I remember my tenure on the Xbox thread and how much work it was, so you've always had my respect for what you do even if we butted heads sometimes. I was kind of hoping someone would eventually offer to take over for you in the eShop thread because managing two of these threads seemed like far too much work for one single person. In any case, thank you for your hard work over the years and enjoy a well-earned retirement.

 
I think PSPrices is great, but it's better to post the best of the deals here so people can have a conversation about the games on sale.  

 
Going through some PS4 physicals. Deciding what I keep/sell/donate and what to play eventually. Going to do more of these likely have about 40 games to go for those interested. If anyone has any comments let me know.

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend - This one felt like an OK Dynasty Warriors like game. Anime styling was pretty awesome and seemed deep enough for a musou game. Lots of story for the characters, which I thought was kind of poor honestly. It felt like an abridged anime, which I think it is for S1 of this show. It didn't feel like the controls were very good. I got tired of the main prince character and the other characters were OK so far. May watch the anime or read some manga someday. Played about 3 missions for about 2 hours. 6/10 and very likely selling.

Metal Max Xeno - Now this is my type of game. Nothing fancy in the graphics with a pretty poor story and one dimensional characters. For some reason though going around in my tank shooting junk and micro managing the tanks and fighting hard bosses is working for me. The exploration dungeon are OK although not amazing. The music is alright and feels kind of old school. It just feels relaxing in a way and it's fun to explore the desert. There is a lot of parts and a lot of systems. It's not for everyone, but there is good stuff here. Played for about 4 hours. 7.5/10 and going near top of the my backlog. 

Natural Doctrine - Wow I usually don't talk about graphics as much, but wow they are poor quality in this. It doesn't even look good for a PS3 game. The voice acting is pretty bad. The gameplay itself is a turn based strategy game with a somewhat weird comboing system. Honestly it seemed very decent enough, though this can be another easy drop. I do feel it was a bit generic overall with the characters and story and all after 2 missions and about an hour of playtime. 6/10 and keeping for now. Very likely to be donated/sold if not played in a few months.

Omega Quintet - This IF game almost put me to sleep. The battle system was kind of wonky and there are character tropes with somewhat bad voice acting. Graphics are OK enough. Story seems really dumb after doing 1 main mission and saving after a bit over an hour of gameplay. 6/10 and a good chance for dropping/selling.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 - This felt like a way stronger musou type game. The controls were easy though I think the combos were a bit lacking overall. The story is typical shounen stuff for the most part, and I've read at least some of the manga. Seemed quick paced and fun overall, though I think it's lacking a little something to be a really good musou. Still seems maybe worth playing. Played 3 missions over a bit over an hour. 6.5/10 and maybe selling.

School Girl Zombie Hunter - Now this was my type of game. Very campy story, characters and voice acting in a somewhat basic looking and playing action shooter game. It feels like a very low budget game, but it was fun as well. I think it's not a very long game, so I will likely play through it and get to the end. I enjoyed this one for sure, and felt it could provide some fun although it wont be a clean experience. Played 3 missions in an hour. 7/10 and going to higher priority on backlog.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song - One word describes this game which is boring! It didn't control as well either in the action. It feels like an empty MMORPG. The graphics are alright, but the characters are boring and one dimensional. I played for about an hour and a half completing a few quests and getting off the 1st island. I just was not having too much fun, and I was also getting very tired. 5.5/10 and dropped to sell. Also put Sword Art Online - Hollow Realization to sell. If this isn't the right move let me know. Least I got both of them dirt cheap.

Valkyria Revolution - I know this game is infamous for pissing off many fans. Frankly what I played of it over 2 missions was fun enough in gameplay with a massive text dump of story. The protagonist is somewhat of a joke with his one sided thinking for what I played. Most of the characters came off as tropey and a bit boring. The gameplay was action packed, looked graphically very nice, and moved along pretty well. I honestly thought it was fun and had a better time with it than the musou games. The long story sequences will make or break the game though as it goes on. Played for about 2 hours and 2 missions. 7/10 and keeping mid in priority in the backlog. Could drop later.

