Ah so it’s Insomniac being idiots and not Sony (regarding save transfers).

Also the “up to 60” even makes it sounds like it’s a struggle for it to get there. They could just say performance mode on ps5 gets you locked in at 60FPS. Hell, just watch all the BC videos Digital Foundry has been doing for the Series X. A lot of these games hit 60+ WITHOUT a patch by the dev. Just based on better hardware. And here we have Sony devs saying “up to 60FPS with performance mode.” The language does not inspire confidence.

Not really - this is the PS4 version running via backwards compatibility, not a native PS5 game, which is where the save transfers are apparently an issue. Saves will transfer for PS4 games no problem, but if there's a PS5 iteration (the Spider-Man games) then they don't transfer between generations.

 
So I wonder if it's going to be impossible to add PS plus games for other systems into your account if you don't have the system, like I don't have VR but I have the couple games that they gave away and people could have been claiming all the free PS Vita games even if they didn't own one. I'm not going to be getting a PS5 at launch, I hope I don't miss out on whatever PS plus offerings because of it. in the same way it'll be messed up that PS5 owners who don't have a PS4 won't be able to claim those free games. Hope they don't screw us like that

While what you're saying may be true, if it truly was a new PS5 experience I don't understand why you can't buy it as a standalone game. None of it makes any sense at all.

What are you talking about? You can buy Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man: Miles Morales as standalone PS5 games.

Last I knew that the only way to get the PS5 version of Spider-Man was with the deluxe edition of Miles Morales. Insomniac specifically said that the only way to obtain it was to get a fancier version.

Yeah I thought that as well.  I don't believe the original spider man will be available outside of the ultimate edition.  Much like persona 4 dance in the p3 and p5 dance bundle on ps4.

 
I thought it was unclear and there might be an option to upgrade from either PS4 Miles Morales or standard PS5 Miles Morales. I assumed that any version of Miles Morales can pay the extra $20 and access OG Spider-Man on PS5 ... but I guess we’ll see in a couple weeks.
 
Going by that post there's an option to in game use a paid upgrade offer to get spider man remastered if you own the ps5 version of the other game.  So basically yes the game is unobtainable by itself. The only difference here is that it's possibly obtainable without the ultimate edition.  Possible being the important part as you are paying to upgrade to something to get this version.

It sounds like the fancy PS4 Pro options are just going to work better on the PS5. They may be doing a title update to take advantage of the new hardware similar to updates for the Pro or One X, but it's not running natively on PS5. I think Sony is just trying to talk up their backwards compatibility for one of their most popular games, which is fine, but yes, confusing since they didn't explicitly say it was the PS4 version. You can bet though if it was a real PS5 upgrade (like Spider-Man) they'd be showing it off more.

I was thinking they did say it was rebuilt from the ground up but could be wrong. Either way, I’m taking a wait and see approach since I’ve finished the original and DLC. It’ll take a lot for me to double-dip it for $20 knowing it’ll either drop or hit PS Plus eventually.

Yikes, NINE versions of Cyberpunk! I read about and watch a lot of videos about infamously terrible video games because schadenfreude is a helluva drug, and one of the most common issues that leads to awful big-budget games being released is having to develop multiple versions for different platforms. And I've never seen a game launch with that many versions on day one. Crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Cyberpunk will be great. However, it's not unlikely that there will be a clear hierarchy of quality with all these versions. I'll be playing on my og ps4 and that will probably require a flood of a patches over the next year, I'm sure. I'm really interested to see the performance comparisons & analysis of all those different versions by Digital Foundry after it releases, should be interesting.

True, but that's still more of a headache than 4 versions that need to be tested on 4 systems.

Really, they should have released the current gen versions first, and held off on next gen for several months at least.

But I'm not complaining. At least now I have more time to play Yakuza Like a Dragon and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

So what's going to be the next remastered Sony game after Spider-Man? All these enhanced on PS5 games seem to be doing nothing more then what a PS4 game running on the system should be doing by default anyway.

I second this... especially Resistance... but all 5 games, not just a PS3 trilogy. Same for Infamous.. make them franchise remasters.
 
Looking to get Destiny The Collection. Is the only way to get the game with all DLC at this point just buying it on PSN? Surprised that it’s $60 still and hasn’t been on sale since August 2018. The physical edition came with a DLC code that expired in 2018 unfortunately...

I think someone at Sony just hit the wrong button, I got a "Welcome to PlayStation Plus" email, despite not changing my existing subscription.  It can't be from an auto-renew either since I don't even have a CC on file.

EDIT: It's exactly 1 year from my current expiration, so probably some weird bug.

Nice to see the rumor/leak was true.

Also super glad to see the PS+ collection games work like normal PS+ games, play them any time you want as long as you're subbed. Was worried they'd be temporary.

 
Assuming anyone with PS+ can claim it, but PS+ Bugsnax will only be playable on PS5. It’s also launching on PS4 and PC, but PS+ only gives you free access for the PS5 version.
 
That's cool that they give you almost two months to redeem bugsnax. I figured with all the attention that game was getting in their state of play and what not that it would be free for PS+
