I might bite on Dragon's Lair and Space Ace for $5 each. Not much else this week for me, I can't wait for the welcome back free games...
The store is updating again tomorrow according to IGN. I'm hoping for outland then, and hopefully the welcome back program. I'd love to get 5 new games haha.
BTW the store seems to be going a tad slow
i do not remember it like this
PSN was always a bit slow. Granted it's going to be much worse than normal for the next few days with everyone trying to get into the store at the same time.

I've noticed that there's even some items missing from the store, for instance some games have their unlock keys up for sale while the game itself is missing.

So besides the meh games the store is being slow even for PSN and hella buggy. I was hoping Sony would have used this down time to update PSN and at least get it on par with Xbox live...but so far it aint looking that way. Ill give them a day or two to fix this shit, but seriously as per usual it seems Sony is just half assing things.

works fine for me.

Lets see how well live holds up with 3 million people accessing it at the exact same time downloading a ton of stuff.

Exactly. Give it some time for gods sake.

People need to realize that PSN is a free service, unlike Xbox Live. So PSN servers won't be as good as Xbox Live servers. Like people have said, give it time, I'm pretty sure they are going to upgrade their servers, and/or get more.

PSN has sucked long before having a ton of people trying to accese it. Besides I highly doubt everyone tried to get online all at once. Regardless as I said its been common knowledge for years that PSN has shit connection speeds/downloads.

*points to Steam*

Also a free service but it has 10x better U.I, options available to the user and connection speeds. People need to stop making excuses for Sony......

Look I am not saying that Sony needs to even be as good as Steam or XBL....but they need to step up and do far more then they are.

Edit - BTW while Xbox Live is a paid service downloading games and many other services are not charged for.

Sony looks to have dramatically improved the situation with the numerous errors on the PSN store within only a matter of hours. :)
Is Bonk worth $6? Always wanted to play it and couldn't as no one I knew had a Turbografx 16.
I'd say Bonk is worth about $5 tops to me, but maybe that's because I have already played through it multiple times back when it was released. The game has a certain charm to it but always felt like it was a distant third in the race between Mario and Sonic. It certainly does require a lot of button mashing in order to prolong Bonk's airtime during jumps. If you're just looking for some solid 2D platforming, the game certainly fits the bill.

I've never had a problem with PSN connection speed. Strange....
I've never had a problem with PSN connection speed. Strange....
I wouldn't say anything if it was just me, but I have seen ungodly numbers of people mention it and I listen to a dozen or so podcasts and most of them joke about the PSN download speed. I mean its not just download games either but also patching games, that alone I hear several complaints a month about.

PSN has definitely had issues with their download speed in the past. I also recall a lot of people taking issue with the speed. There were some games which would take up to almost an hour to download and patches that would get 1MB every few minutes. I suppose you could just say "your connection probably sucks" but Live and Steam have always moved much quicker. Granted that was a couple of years ago.

Right now PSN seems to be running very quickly as I redownload all my content to my replacement system, I don't think I've ever had it transfer data faster.
I'm hoping this is a mistake. It's still 50% off on the European PSN, and European PSN also still has the Might & Magic : Clash of Heroes PSN+ discount, which has disappeared in the US store. Then again, European PSN+ usually gets much better stuff than US PSN, so who knows.
This goes for me as well. About the only thing I cared about the PSN+ membership for. Only reason I haven't gotten it on XBLA already. I mostly game on my Xbox already... Well, I may get a few Square PS1 Classics when I get a chance...

I get about 2mb/s on PSN, XBL and Steam; it's all location based.

You hear people on podcasts bitching at PSN speeds (they probably don't download that much from it to begin with) because they're all located in CA, in SF most likely. Server load over there is probably way worse. Doesn't excuse Sony from the issue but it's not across-the-board shitty speeds.

Just like AT&T isn't terrible anywhere you go within the US... but it definitely sucks in Cali so you hear people whine about it all the time.

I guess it's justified, but it doesn't really mean Sony gives a crap either lol.
I had ~$30 in my wallet on PSN before it went down, I assume when I log in tonight it'll still be there?
Yes
Side note: Did anyone download any of the free games yet? L.A. Noire DLC? Were their any issues?
It's been posted at least 5 times in the last 2 pages. The welcome back kit is not active yet.

Does fat princess still have a live community? good amount of players? got a good amount of amazon credit and thinking about biting on fat princess since its under $10.

Also, is puzzle quest worth 9.99? should i hold out for a cheaper price?

The store speed just quadrupled for me. It was sluggish/unresponsive this morning. I just downloaded the Infamous 2 demo in about 3 minutes.

Make sure to read the fine print on that credit to make sure that you can spend it on PSN codes. Usually that's not allowed for credit.

I know for sure game credit doesn't work for PSN codes. Complete garbage considering I used my FFXIII $10 credit last year to buy a physical $10 PSN card. I can't see why they won't let us do the same for digital PSN cards.

I live in Ohio as does one of the podcasts I hear gripe about this all the time. The gamerswithjobs guys complain a lot about this as well and they are spread out all over the place from Seattle to Canada. I really do not think location has much to do with it.