Thanks for all of the nice things you've been saying. It means a lot. I'll be doing more streaming and video stuff that has been a good stress reliever for me over the past few years, but I'll still be around here.

 
They've already started pressuring Japanese devs to tone down sexual content in games to conform with western standards. With this thrown in as well it just sets a bad standard.
 
Saw naruto ninja storm legacy is on sale and I was a huge fan of number 2 but never played any of the other ones. Any other fans recommend picking this up?

Lost Song is definitely trash but Hollow Realization is worth a play through in my opinion. It is definitely MMO-esque in the gameplay but it feels much better than Lost Song.

But the thing is, why waste the time unless you’re a fan of the anime? There are plenty of better games out there.
 
Started playing Ghost of Tsushima (PS4 Pro) - this might be the most gorgeous game I've ever seen.  Infamous is one of my all-time favorites and it looks like Sucker Punch has knocked it out of the park again.

 
Anyone have any input on Wonderful 101?  Worth grabbing on sale or wait for a deeper discount?  Never played it on the Wii U but i heard the PS4 version was far superior.

I actually heard the opposite. That while it may look better, the way it used the touch screen on Wii U was lost and made it not as fun and easy to control.

  • Once you redeem the game, it will be yours to keep. This 2016 PS4 action-adventure hit from Insomniac Games revisits the origin stories of these beloved PlayStation heroes and features a great mix of outrageous combat and comedy.

  • Our friends at Funimation (a joint venture of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex of Japan) are kicking in a very special offer: extended access for new subscribers to Funimation or Wakanim in the countries they are available **. Funimation is an anime-focused subscription service and Wakanim is Funimation’s European division. But the thing is, why waste the time unless you’re a fan of the anime? There are plenty of better games out there.

I watched the first season and wasn't a huge fan, but had some fun. The first two SAO games are pretty bad IMHO. I may give it a try, but I just have too many games.

PS5 is becoming the port super recent games to 4K machine. Guess that's OK, but those sound like good wait for heavy discount games. Currently have the Nioh games and DMCV on that list. Just shows that the PS5 landscape is likely a barren wasteland until Ratchet & Clank comes out, though that astronaut horror game I forget the name of could be a good one. Reminds me a lot of the PS4 starting out.

It's a really fun and unique action game but it's also very much a Kamiya game so you have to be fine with his mini-game obsession. And W101 is even more extreme then any of his other games, as opposed to them showing up in only a couple of missions nearly every mission in W101 has one and they're all unskippable and boring.

As for the PS4 version compared to the Wii U, it's fine. The touch pad replicates the touch screen so you can still draw to change weapons, though once you get the hang of it it's faster to just use the analog stick to draw since it doesn't require you moving your hand away from the face buttons (this was true for the Wii U as well.)

The real main difference is there are a few areas where you will go inside a building and it would be shown on the touch screen on the Wii U. They're usually puzzle areas where you'd look at the outside to figure out what you need to do and then execute that action with the inside view. The remastered version just gives you a picture in picture view which you can move around wherever you want. Not as elegant but these sections generally have no combat so it's not really that big of a deal, and there aren't many of them anyway.

Yeah, a lot of people forget the PS4 was a barren wasteland for good exclusive games early on. I forget which year but their E3 showing was really bad (maybe 2016?). It wasn't until later on that they became an exclusive game powerhouse. Back then you had Bloodborne (worth it), Uncharted 4 then a bunch of games that really didn't excite. Street Fighter 5 was crap when it came out, as was No Man's Sky and Last Guardian was really not all that.

 
Weird the original link to sales items had Resogun. Not in the sale now. I used to have that game shared with my son’s old account. Now I just have the DLC and wanted to buy the game on my own account. Seems like it hasn’t gone on sale since I got my PS5 in November.

Edit: PS Prices shows it hasn’t been on sale since 2018! What’s up with that?

If you don't like the first season of SAO, you probably won't enjoy the games. I enjoyed the first game, Hollow Fragment, a lot. It felt just like a continuation of the first season.

I haven't tried the other SAO games. I know to avoid the most recent one, Alicization. Even as a fan of the anime, that game doesn't look fun.
