I’ve played a lot of Miles Morales yesterday and today with Performance RT on and have not had a single crash or issue. I do still completely power down my PS5 to avoid the storage rebuild problem, but I think that’s more of an overall OS issue.

So far I've put over 50 hours into my PS5 and still no issues. Played through:
Astro's Playroom (amazing)
Bugsnax (decent)
Miles Morales (great)
Sackboy (great)

Played about 5 hours of Godfall which is about as boring a game as I've played with really no redeeming features so I got rid of it. Now am a few hours into Immortals Fenyx Rising and so far so good.

How long does it take to boot the game up and how long are load times during fast travel? I'm playing Immortals on a PS4 Pro and it takes a little over a minute to fast travel and about the same amount of time to load up a game save from a cold start. It sits on the checking for content screen for about 25 seconds too.

It's getting pretty annoying and I really wish the developers would have put more time into making load times faster on last gen consoles.

I haven’t timed it but know it’s a hell of a lot faster than those times for me on PS5.

I always have it in rest mode so not sure about the boot up. I don't remember my first start up being very long. The fast travel is super fast probably 5 seconds or so.

Booted up the game from continue and it took 1:22.63 to get into the game. Fast travel being around 1 min for me and like 5 seconds for you shows me that the devs could have and should have made the load times quicker. That's just too big of a difference.

It never crashed on u? I guess it’s fidelity mode that crashes it? Idk I guess I’ll try this performance rt. I’m tired of hard crashes, it gets me worried af

There's zero chance that would ever happen with the difference in install base. Not with this, or any comparable mega-budget title.

I just hope they can bring it closer with a patch. It does look horrific at launch but would be worthwhile if reasonably close to 30 frames locked.

When I played like 4 PS5 games straight you don't really register how fast the loading is but right after that I played through Age of Calamity on Switch and those minute long load screens feel like they go on forever.

It doesn't seem like it speaks especially well of gaming in 2020 that the best RPG is Final Fantasy VII and the best sports games is Tony Hawk 1 & 2.
 
I have to admit to being a little disappointed this year.  Evil Dead: The Game was the only thing I got excited about.  By the end of the show, I was falling asleep.  In fact, I think I may just go take a nap now.

I don't believe that MS or Sony allows publishers to make games specific to the Pro/X models, it would cause too much consumer confusion. They would have had to restrict it to PS5/Series consoles only which obviously they aren't going to do for sales reasons.

That's just silly. A plurality of people playing Cyberpunk will be playing it on either a regular ps4 or xbone. That's just reality. The install base is way too huge to ignore. And good luck finding a ps5 this month anyway.

What CDPR should've done is focus on the last gen versions first and foremost, and worried about prettying up the game with Pro or next-gen enhancements after release. Cyberpunk was announced years before we even knew anything about the ps5. This is a cross-gen game that was always going to predominantly played on last-gen consoles.

The point being that on those base systems, the game is almost unplayable and not a $60 purchase. It is a warning to those owners to wait. Either the game will go lower in price or they will find some miracle patch to fix it.

Hint: ask Bethesda how that worked out for them with Skyrim on PS3.

So from the GA, Swedish Chef was the highlight BUT I'm disappointed that he's exclusive to the new release today, which includes a lot of the stuff I've already purchased from them. Kinda rude fuck you of them to fans who've supported their games in the past.

I -might- try Back4Blood since it is a new IP essentially, although I still hold a grudge (see L4D2 boycott, which did succeed actually) so jury's out on that one. Otherwise looks like a lot of gravedigging going on to see which IP's still stick; the most notable (read: laughable) being Mass Effect. I have no faith that BioWare will even be around to finish that or Dragon Age at this point.

Hades being snubbed, and Ghosts to some degree was a rough go for those fans. I still haven't played TLOU2, but even I wouldn't have voted for it over all the controversy of practically killing a studio to get it out. Neil's acceptance speech was like a laundry list of people who have quit Naughty Dog/Sony lol.

Making it exclusive, is. If it was unlockable in the older games, or even as part of one of the DLCs that would be something. But pure exclusive puts it behind a $50 paywall, especially after getting us both excited to replay the game with him as a character. That is a fuck you to past customers.

 
Anybody ever have issues with a Sony Rewards promo code? I got one for 15% off for completing the Trail Blazers reward. It gives me an error saying it isn’t valid. Contacted support and they need to “escalate” the issue but sent me an email saying to send them photo copies of my store receipt. Clearly they did not understand the difference between a discount code and a PSN gift card voucher.

