I'm not biting on the Demon's Souls Deluxe, I took a look at it and said "nope".  Simply not worth it.  If it is like previous From games, there is always a catch when they give you something powerful early.  Like the dragon's tail sword in Dark Souls, hit like a truck when you got it but ZERO scaling made it worthless as you leveled up a bit.  $20 for an early bump up in power seems wasteful and pay to win.  And if BluePoint is actually giving you end game quality gear that means it takes out the fun of earning new stuff when you can equip it the moment you spawn.

If it included hopeful later DLC or a Season Pass, then it might be ok, but not for items that will rot in your bank later.

As far as Sony's clumsy handling of save game transfers (or lack of them), I guess that means I'm holding off on playing some games for the PS4 for now like Ghosts which I had been itching to get back into.

This is why I’ll never buy an all digital console until it’s forced on me ... all these sales that Sony and Microsoft have are 95% repeats of sale prices with an occasional good deal thrown in. Mostly though, prices remain the same during each sale, even after years have passed.

Same thing happens on Steam, which is why I’m glad Epic is pushing into their territory. Can’t tell you how many times Disco Elysium has gone on sale in the past year and it never drops below $29.99. Deals die when digital wins.
 
It'll be interesting to see when they announce how PS5 will be incorporated into PS plus.  If I recall correctly it was really cool at the launch of PS4 because there were new indies being released as PS plus games.  Part of me thinks they might try to cheap out somehow but we will see....

 
Thanks for the links...back to Spiderman chatter:  Yikes, that's not an improvement.  It looks like beyond the face change, they also took some bleach and applied it to all the characters' faces.  Hmmm, killed my interest in getting this on release.

 
The new face doesn’t look that bad in motion. Definitely doesn’t kill my hype for the graphical improvements, considering he wears a mask for 90% of the game.
 
Remaster looks way better. PS4 Peter Parker looks like a 40 year old chain-smoker whose kids got taken by Karen

 
PS4 is obviously supposed to look vaguely reminiscent of Andrew Garfield, but he ends up just looking old. New one is obviously supposed to look vaguely reminiscent of Tom Holland. He looks a little bit too young, but not really. Pretty appropriate for the college-aged character.
 
And why do you assume this is some sort of huge effort taking undue "time and resources"? I'm sure they would have needed to remodel the character anyway. Changing the look wouldn't have taken any serious additional effort compared to not changing the look. And the benefit of having the character look more vaguely reminiscent of Tom Holland I'm sure is an advantage to them that pays off.

This. I like the new look of Peter. Looks a lot younger than the original.

Honestly, I feel the same way. I wasn't a fan at first, but now I'm genuinely intrigued to play the game again with this new design.

The funny thing is the new model Ben Jordan is 26, the original face model was 21. Tom Holland is 24 and plays young Peter Parker.

 
It's all unnecessary. Every bit of it. The change. The outrage about the change. The defense of the change. None of it needed to happen.

Sure it looks nicer, as it should in better hardware, but why is it necessary to completely change the model? They didn’t do it for all the other characters. It all just seems like a giant waste of time and money just to try and justify it as a “new game.”

These side-by-sides really show off the things they added to the game. I don't mind paying $20 if it looks that much better. The devs said they had to change the face model to match the voice actor better. Not sure about the other characters and why they weren't change. Only thing I could think of is the voice actors for the others also did face capture unlike the Spider-man voice actor.

People acting like a 23 year old is going to look like some grizzled veteran.

I liked the original model and have no problem with the new model, which will be showing up in Spider-Man 2 eventually.  However, creators need to realize that fans really do not like big artistic changes like this that are made after the fact.  I wouldn't be surprised if Sony and/or Marvel had a hand in this to bring this version more in line with the cinematic version.

Here’s the company line: In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.

I like how games such as Injustice and Lego Harry Potter are in the "Games of a Generation" sale inspite of being games of a different generation.

No ones forehead has that many wrinkle lines though usually. especially not at that age the baby faced character in the second image is.

I have to agree that they went a little too young for the recast. But it's whatever.

I’d like to present the last page and a half of this thread as proof that CAG doesn’t need Zantra to have stupid conversations and therefore his account should be reinstated.

I said before I was hoping for a return of the 20% off coupons in the package. That would ease the pain of these day one $70 games. I assume it'll be some time before PS5 titles go on sale digitally.
