Can any confirm a flash sale for this weekend? I already said the flash sale for the month was the VGA sale, plus there's no way Sony throws a flash sale ontop of the deals we got the past 2 weeks. Did i miss something?
I’m pretty sure they will have one. They have in the past in addition to the holiday sale.

Then again, we all thought there would be one for Thanksgiving/BF so who knows?

Blue Rider is one I found that I've never heard of before, described as a twin stick / shmup. Has mixed reviews, but is a genre I like and cheap, so I'll pick it up. But since you also like the twin stick shooters, I was wondering if you have heard of this one and have any thoughts about it.
It's... okay? I only played the first stage, though, it has the potential to ramp up and get better. It plays exactly how it looks on youtube. There are secrets, etc. I'd say on the early levels, at least, you feel like the maps are a bit too big for the number of enemies, but that's easily something that could improve later. Bosses were cool. I don't really have any real negatives about it, but it didn't wow me either.

Some questions:

1) Am I blind or is FF X/X-2 for vita not on sale?   Is the ps4 version cross buy with vita?

2) another 'feeling blind' question - which metro contains both metros, or is that not on sale this time around?

and finally, I'm on the fence about the following games due to their price point... anyone want to tip the scale on them?

[I've already got like 10 other games I'm definitely grabbing, so these are on top of those]

Carmageddon: Max Damage 9.99

Vermintide: The Arrogance Lost Collection $7.99
Mages of Mystralia 11.99
Overcooked 5.77
METAL GEAR SOLID HD COLLECTION 9.99
Red Faction 2  $2.99   (does this play like Guerilla?)

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice 20.99
Unravel 3.99
MURDERED: SOUL SUSPECT 3.99
Hob 11.99
Little Nightmares 9.99

Sadly, I don't have a 20% coupon so it's painful getting these more expensive ones knowing i should have a coupon, lol.

I might wait to see if there's a flash sale before I jump on anything. I'm interested in FF XV Premium, FF X HD remaster, and Dragon Age GOTY edition. I'm tempted to get Ys Orgins but I feel that might be cheaper. I want to revisit FF XV and DAI. I didn't finish Dragon Age and I want to play FF XV DLC.

Not sure whether I should get in on any of these:

Mirrors edge catalyst
Thief
Evil within
Metro
Inside
Murdered Soul suspect

They just all seem like candidates for ps plus which scares me
I think Murdered Soul suspect, Thief and Metro were free but they were the PS3 versions.

1) You seem to be correct about the Vita version not being on sale, and I don't see any cross-buy.

2) "Metro Redux" (without the 2033) includes both titles, it's on sale for $9.

At these prices with 20% off on top, I think it's time for me to bite on Mass Effect Andromeda.  Am I right in thinking that there's nothing really worthwhile in the deluxe version?  It looks like extra multiplayer junk that you could unlock anyway.

Nothing really and I really enjoyed the game. I found it worth it at $40 when I bought it.

Man, I've been waiting for FFX to go on sale vita. And... blah.

Ok... I believe you, but where the hell in the description for that does it say it contains two games, let alone which two games?

Ahh must have been the time where my PS3 got the YLOD right before ps4 release.

Think it's safe they won't be released for PS4? And which ones are worth it to you?
I haven't played any, just remember they were free at one point. I watched my cousin play Metro and he enjoyed it. I watched some videos of both Murdered Soul Suspect and Thief. They didn't look interesting to me.

The two Metro games are Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. I don’t know why it isn’t specifically naming the titles in the description, but this package has been discounted a lot in the past and has a retail version, so most people are familiar with what’s in it.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is actually kind of a fun game but be warned you will go insane trying to platinum it without a guide if that's your motivation. Otherwise it's just a fun supernatural murder mystery from a somewhat interesting perspective.

Thank you to the person who recommended me those pinball tables... i plan on getting sci-fi, core and Heroes Within.

FF10 was on sale on just the vita a couple months ago, and I was asking myself the same question (why isn't the opposite version on sale). It's really bizarre that this isn't a crossbuy game, but i also don't think sony wants to give out 4 games for the price of 1 (ff10 comes with 10-2 on both consoles).
Regardless it's lame that these games aren't cross buy.

There will never be confirmation for flash sales, it is all conjecture based on past behavior.

Man I just want the Nioh Season Pass on sale :/
Same here. I missed the sale somehow when it was $16.xx a while back.

Tempted to get Star Ocean 3 but I know I'll never get the Platinum since you have to spend 30-40 hours bunny racing if you don't have a turbo controller. Normally the trophies wouldn't deter me from getting a game I wanted otherwise but I still do have the PS2 version lying around somewhere.

Have 4 games in my cart and 20% code to use towards them. Holding out for a possible flash sale and waiting for my $50 PSN code from Sony Rewards right now so...

