Ever notice that more often than not the more money a company makes the more they try to squeeze every penny from their customers by using their goodwill they've built up?

Well that's what Sony is doing now. Sayin2 "our console is number one. We don't need to put effort in these days".

Yeah this will decide when or if I buy a PS5.

Companies only generate goodwill by giving decent deals so that they can get you on lock so they can farm you later. IMO that's why which gaming brand has been on top often changes between generations historically. Companies get fat and take their install base for granted. In the USA at least, Xbox 360 completely demolished the PS3 last gen but Microsoft had no backwards compatibility at first encouraging people to stick around, a higher price, and a ton of half-baked ideas.

What makes the PS5 generation different is, in theory, everything on PS4 will be playable on PS5 right away but better. You gotta figure, it's going to run things at least as well as the PS4 Pro and a lot of people (myself included) are still using normal PS4s.

I personally can't see switching to Microsoft next gen given that I have a PC where they put all of their exclusives anyway.

Hey guys, just want to share my frustration with Borderlands 3 on PS4 PRO.
Currently Borderlands 3 performance on PS4 Pro is not great. Can't get 30fps locked on 4K (should be 1440p) and can't get 60fps on 1080p. Also, game should have an optional 30fps cap toggle. Stuff gets worse when far in the game with big fights.
Tried to contact Randy Pitchford, making a ticket support, tweeting B3 account, and looking at the forums. It sucks and performance detracts me from the game. Xbox One X performance is great, but I dont have the game nor the friends there.

Anyone else suffers like me? :)

I think you need to change from performance to graphics in the menu. i guess prioritizing the graphics actually locks the frame rate at a lower amount and makes the game run better. I platinumed the game and the only major problems i had were with horrible matchmaking and stuttering, excessive loading at menus (which i read they just released a patch to fix)

I have the 4tb version of that drive that I use primarily as external storage, but I played Red Dead 2 on it for about a month with no problems until I was ready to move the game to the internal drive.

No worries about the external HDD. I had been using the 4TB external hard drive for awhile now since my 1TB PS4 Pro had been running out of room, and it seems as fast if not faster than the OMG HDD. Recently, I installed a 500 GB Samsung Evo 860 SSD that I had picked up from Best Buy Geek Squad Certified for around $45, and I can't believe how much faster everything is. I would recommend you pick up the 500 GB 860 Evo SSD, and use that as an internal drive, and use the 2TB that you currently have as an external HDD! They should be on sale right now, with the 500GB going for around $55. That's a no-brainer!

 
Up until June, my Pro setup was a 2tb hybrid internal and a 4tb EasyDrive external that I use solely for storage of games I've completed but don't want to have to redownload if I ever want to play them again.  The in June, my 2tb internal died on me.  I decided to replace it with a 2tb SSD to eliminate possible failure from moving parts.  Once I transferred Red Dead 2 from the external EasyDrive to the internal SSD, the load times were reduced dramatically.  It's like, the external was giving me "normal speeds" but the internal SSD was giving me "turbo speeds."  I'm glad I sprung for the SSD.

Agreed, I played it splitscreen during the free weekend, and the framerate was really low even on a Pro.

I remember the framerate being fine on The Handsome Collection even with splitscreen, and the game doesn't look any better graphically than that, so it's something that boggles the mind.

Up until June, my Pro setup was a 2tb hybrid internal and a 4tb EasyDrive external that I use solely for storage of games I've completed but don't want to have to redownload if I ever want to play them again. The in June, my 2tb internal died on me. I decided to replace it with a 2tb SSD to eliminate possible failure from moving parts. Once I transferred Red Dead 2 from the external EasyDrive to the internal SSD, the load times were reduced dramatically. It's like, the external was giving me "normal speeds" but the internal SSD was giving me "turbo speeds." I'm glad I sprung for the SSD.

After I had installed my SSD on my Pro, I was disappointed with myself that I didn't do this 2 years ago. I've purchased quite a few different HDDs for it since then, but should have gone with the SSD in the beginning! The difference in speed was an eye opener!

Xbox has been getting most of my gaming dollars lately. They just gave me another 4 months of game pass ultimate and a $10 code for free. Their reward system is pretty nice - quests for playing game pass games and other stuff has banked me enough points for about $200 in store credit. It's a good strategy - it increases the chances I'll upgrade to the next gen Xbox before PS5.

Yeah, I fired up Handsome collection too (on X) and man, 4K native 60fps locked. Lovely.

We just finished BL3 and it wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. Felt like their gun system was really lacking. It would make zero sense why one gun was absolutely demolishing enemies, then another gun on paper should have been stronger and would perform like dogshit. I understand the game mechanics, class skills, and elements vs enemy types, so it wasn't a lack of fundamental understanding -- game just made no sense. Got to the point where certain items that were 10 levels old were still rocking enemies while the new legendaries I'd get just sucked. Otherwise game was solid, but got pretty boring by the end.

 
I loved BL1 & 2 with all of the DLC and played through both multiple times but 3 was disappointing. It wasn't a bad game just mediocre and I have zero interest in going back to it after I finished it even though I bought the edition with the season pass.

I do agree with this, I wanted to use all legendary guns but I had so many low level guns that outperformed them finding new guns became more disappointing than anything.

 
I enjoyed the gameplay in Borderlands 3 more than the previous games, but the story wasn't anywhere as close to the quality of Borderlands 2, for me anyway. Still a very enjoyable experience, but I can definitely understand it's not for everyone.

I'm really tempted by the sale for Days Gone, but the idea of those hordes gives me anxiety.  :ziplip:

 
Disappointed that the playstation hits cases are red for whatever reason. Super ugly. Maybe you all knew that before ordering but I didnt. Wish i wouldve just bought digitally instead.

Sony started the ugly red cases with the PS3 Greatest Hits. It's an eyesore I hoped they wouldn't continue with the PS4 cases. No such luck... At least with PS2 games it only had the red banner across the top, the cases were still black.

Edit: What I'll likely do with my PlayStation Hits copy of GT Sport is put the cover/artwork in a blue case.

Unless my perception is wack the cases are bigger too for whatever reason. Good idea about putting the Hits into the normal cases of other games that arent really important. Think I'll do that with the games I was planning on trading in to GS.

It broke the game super bad. They just released an emergency patch to Steam. Hopefully PS4 and Xbox get the patch soon. My game saves are almost unplayable now. I understand that they are a small indie development studio, but I really wish that they would have QA testing for patches before they send them out into the wild.

Do any of you guys have a 2tb firecuda or another 2tb internal drive to recommend for PS4 Pro (such as the Western Digital Blue)? My Seagate that I shucked from the enclosure years back has been beeping loudly lately and also recently exited a game. Not sure if all 2tb internal HDDs beep because they draw too much power or it's just mine. Not going to go with a 2tb ssd because they're still too much.

Days Gone starts out rough but it gets much better. Originally I was thinking of it as gaming junk food, but it's been feeling more and more solid over time. There's still a few things I wish were more polished (stealth, for instance) but I'm having a great time. It's an easy recommend if you can tolerate its opening hour issues.
