just play it on that. :)

I would word it more like this...

The Walking Dead interactive movies are not as fun as a real game. However, I will give it a pass due to the great story telling.
Meh. I'm with tyler on this one. I don't think the storytelling was good at all. It was heavy handed and similar to all other zombie stories. With added melodrama "choices" about who you save that didn't even change much. Personally, I grew up with graphic text adventures and later adventure titles. But I'm incredibly disappointed with what Telltale is doing with the genre.

I played Full Throttle in my early college years, so I know a good adventure game myself. I do not put TWD in the same category with it though. Unfortunately, I think that style of adventure game seems to be almost dead. Some of Telltale's other games like Strong Bad and Sam and Max seem to be a bit closer to those but I do not put TWD in the same group. I think TWD is more of an interactive movie since the gameplay elements are practically non-existent. At the same time, I think the story was pretty well done. Was it a bit heavy handed? Sure, but it was still entertaining to me.

I will agree the whole choices aspect was a bit over-sold though. It was possible but very unlikely for the ending to change a hell of a lot. That was obvious when I saw the stats at the end of the game on percentages for the final group of people players ended up with. You would expect a bit more of an even distribution.

I know nhl 94 is supposed to be the shit but I always preferred nhlpa 93. Of course neither have anything on blades!of!steel!
I dominated 95. Repeatedly tried to do a season with guys in the dorm but something would inevitably glitch halfway through and Chris Chelios, I think, was at every position on our teams. Probably from the created players from what I've read.

i wish they would just finish fables before they start all this other shit. they havent even released the second episode, or announced a release date for it.
There are different teams working on each series.

And from the PS Blog post:

After that, we’ll have an update on the release for the upcoming second episode of The Wolf Among Us, which will be huffing, puffing, and blowing your house down when you least expect it.

Add me to the camp who couldnt get into DS9.   I tried and tried but it just wasnt for me.  TNG all the way! (Though the movies stunk except for First Contact)

I have the Walking Dead on 360 but I also didnt find much enjoyment in the episodes.  THey werent bad but far from a GOTY like everyone seems to think.

Picked up a $20 PSN card on my home from work since apparently Best Buy doesnt do digital PSN codes?  Coulda sworn they did.  Oh well, NHL 14 is mine tonight!

Any suggestions on the following:

D&D Mystara

Marvel vs. Capon Origins

One Piece Pirate Warriors 2

Also was One Piece Pirate warriors the first one any good?

I love TWD games. I understand why people though, because it is more movie than games. But I will say the choppy loads and glitches piss me off.

Do the EA games go on sale with this steep a discount very often? NHL 14 is the first case I've seen personally, but I haven't been on PSN that long. I don't normally play NHL (I prefer FIFA), but that's a good price. Though I could get Tomb Raider for slightly less... hmm.

Caught the occasional TNG episode during it's initial run, and seen most of ToS and TNG movies, but I recently started watching DS9 proper for the first time (Aka Star Trek: Babylon 5), and am up to the start of Season 4. If one is interested in getting into the series' I would highly recommend getting Amazon prime, as it has all ToS, TNG, DS9, voyager, Enterprise, and a few of the movies for streaming for free as a part of that service.
Heard of Babylon 5, but never watched it. Is it any good? Is it on Amazon Prime and/or Netflix?

Me,too. I don't understand all the love for DS9. I can't get into it no matter how hard I tried. I love TNG. my wife and I recently watched season 1 all over again. She had never seen it before, but she absolutely loves it. I'm still trying to find season 2 on Blu-ray for under $30, so that we can continue the series. I already have season 3 brand new, sealed and waiting. I was hoping to get 2 this past Thanksgiving, but none was on sale. There's still the Christmas sales.

this is likely YMMV, but Target has Tomb Raider on sale for $14.99 this week. At my Target at least, they still have stacks and stacks of the steelbooks. (I also have 2 steelbooks from the $1 glitch over the summer so I could probably send one your way if your Target is out of the steelbook editions)

Cool, Sony just offered me $5 in my SEN wallet for doing a 1 month free trial of Music Unlimited, which I fully intend to cancel as soon as I get the voucher for the $5. :)

Are you joking with us? I can't tell if there is sarcasm. J. Michael Straczynski at his finest (now he writes comic books, which while good isn't as high of a pinnacle). At the time it was also one of the most expensive per episode series'.

That being said.. avoid Crusade.. that spin-off was almost as abysmal as the only aired once Night of the Rangers.

Particularly I enjoyed the Season 4 finale that reminded me of the Canticle of Leibowitz.

Season 5 was picked up by TNT after Fox dropped it.. TNT tried to stick it into a slot with some of it's drama's and, well, people who watch Bab5 don't typically watch TNT so it didn't keep up viewership.

It also helps GREATLY to watch the movies in the correct timeline of the series. It explains a lot of holes and by season 3 you'll get excited because stuff from season 1 comes back.

