Which are still crappy and all, they aren't dedicated. So what's their true intention? Hmm..great month to be a PSN+ member and House Of The Dead 3 is worth the $5

Top Selling games for January 2011 on PSN. Sorry, not a deal, but I find it interesting.

1) NFL Blitz
2) NBA JAM: On Fire Edition
3) Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
4) inFAMOUS 2 Festival of Blood
5) Sonic CD
6) PAYDAY: The Heist
7) Dungeon Defenders
8) Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD
9) AMY
10) Crysis
11) Resident Evil 4
12) Shadow of the Colossus
13) Castle Crashers
14) Trine 2
15) REAL STEEL
16) Darksiders
17) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
18) Battlefield 1943
19) Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition
20) Saints Row 2

Awesome to see Strangers Wrath at #7 and Darksiders at #16. Two awesome games!

Also nice to see lots of games that were on sale last month on the list. Shows that sales work. :)
You will probably be paying for online access on a per game basis instead of a subscription in the future. Seeing how online passes are required for most games now to play online. I still don't get why online passes are required for online play on xbox live...
A better question would be why does xbox charge you when individual games charge you for an online pass?
So any opinions of House of the Dead 3? Does it have multiple move controller support? Any idea how long that sale is going to last?
great game if you enjoy light gun games and house of the dead series

i was thinking about buying this but house of the dead: overkill extended cut for the move has this awful constant crosshair wander that really screws up my aim. ill have to check the demo and see if this one is any better.

fatal intertia installed just fine for me, first try.

There's only a handful of games I've really played online, with those being Uncharted 2('story mode vs CPU with 2-3 friends'), GTA IV/Episodes(Free Mode, some of the TDM/DM/Bomb Da Base/etc modes), Red Dead Redemption(mainly free mode) and both Saint's Row 2 and 3. I also played a little bit of the training mode mp in Black Ops with friends, but I never touched the main mp.

Otherwise I usually hate getting into very well established games for anything competitive since the online communities for those are usually very good at annihilating noobs like me and if I'm getting my ass handed to me every half nanosecond then I'll usually just go back to games where I know I have an edge myself(GTA).

So the bulk of upcoming games with online passes won't really concern me since most of them are usually for multiplayer, except in the case of Arkham City where the devs locked out single player content unless you bought new(or used from GS).

There's a LOT of digital versions of games you could likely buy cheaper USED in a physical format on that list(with the exception of the original Crysis, which was only on 360 and PC I believe). Are people really THAT willing to shell out MSRP for versions of games they can't even resell?

I don't know where you're seeing this LOT of digital versions. There's only 4 games out of 20 that are even in physical format, those being Shadow of the Colossus, Darksiders, COD 4, and Saint's Row 2. All of those games pretty much matched their MSRP at the time of their sale, aside from maybe Call of Duty 4. Crysis was never on 360 as a physical game, only PC.

I don't agree with spending MSRP on digital versions since you can't loan, resell, trade, or do anything else with them once you're done, but if I recall correctly, Darksiders and maybe Saint's Row 2 both had pretty good sale prices.

I'm willing to bet that the only reason that SR2 is on the list is because you got a copy of the digital download of it for free when you registered SR3 for PS3. It probably counts those downloads as sales, even though no money was exchanged for SR2.

I wonder if Saints Row 2 "purchases" includes people redeeming the Saints Row the 3rd online pass and getting their free copy of Saints Row 2.

I was also counting games previously available in physical format(Sonic CD, RE4, Oddworld: Strangers Wrath) in my previous post. Basically ANY game that was available before on a console in a physical format. I wasn't 100% sure on the original Crysis, so thank you for the clarification on that.

Thing is, if you have a PS3 and not those other consoles that they were originally on, PSN is your main option for them.

Ah, I see. Well still, you have to factor in added incentives such as HD and trophies. Those certainly make me want to go back and play an older game and I'm sure that's the case with quite a few gamers. I'd much rather pay $5 to play Sonic CD with some trophies than to try to track down a copy of it somewhere, not to mention I don't even have a Mega Drive anymore.
Hey Tanuki, I just got Vita and I started to take interest on PSP games on PSN Store.
Do you know how often PSP games go in price drop or on sale?
It happens occasionally when publishers remember that they exist. Companies like Atlus, Xseed, and NIS America put their stuff on sale the most often out of anybody. The Vita's launch weeks will probably be pretty busy as they angle for some more money out of new Vita owners that want legacy games like Namco/D3 did this week.

