What happened??

It was never delivered on Thursday and the sparse tracking explained nothing about why, so I talked to the CS and they said some sort of glitch caused my PS5 to not ship out. They put in a ticket on Friday to get that fixed and get it shipped out, which I assumed would take until sometime next week to be resolved. Surprisingly, it shipped Friday night to be delivered on Saturday, but when I woke up, I found out another email was sent out a few hours later proclaiming it undeliverable, cancelled the order automatically, and I'd get a refund. Talked to a CS to see what the hell happened to cause this and they couldn't figure out what the issue was but couldn't do anything out it, so I got a refund and told them I was done with Amazon over this whole situation.

I found out somebody in Akron had the exact same issues and they just opened up a new fulfillment center on Tuesday, so that seemed too coincidental that it somehow ed everything up and caused people that pre-ordered a PS5 around here to get all of the same issues. No clue why it happened, but it stretching out over three days meant I missed easy opportunities to get a launch unit, so now I get to play the fun game of hoping Best Buy or Sony Direct will have some units to sell over the next few days.

As a cheap ass I’m tempted to dump my old generation of consoles but I’m hesitating to keep my one x for game pass and keep the ps5 as main. Anyone else with both doing the same?

I was using an OG PS4 so getting a PS5 was definitely worth it for me just for the boosts to old games alone. I have an Xbox One X and feel no need to upgrade it anytime soon. It's still a great Game Pass box.

I'm keeping my PS4 because I like to keep my old consoles.

Not sure if this has been said but I had bought a 12 TB external WD hard drive to use on either the XSX or PS5 and when I tried to set it up today on my PS5 it said it doesn’t support external HDs that are larger than 8 TB. Not a huge deal since I can use it for Xbox but figured I’d mention it here in case anyone with a deep backlog and a lot of digital games is planning to try something similar

The Dual Sense is a bit heavier than Dual Shock.  Trying to decide if I should keep a Dual shock around for my PS4 backlog.  However the vibration is so much better, so it will be a tough choice.

So far I don't like the new trophy sound and not able to transfer my old trophy screen shot over.

Everything loads super fast.

Can't seem to buy anything on Playstation store (US or otherwise). When I go to a game page on the store, it shows "Editions" but they're all blurred out.

That's good to know. I assume the PS4 has the same max disk size limitation? I currently have a 4 TB external on my PS4 and it is full. I was thinking of getting an 8 TB external for the PS4

BTW I also purchased a WD 12 TB for my Xbox Series S. Works great on the Series S.

I have to agree, not a super fan of the UI. I know I will get used to it but it just feels like I have to press more buttons to get the same info or do the same things I did on the PS4. It also feels really disorganized with icons just tossed everywhere. It also really irks me that I cannot hid items in my library at this time or that it keeps defaulting to most recent for the order. These are things I am sure will be fixed up overtime as the PS4 UI was pretty bare bones when it launched as well. 

Biggest bummer for me is lack of themes but I think they mentioned those were coming eventually.

So weird. I did it on Thursday morning via the new webstore and I just checked, yes, it is in my library under the PSPlus tab.

When I go to the game now, it does not say it's purchased but has a price of 24.99.

Update: just clicked on the game in my library. Yup, now it says I can download from my library (PS5 version only)

I don't have a PS5 in my hand yet to see if I can download it though

I am getting used to the extra steps to close games, which I had to look up as it wasn't intuitive. My PS5 also crashed yesterday playing Spider-Man remastered. My external was updating a game too. What I hate about the PS5 is it doesn't say which games on my external failed for the most part when it downloaded. I think I have 10 unknowns. Going to figure them out so I can transfer them back to the PS4. I also think it failed my Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ and Fist of the North Star, so I'll see if they will install correctly if I put the disk in. Going to be one of those case by case checking games to see if they work and it's not going to be fun especially when it was unknown couldn't install. PS5 is a bit buggy right now for sure. Just hope none of these errors or crashes brick peoples' systems.

Going to have to lookup if there is a quicker way to put the console in sleep mode. On PS4 my quick menu was arranged were I could hold button, press left once, then press X twice and boom. This I have to long hold the PS button which takes me to EXPLORE whatever, press down, press right a whole bunch of times to get to the end, select power, then select sleep. Maybe I missed something in their showcase but so far this UI is not very intuitive. 

Bugsnax is fun though and it does some interesting stuff with the controller.