It USED to be on Netflix. I don't know where it disappeared to honestly.

Bab 5 had spinoffs and movies?

Well, that explains it. Anyone who liked S1 of TNG wouldn't like anything good. :p

But in all seriousness, I think you guys who say you don't like DS9 didn't give it enough of a chance. Did you at least tough it out to season 2 or 3?

Bab 5 had spinoffs and movies?
Stole this from Wikipedia as it's the best watch order that I know of:

In order of series chronology:
2245–48 • In the Beginning (1st film)*
2256 • Babylon 5 station commissioned
2257 • The Gathering (Pilot)
2258 • Signs and Portents (Season 1)
2259 • The Coming of Shadows (Season 2)
2260 • Point of No Return (Season 3)
2261 • No Surrender, No Retreat (Season 4)**
2261 • Thirdspace (2nd film)***
2262 • The Wheel of Fire (Season 5)
2263 • The River of Souls (3rd film)
2265 • The Legend of the Rangers (5th film)
2266 • A Call to Arms (4th film)
2267 • Crusade (spin-off series)
2271 • The Lost Tales: Voices in the Dark
2278 • In the Beginning (1st film)*
2281 • Babylon 5 station decommissioned

Stay away from Crusade/Legend of the Rangers. Crusade might have gone somewhere but it was.. well, not well done. They aired episodes out of order (ala Firefly). Heck, they didn't even finish the season. So sad. Legend of the Rangers was a spinoff but was so terrible it aired only once. Hell I missed the first airing and because they didn't have DVRs back then it took me MONTHS to hunt down to watch. It is the Star Wars Christmas specials as far as Bab5 movies go. Lost tales was a recent Comic-con entry. I think it is lukewarm at best.

I got a $20 PSN card on sale from bestbuy and was intending to use it for WD season 2 but I really wanted to get Tomb Raider on sale for BF but passed for Batman AO.  Now I can get Tomb Raider on sale and have enough left to get Spelunky.  I'm torn on this.

Buy Tomb Raider and Spelunky in that scenario. TWD will be on sale a million times over the course of the next year, just like it was this year, and if you pay for price for it you'll be kicking yourself when it's $5 in six months. Spelunky's not going any lower and Tomb Raider's probably not dipping any lower than $10 in the near future. The only reason you don't buy Tomb Raider is if you were going to buy it for PS4.

I played Full Throttle in my early college years, so I know a good adventure game myself. I do not put TWD in the same category with it though. Unfortunately, I think that style of adventure game seems to be almost dead..
Actually, I think the adventure genre (minus TT even), is stronger than ever thanks to a surge in PC indie game development in the past five years or so.

I agree. Walking Dead is the obvious one but I've been enjoying the hell out of Machinarium on my Vita, and The Last Express and Broken Sword on my Android tablet. And Broken Sword 5 just released for Vita. Then there's bigger games like Stacking and Heavy Rain, both of which are stellar. Now I want to see JRPGs make a comeback.

Any suggestions on the following:

D&D Mystara

Marvel vs. Capon Origins

One Piece Pirate Warriors 2

Also was One Piece Pirate warriors the first one any good?

Music Unlimited is atrocious. So bad in comparison to Spotify. Definitely won't be paying for it after my trial is up, but supposedly I get $5 PSN credit (if you got the email about it), so that's awesome, but wow is it bad.

Back more on topic, I finally started Demon's Souls. I haven't played any of these games yet. At first the game was super easy, then I got 1 hit killed by some big thing and ... loading ... loading ... and then I find myself in  the Nexus. Wander around there a bit, then do what I think gets me back to the game and ... loading ... loading ... and then I shut it off. I will try it again, but this loading stuff is obnoxious if I'm going to be dying a lot.

Heard of Babylon 5, but never watched it. Is it any good? Is it on Amazon Prime and/or Netflix?
It used to be on netflix streaming, don't it doesn't appear to be on it any longer and it's not on amazon prime. It's pretty good, at least through the shadow war arc which spans to near the beginning of season 4, that's as far as I got before it got dropped from netflix.

All but 2 episodes from season 1 (10 and 17) are currently up on Warner brother's website for free streaming if you want to sample it before trying to go to the effort to track down later seasons.

D&D Mystara is pretty fun. Not as replayable as I was thinking it would be, but it's a nice game for the sale price.

source: bought it on launch.

Considering the current thread state... Is it bad I'm enjoying Ghosts' Extinction mode? As in enjoying a CoD game? I'm torn. :/

lol. Star Trek: The Video Game just so happens to be Best Buy's DOTD!

But, have mercy at that 45 metascore.
Have mercy implies that you're about to receive an onslaught of goodness - exactly the opposite of your scenario. What you should do is make a GIF of this game entering the room prompting George Costanza to bowl over little kids as he scrambles out of the room.

Uhhh, sayin "have mercy" generally precedes something terrible.