So much for support...

I've had SO many problems with Sony Rewards lately. I try to do the "Wonderland" pass or whatever, and it has three videos you're supposed to watch. You go to click on the links and IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING.

And that's not to mention the passes and other ways to earn points that they advertise on the website, but then require you to do them on the app. But when you go to the app, the passes/whatever aren't even there.

It's a stupid mess and baffling how their engineers are still so dumb when it comes to this stuff.

 
Yup people who didn’t like TLOU2’s story automatically say the whole game sucks, trash gameplay, trash everything. Ignorant haters or xbots. It’s better than a lot of games out there and they just won’t accept that

I am playing it now. I’m guessing I’m about 2/3 done but don’t actually know for sure. I must be doing it wrong because I’m liking both the story and gameplay.

This brings an expanded trophy set to the PS5, including the much-requested Platinum. The new set takes advantage of the latest enhancements, including progress trophies (which display how close you are to achieving them). Your story mode completion will also be displayed on an Activity Card, and you can use that to jump directly back into the game.

Because these new features aren't available on all legacy platforms, the PS5 version's trophy set and leaderboards will be separate from the PSVITA/PS3/PS4 ones. However, this allows them to tap into the latest and greatest that PlayStation has to offer.

Speaking of Sony Rewards, since I've struck out constantly with getting a PS5, I asked them if it would be possible to offer the consoles in their rewards store. I stated that it would be a nice benefit for Sony and Playstation card holders. Of course I got a general comment that inventory is low for PS5's so they can't offer that but appreciate that they offer PS5 games...

The problem is the polarizing nature of a certain character and their story involvement. Like I said in this thread months ago, people can't discern between a character from a demographic that happens to be part of the story, and a character being spotlighted as having this trait to further promote the ideologies of its creators. A character being shown to face hardships for who they are is different from a character grandstanding with generalized statements about victimization of their entire subculture.

Another problem is the fact that people take awards shows seriously. Everyone is just a person with an opinion. The only self-servicing facet to awards shows is the sense of belonging in knowing that others share your sentiments about liking the media, but the value in that feeling is entirely superficial. There's better ways to connect with others than liking a game you'll forget the story to in a year, at least in my opinion.

 
I enjoyed TLOU2. We should just accept that video games are a source of entertainment and you won't always like what others do. No big deal.

True that and some people have played many, many games throughout their life and aren't as impressed anymore. I'm in this group and it takes a decent bit to really impress me. Cyberpunk 2077 is being hailed as a buggy masterpiece by some, but to me it's a bit average. Some may say TLOU2 has the best gameplay and a story that tugs at your heartstrings and others will say I'm tired of this story and bum rush to the ending. No game or any form of media will be suited for everyone. Course it's good to express opinions especially since others may be listening, but yeah it's just an opinion.

If you removed all the cutscenes and dialogue-heavy walking simulator bits in LoU2 and spliced all those pieces together, you'd get a pretty decent movie actually. It's not a movie I'd ever want to watch, but it's the kind that would gets awards and inspire thinkpieces. The audience for it is certainly there. The story and writing is perfectly coherent, and it hammers home its messages competently (oh boy does it ever hammer those messages). LoU2 is an impressive collection of cutscenes.

The problem is the rest of the game that's left behind after you remove all that story. The actual gameplay is basically the same recycled shooty shooty gameplay that we have seen from Naughty Dog since the original Uncharted. The endless digging around for crafting components and constantly being forced into stealth just makes it more of a slog than it has to be. I was very annoyed by the story in LoU2, absolutely loathed Abby, and rolled my eyes at the sudden and extremely forced addition of a Very Important & Historic Character in the backhalf of the game. But I ultimately stopped playing because the actual gameplay was boring me to death, not because of the story.

I completely understand the praise for the story in LoU2, even if it's not my cup of tea. I hate being preached to by my entertainment, even if I may agree with all its sentiments. But I get it, people like the story, good for them. The gameplay OTOH I do not see the appeal of at all. It's simply boring. It's certainly pretty though, and the few action setpieces that play out like endless runners are exciting. But none of that is next-gen gameplay or remotely unique or innovative. I think if Naughty Dog transitioned into filmmaking and became sort of a Pixar for adults, they'd see a lot of success and their work would be a lot less polarizing.
 
Comments about TLOU2 being trash are pointless trollbait, but I do think that legitimate criticisms of the game don't get enough discussion.

I remain utterly puzzled by how critics drooled so copiously over a narrative that is such a slave to its theme.