...this is a joke, right? I haven't heard anything about voice commands. Actually my biggest letdown about the system so far is the lack of them. So many missed opportunities there. I wouldn't say that the PS5 feels "beta" to me, I haven't had any crashes at all, but it does feel minimalist and overly simple. The hardware could have supported a lot more features than what we've got right now.

My positive opinion on the UI stands though. I love the create button functionality vs. the share. The way every game has its own theme basically. Being able to jump into activities via the menu is really neat. I feel like everything is designed for someone who used their PS4 how I did, allowing quick navigation and to spend as little time in the main UI as possible. The settings landing is arranged very similarly to PS4 which made it intuitive for me. I prefer the minimalist bottom bar to the PS4 full screen interface, even if I have to relearn a few things.

Some negative observations: the Dualsense's thin-lined symbol for the PS logo is unpleasant to tap. At current I think I prefer the Dual Shock 4's layout overall even though the Dualsense's USB-C port, charge capacity, triggers, and rumble are a vast improvement.

Games are a bright spot mostly though. Holy crap, Monster Hunter World looks and runs amazing on the PS5 with "prefer resolution." Makes me feel actually able to get into it now. The PS+ collection is a great value and almost everything seems to run better. But to finish up with a complaint: Bloodborne looks a lot worse than I remember. Even the opening screen feels janky on my 4k HDR display...

Wait, so there IS a way to close games? I thought they removed it completely since they have save states. That actually makes me mad it's not immediately obvious. That and the removal of themes is still ire-some.

Sometimes a complete UI redesign really knocks it out of the park. This is not one of those times.

I hooked up my PS4 external hard drive to my PS5 and initially I was able to claim the digital version of the games in the PS Plus collection for my library in case I ever wanted to download the games to the internal storage.  But now any games that I have installed on the PS4 external that are part of this collection are showing up as "purchased" but the system wants me to "play" them and has them listed as PS4 storage instead of being owned and asks me to insert a disc.  The handful of titles that I claimed before I did this would allow me to download them if I so choose.  Anyone else having a similar issue?

I’m having the same problem with God of War and Days gone. I feel like I’ve tried everything and we might need some Sony update to fix this because I don’t see another way :/

EDIT** Okay I dug around and found a solution. First turn on your PS5 then If you go to the actual desktop version of the Playstation Store and then look up said game, it will say its purchased. Click on icon and then click on the the 'download from your library' button, it will take you to your purchase history there and you can trigger a remote download to your PS5. I actually tried this using the PS Store App and had no success, its different on the regular website.

How to close games on the PS4:

• Hold PS Button.
• Choose first option; "Close Game".

How to close games on the PS5:

• Press PS Button.
• Press down to go to the bottom menu.
• Navigate to the Switcher.
• Highlight the game you wish to close.
• Press Option Button.
• Go down to "Close Game".

Or you can just hold the PS button to go home, push the options button, and then click close game. No need to do all that stuff you listed. It worked exactly like that on PS4 as well because there was 2 different ways to close the game. Not sure if this has been said but I had bought a 12 TB external WD hard drive to use on either the XSX or PS5 and when I tried to set it up today on my PS5 it said it doesn’t support external HDs that are larger than 8 TB. Not a huge deal since I can use it for Xbox but figured I’d mention it here in case anyone with a deep backlog and a lot of digital games is planning to try something similar

That's good to know. I assume the PS4 has the same max disk size limitation? I currently have a 4 TB external on my PS4 and it is full. I was thinking of getting an 8 TB external for the PS4

Yeah, good to know. I don't remember any PS5 early previews mentioning whether they fixed this limitation from the PS4. Gonna have to be on the lookout for an 8TB (instead of the10+ I was planning) in the coming weeks. Of course it will just sit here waiting for Sony to fix the external drive crashing the system bug first.

I also had the issue of the store breaking after redeeming the PS Plus Collection with the drive attached but Ratchet downloaded just fine after I disconnected. Seems the issue of disc installs and digital copies not being one and the same hasn't changed from PS4 to PS5.

I got this offer back in June and again in August. Used it to buy both Paper Mario and then Mario 3D All Stars for around $10 each. It is a great deal for sure. Sadly my email this morning was only for a $15 certificate if I spent $300, so they clearly said that guy he knows how to play the game. Lots of these on the PS5 reddit. They probably came up short on digital ones and just shipped these out instead rather than delay them. Seems like most of them came from people who ordered direct from Sony.