Can't exactly be sure unless the location of their servers are known. Like I said, I'm in MA and no one I know has ever had issues with speeds here.

Your not the only one that feels PSN is a piece of crap. It has always been weak, slow downloads, the whole works. I usually buy more stuff and usually d/l demos on X-Live first than PSN. Only thing I d/l off PSN are only the exclusive stuff for that console. I have Road Runner here in NYC and my Internet speed is fast and PSN is still slow and mind you, you have to install after the download is done .... LULZ. X-Live is always going to be superior. This is how I see it, MS has the best Internet gaming service, PS3 has blu ray, and Wii has motion controls. Sure the other two have their motion controls but obviously Wii takes that crown. Not dissing PS3/PSN, just stating facts. Always has crappy deals, crappy connection, and etc.

Your ISP also has a lot to do with it. A friend and I started downloading the inFamous 2 demo at the same time. The only difference between us is I'm on FiOS while he's on TWC. I got it in 30 minutes while it took him 90 minutes.
Can't exactly be sure unless the location of their servers are known. Like I said, I'm in MA and no one I know has ever had issues with speeds here.
/shrug like I said whenever there are so many podcasters, people on forums etc etc raising the issue its hardly a regional thing. Maybe your connection is just hella limited and your getting the same speed regardless as a result.
Your ISP also has a lot to do with it. A friend and I started downloading the inFamous 2 demo at the same time. The only difference between us is I'm on FiOS while he's on TWC. I got it in 30 minutes while it took him 90 minutes.
And here's where having crappy 1.5 M ATT DSL (fastest speed available & my apartment has an exclusive contract) hurts.

Queued up a bunch of stuff at 4 in the morning when I found out store was going. First was Dead Space 2 maps, then Motorstorm demo, then Infamous 2 demo, then Wizardry demo, Fancy Pants demo, ep. 1 if Sam & Max, then some trailers, and finally the 2 LA Noire cases I had codes for.

5 1/2 hours later, only the DS and Motorstorm downloads were done. Infamous 2 was at 33%.

I download stuff on both systems and PS3 is ALWAYS 2-3 times slower. Only exception in 2 years was the first Black Ops map pack (day 1) on 360 as that was PSN slow.

No other data usage is going on either.

Well, I've moved around the Boston area quite a bit using RCN, Comcast and Verizon FiOS. Currently my max down (RCN cheap ass internet) is the 2mb/s I'm getting, but back when I had FiOS I was getting the max 5-6mb/s there also.

I'm much more keen to blame Sony for having retarded engineers who can't distribute bandwidth load correctly across their servers than to say straight up PSN is slow as fuck across the country. And yes, god knows what your ISP is doing; most people don't have much choice and are stuck with Company X

I'd also be more pissed if this affected me but I guess I'm lucky.
My download speeds on XBL and PSN are on par with each other.
I find it funny how someone says XBL will always be better. Is it cause they pay for it?

so money i get for trading in stuff to amazon doesn't allow me to be buy this kind of stuff on amazon? thats bullshit

last time i ever trade in games to them.

I have top tier fios and it took me almost 2 hours to get the demo.

checked my speeds, got 48.7mbps so clearly it's not my isp, did further testing by dling a demo on XBL and a few things on PC got both extremely quick.

Promotional credit has a lot of restrictions, but I haven't traded anything in so I don't know what they may limit there. That's why I suggested reading the fine print to see what restrictions there may be.

Same here, I've spent almost 400 dollars in amazon trade in credit on PSN/XBL points. I've also bought a couple PC games here and there.
For someone who was a fan back in the day, is Digger Remastered worth the $5?
I hadn't known about the original on PC before playing it and enjoyed it a lot. There's a ton of levels, a few modes, and even the original is included. You can try the demo if you want to see it for yourself.

that sucks for you ppl that have slow psn. mine is super fast. maybe check your internet connection. lol

I think there is still a good community. My little brother is 7 and I showed him FP not too long ago and he couldnt stop playing it. He started playing it online too and they found games with other people. Very fun game. Ill go out on a limb here and say its probably my favorite downloadable game on either system. I havent checked in the last week tho how active it is.

Its been that price at Amazon and cheaper at Best Buy for awhile now, so if you waited it wouldnt be too big of a deal.

Mine is 25mbps and I got the demo in about 30 minutes so it likely is your isp and it's range from the data center. Not all packets are created equal, it has a lot to do with how your isp prioritizes/routes the packets and your actual distance from the data center sending you the data. If it was psn then everyone would have a problem, so it is definitely your isp or where you are located.

PSN is slow - it's ok - accept it.
PSN is slow - it's ok - accept it.
I really cant understand why people cant accept it. I mean numerous people have posted here complaining about it and again its been just a known fact in the industry for some time. Its like arguing that the 360 for the first few years didnt have a high malfunction rate just because yours never broke down....

I also find it amazing that people keep saying its the ISP, regional and all this other bunk when again I dont have this problem with Steam, XBL nor the IOS store. Obviously others like the rebel fm, TVGP and gamerswithjobs crew also obviously are experiencing the same thing.
