It goes back to killing the rewards program and censoring games. Raising the price on plus but taking away 2/3 of the free games when they removed PS3 and Vita. The removal of flash sales and the discounts on the weekly sales are not nearly as good as they use to be. And this doesn't count the missteps on the PS5 which have been many.

And it doesn't help when the competition is killing it on the value proposition with game pass, backward compatibility, rewards and arguably a better machine. I've soured on Sony a lot and hope they can turn it around. It all seems to have started when Jim Ryan got more power.

You're right about all of that, those are really good complaints... Complaining about the lack of 1440p support and SSD expansion at launch is not. Remember, only 7% of people on Steam use the 1440p resolution and you will be able to install around 12 PS5 games without issue. None of that is pressing right now or needs to be ameliorated at launch. They're just not good reasons for consumers at large to not buy a PS5. They will be relevant for very few people.

in a strange twist, seems like sony made quite a few less digital versions than disc versions. really weird because a digital version really locks them into psn purchases. but i guess they knew the demand wouldnt be there as much at launch.

 
They produced the DE strictly so they could hit the $399 pricepoint on paper. I'm not sure exactly why they seem to have concluded internally that selling more of the disc edition is beneficial to them, but I'd guess they're making more money (read: losing less) on these systems since the cost of a BD drive is a lot less than the $100 price gap.

My store has 50 systems and only 10 of them are digital (all preordered, no extras btw). It's curious that every store I looked at had at least double the amount of Xbox's if not 3 or 4 times as many. Maybe Microsoft is pushing everything they have out at once and Sony wants to play the Nintendo card and trickle them out?

How do the preorder numbers for Xbox’s compare? Are all of those unit spoken for as well? Just interesting because every recent poll I’ve seen has shown much higher interest in the PS5 and lower stock is going to make things interesting.

They only sent stores the amount that were preordered for pickup so all 4 skus are spoken for across the board.

SAD editions are roughly 20-25% of the allocation so very low supply. That said, I would imagine BB (if not all retailers) will have allocation for shipping tomorrow night. They've committed to having some stock on launch day, but it will still be ridiculously hard to get one given this is a last ditch effort and demand is through the roof.

mine arrived in a yellow padded bubble envelope about 5x8 size. said it was from SIE LLC in Texas. Didnt have a clue what it was until I opened it.

 
I can’t imagine a ton of people were going to drop $200+ on a compatible expansion SSD right away.  I’ll be waiting for prices to drop before getting one.

Pretty much going to bite on a 1 TB one likely whenever Microcenter has a sale on a compatible one sooner or later. I wish drives of this size+ and speed were cheaper for sure.

At $200, it wouldn't even be worth it. The first supposedly (based on specs, not Sony's whitelist) compatible drive is the WD SN850 NVMe. The 1tb is $230, and let's face it, 1tb is going to be nothing with the size of games and the fact that you can't even backup PS5 games to an external right now. The 2tb would be the way to go, but at $450, it's damn near the cost of the actual console.

As bummed as I am about not having any compatible HDs at launch, I can wait for the price of a 2tb to drop.

In fact, I am so unthrilled about the PS5 that I'm selling mine when it gets here. :bouncy:
I'll probably pick it back up for real in a year or two.

At $200, it wouldn't even be worth it. The first supposedly (based on specs, not Sony's whitelist) compatible drive is the WD SN850 NVMe. The 1tb is $230, and let's face it, 1tb is going to be nothing with the size of games and the fact that you can't even backup PS5 games to an external right now. The 2tb would be the way to go, but at $450, it's damn near the cost of the actual console.

As bummed as I am about not having any compatible HDs at launch, I can wait for the price of a 2tb to drop.

At $450 for the 2tb, it might be worth it to just grab a digital PS5 along with the disc PS5... if you have the shelf space.

I'd like to see them refine the amount of storage they take up for 'save states' and their OS before asking us to shell out money on a solution to their problem honestly. If we find out things like these new 'tips videos' are stored locally or being able to hop back into a game from a cold boot is taking up a ton of space, then I'd expect options to turn that shit off.

Already said it but it bears repeating: it was a dumb thing to say, and I apologize.

In other news, I've tried AC: Valhalla on PC now and it's...surprisingly good? I didn't like the Greek one at all, story didn't grab me or the setting. But this has me hooked. Only complaint is that the animations are lacking a little polish; there's just a few janky points... I may stop playing it on PC and pick it up for PS5.

For those curious about Gamesharing, it's been confirmed that PS4 & PS5 will have different primary activations. Also digital PS4 upgraded games will grant an entitlement to the PS5 version instead of replacing it, and you'll be able to play on both systems. So you could theoretically have a PS4 copy of ACValhalla you could also play on 2 PS5 systems (resell + signed in to the owner account).

I guess I'm getting greedy.  The comic strip one would be easy and fun for me.

It is not. His Scarlet Spider suit is in there which is nice, but the Ben Reilly Spider-Man suit is IMO the best Spider-Man suit to date. Dunno why we need three different movie costumes all closely based on the original, and can’t have one of the only good 90s costume redesigns.

Just got an in-system notice on my PS4 that my cyberpunk 2077 preorder is being delayed to Dec 10. I can cancel my order via chat or else if they don’t hear from me they assume I want to keep the order.

Ummm, I didn’t preorder that game

I just got the same message, also never pre-ordered. The new ps online infrastructure really needs a ton of issues ironed out it seems.

So I never got any sort of e-mail about it being shipped, only a confirmation e-mail about my order. But after snooping around online, I discovered that it's being sent via FedEx from SIE in Texas. Not only that, but because I had previously signed up for a free FedEx account, all I had to do was open my FedEx app and there it was in my list, saying it's due for delivery in a couple days. If it was shipped to you, it may show up if you sign up for a FedEx account and pull it up. I think it matches your account based on your address.

 
I got an email yesterday from FedEx telling me that I had a .1 lb. package from SIE set for delivery on Wednesday. First I had heard of the PSVR adaptor since the initial “We’ll let you know” email after I submitted a request for one.
