Then S owners will play games at 30 FPS on lower settings and be fine with it like I'm doing on my 2013 PC now?

Consoles are basically just PCs now. Offering lower spec modes is easy.

These machines aren't as revolutionary as people are telling you overall, it's just the switch to SSD computing paradigm that matters (and the XSS has an SSD).

Yeah. The Xbox One X and PS4 Pro make it look about as good as the slightly older videos on YouTube, when people would mess with the game files to get it running at 4K. It's not a huge remake or anything. And, there's actually some weird hitching and stuttering when running along, that I don't remember in the original game. Also, caves are dark as hell now. Trying to revamp the lighting system has made caves unbearably dark, to the point that I have to turn up the brightness on my television. Also, my character almost seems to always have a permanent shadow on their face that only goes away when chatting with NPCs.

Half of those were actually other members on the site pretending to be me for Trolling purposes. My only true accounts are this one, Zantra1999, and Zantra3000. And, the only reason why I made alternate accounts in the first place, was because a few years ago the site was having an issue with Twitter logins, so I couldn't access this account, and I used to do the Cartwheel/Circle deals for Target every week, so I made a new one specifically for that, until I was able to get this one back. Not that I need to explain myself to you. But, I've only had three Zantra accounts on here. And, before then I was known by a slightly more offensive screen name, especially after the events of September 11th, So I changed ZanthraXXX to Zantra. And, the rest is history.

ssd wise the problem there being that they are expensive or at least pricier than a regular external.  So it's not a great solution to just buy one if you need one. And there's the issue of lack of usb slots.  My ps4 has no free ones between the charger and external 10tb hard drive. So I don't look forward to that issue being present again next generation.

Loading times wise I haven't had much of an issue there on anything other than fire emblem 3 houses. Probably the next closest that I can even recall were Ys 8 switch and ff15 ps4 and the former is barely noticeable as I rarely had time to read the damn little info drops they put up during loading screens. 3 houses has the worst loading times in a game for me since last remnant on the 360.  I don't even understand WHY they are so bad in 3h given that it's fricken fire emblem and there's nothing going on to justify it.  It's not remotely an impressive game in any aspect and hypothetically I bet it could have been on the 3ds given that echoes had the explorable dungeons and still ran perfectly fine on there and that has more to it than 3h.

Only other games that come to mind were berseria, so5 and vesperia ps4 wise and their loading times were mostly tiny and negligible.

SSDs that are compatible (i.e. capable of following Sony's proprietary data priority system/able to hit the 5.5 GB/S) with the PS5 are going to be necessary for running PS5 games. Only PS4 games will be executable off of a portable HDD. Which means, stuff released this year and later (most likely PCIE 4 current gen SSDs). They are going to be pricey for a few quite a while. On a plus note, only the new consoles are going to really put that technology to use and PCs are going to be struggling to keep up, which will probably bring about some rapid changes in the PC ecosystem.

if i had to evacuate id have to leave a lot of stuff behind but i would definitely take my gamecube collection. i keep it in a tub with a a handle anyway so id just chuck it in the trunk. not the systems, just the games. a complete gamecube system is worth half as much as one of the games in that tub, and i think the rest of my retro collection combined is worth about as much as just my gamecube games. id also take the switch i guess, it would barely take up any room in the glovebox.

Yup. I can toss the console and my desktop in the car with the dogs/supplies and save the vast majority of my valuable non-furniture items. Not 100% digital but certainly makes it easier to pare down physical stuff in case of emergency. I live in a hurricane area so I a plan if we ever need to evacuate.

Then again, digital and physical are the same shit. The only thing the disc does is run the license when you start it, whereas the digital the license is contained in the game itself. Once you install the game, the disc is basically not used other than what I mentioned lol.

Both consoles should have had at MINIMUM 1TB.

How are game sizes in relation to current gen? 825 seems low when games such as COD take up dang near 200 now. I'm not one that knows a lot about how games are optimized, but I would assume better graphical games and more content equals larger sizes, or is that wrong?

I played a couple hours so far and it's been pretty forgettable. I'm a fan of walking simulators and the best ones give you reasons to explore the area and this has none of that. You are in this big cabin resort and there is almost nothing to interact with (in any meaningful way) or things to do. I went in like 20 rooms at the start and there was nothing in any of them. The only things of interest I've found are in the rooms they've told me to go into to progress the story which has been a snoozefest so far.

Yes and no. Higher quality assets will require more space, but there won't be as much asset duplication (required on older drives to make sure that needed data can be loaded quickly enough). There will also be hardware based compression which could be a game changer when it comes to install sizes.

You're better off putting them on a big external drive than keeping them on the internal drive.

My PSVR needs a USB port.

My PS Headset needs a USB port to communicate.

Hell, maybe I want a USB port to charge a controller or sync a controller.

Maybe Skylanders or Disney Infinity will have a new game and a new base to plug in.

My original PS3 had 4 USB ports. How many USB ports will the PS5 have?

If it's 2, then that's not enough. For the money we're spending, I shouldn't have to unplug anything to plug something else in.