Gonna pass on Journey for now, but hoping for some good sales during the Spring Fever as well. Last year was...........okay.

Thanks! That's great to hear.
I really hope Persona 3 Portable goes on sale soon!

Neither an HD upgrade or trophies really matter to me, just the convenience of being able to get them on a console I already own.:booty:;)

Dont sleep on the Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Battle Cars. It is a great game. Play through the single player first to get a hang of the controls and then take it online. Beware some of the dudes that still play this game are really good.

I couldn't get into the online, but really enjoying the single player so far. Very addictive.

Just a quick question...I'm considering PS+, I was wondering, can I purchase games that are "free"?...I honestly don't want any of the "free" games as they are only a rental.
Just a quick question...I'm considering PS+, I was wondering, can I purchase games that are "free"?...I honestly don't want any of the "free" games as they are only a rental.
Nope. That's one of the downfalls of PS+. If there's a game you want to buy that's currently free for PS+ members you either have to wait for it to no longer be free, wait for your PS+ membership to expire, or open a second PSN Account. The other problem is that if you download it for free with PS+ and you then want to buy it when it's no longer free you can't because you technically already "own" it. It's pretty lame.

Lmao. That's like a trick question. Either you buy the free games before you join or you join and 'rent' them. But, if a free game is that good that you want to keep it, you'll probably be able to find it for cheap, elsewhere, later.

why on earth would you try to buy something that you got for free?

if you really need to buy it that bad just so it continues to take up space on your hard drive, wait for your subscription to expire then buy it

hope this helps

That $10 isn't the one you have to get for them to send you the code via email. I believe the only is the $20 and $50 ones that also have the title (Downloadable Content) in the end of them.

Two recent free games were FF5 and Simpsons Arcade, two games that are both 20+ years old. If people are still buying them now 20 years after they originally played them, do you not find it conceivable that somebody might want to play a game like that 2 or 3 years from now as well?

Good idea! Thanks!:) Been trying to figure out what to do with this $5 BB GC. Got a card for $5! WOOP!

I called, just now, and the woman sounded a tad bit clueless. Like she was saying what I told her to say/wanted to hear.

I mentioned the review/s and that there's no option for the code to be emailed. She said they get the code from Sony, then send it to me. But....at first, she was giving me the shipping/store pick up option.

Well, I added a gift email and gift receipt to my order. Maybe I'll get it that way. If not, I have to go near Best Buy anyway.

like i said, buy the game when your subscription expires if you really feel the need to replay it after having it for free for a year

not sure why anybody feels they are getting screwed just because they can't buy it while they have it for free

Yay! You finally started including the "free" PS+ games. Now this thread is my one stop shop for PSN info.

It has been a sick month for us PS+ users. Maybe the best updates ever.

Why not have the option to buy during you get it for a free trial....Either way, they get money for it...The point is I don't want it to expire on me....What if I don't like PS+? What if I decide it's not worth my money?

Didn't you say, you don't want to buy any of the "free" games anyways? How can you not know if you like PS+? You can see what PS+ offers each month on the PSN Store, to get the general idea of what PS+ offers. If the games and bonuses offered for free is something your interested in then get it. What do you expect from Sony by paying them $4 a month, a free $10 game for life each month? I know this is cheapassgamer but $4 a month for a rental service with discounts, cloud save, themes, avatars, betas, and sometimes bonus surprises ain't bad, no other service offers this for $4 a month.

I never said it was not worth the money...I don't know if it's worth the money or not since I haven't tried it...That's why I want to try it...I just asked a simple question. I just like owning games...I guess I'll just buy before hand and enjoy the other perks of PS+.

I was like this before I joined live. There's nothing wrong with knowing what you can and can not do before joining a service.

BTW, I said I want to buy free games not the other way around.

I have highlighted the parts in red where you contradict yourself and confused me.

Okay...I see how you can get confused....I will rephrase the question.

If I sign up for PS+ and decide I want to keep the "free" games (if I don't re-new the service) can I purchase the games that are labeled "free" during my PS+ trial so I keep them permanently instead of the games expiring?

Anyway, I will decided to look for deals on those games if my PS+ expires.

I asked this because I have no idea if I will find value in the service or not (if you find value in it, more power to you)...I never tried this service so I don't know what it's like yet and don't know if I will like it or not.

I hope rephrasing everything cleared up the confusion.