In cart:

Rocket League GOTY

Just Cause 3 XL

Need for Speed Deluxe Edition

Tomb Raider Definite Edition

Now that I used my 20% coupon on the ff15, tales of berseria dlc and a few other dlc odds and ends watch there be a really good flash sale.

I own Rainbow Moon for PS3 but still haven't played it yet. Is it worth buying on PS4 while on sale?

Also, has Dancing All Night ever gone below $16? Not sure if i should buy now or wait a year and see if it hits $10.

First post in here. I got a PS4 recently and have been hammering Bloodborne with friends. I'm a PC gamer so only looking to use my console for exclusives.

Can you guys recommend any co-op PS4 exclusives? and are there any?

Dragon’s crown pro when it comes out in March/April. It’s a 2D beat’em up and It will have online and couch co-op. I’ll let you search for a trailer so you can understand why my wife has named it the “Booby brawler”.

Just realized Hellblade is digital-only. Wow, way to break conventions - that looks like a physically-based game if I've ever seen one. I was hoping for more than a mere 20% off :whistle2:/

Which is also why Dragon's Crown was successfully voted the only game that deserves the 4k treatment over Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Cool. I was aware of the original and was looking for it on ps3. Knowing this, I can wait for it on PS4 instead. Thank you.

Coop games are pretty rare, and then you want exclusive on top of that?

I don't know if all of these are definitely exclusives, or on PC too... you also didn't specify if it needs to be couch or not, so I'm going to assume that isn't necessary.

---------

Alienation - fantastic twin stick shooter. Great alone, tremendous with others.

Helldivers - really good at establishing the need to cooperate. I like Alienation better, since they're similar, but this is great too.

Resogun - only played this solo, but it has a local coop mode [I can't play score based games coop, other people messing up my run would do my head in]

Nex Machina has coop too, I believe

Bloodborne, obviously. With the way they do coop, it's pretty easy to meet up with specific people

--------

I'm sure there are others in the PSN library, but I don't actually seek out coop games so I'm not an expert.

if you've got a ps3, Pixeljunk Monsters is perfect coop with a non-gamer.

Has anyone played Hellblade? I should probably just get it at that price... I -loved- Heavenly Sword [the game was 'okay', but the voice acting and characters were amazing] and really liked Enslaved [except for they decided to put 10k orbs in to collect].

But at the same time, it's also the most expensive game in my cart, and I technically could wait a year before buying it...

I want to get Hellblade just to support a game with a unique story, subject matter and excellent acting. It’s $20 or $16 with the 20% off coupon so I’m finding it hard to resist honestly.

Some of the profits also go to charity. Amazing game that was worth the full price IMO.

Don’t be that cheap. Just buy it.

Bloodborne reminds of Symphony of the Night. In the way that after I played it and completed it, nothing after was able to hold a torch to it.

Yeah, after struggling to find anything, I thought my question was probably a big ask!

Online is preferred but I do love local co-op.

ALIENATION, Resogun - look to be exclusive, i will check it out a bit more :)

The rest are on PC.

Thanks!

Red Faction 2:

its a first person shooter like the first Red Faction. It doesn't play like Guerrilla, except for the destructible environment (mostly just walls here though). The first Red Faction was a great FPS (for its time of course) that I really enjoyed. The 2nd changed engines and looked and felt (mechanically and game-play wise) different than the first. The destructibility of the environment was greatly reduced and the story wasn't as good. That said, it grew on me and I played thru to the end. It does have offline multiplayer, which I found surprisingly fun for a short time (kinda reminded me of TimeSplitters). I am picking it up, but having some nostalgia for it helps.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection:

I'm an MGS fan (so I may be biased a bit) and have the collection (but of course haven't played thru it yet). Snake Eater (MGS 3) is one of my all time favorite games. The fight with 'The End' is one of the most memorable and epic boss battles ever (not to mention the final battle against 'The Boss', another great one). Tremendous game from beginning to end. I really liked MGS 2 and didn't mind the bait-&-switch that upset a lot of people. Also includes Peace Walker (another great one), and probably a better way (control wise) to play the PSP game. Well worth the $10 for 3 great games.

I loved all of Ninja Theory's previous games and found Hellblade to be incredibly boring and disappointing. The combat is shallow and I wasn't following/interested in the "story" at all. All of the dialog is delivered in hurried whispers that I could barely make out even with subtitles on. The voices-in-your-head got annoying after a few minutes. I struggled to finish it even though it's short. Even if you liked it I don't think there's any incentive to replay. I can appreciate them trying something new, but wouldn't recommend for the sale price.

To each their own, I loved it and it won numerous awards. Thought the sound design in particular was outstanding. Have no regrets paying full price for it.

The 5-Star average with over 4,000 reviews on PSN also begs to differ.

Well the dev diaries and interviews for the game before release literally had lead dev dude whose name I can't remember saying that they weren't trying to make the game fun, they were trying to make it a disorienting miserable experience. He pretty much never even talked about the combat which was a red flag to me considering that is generally the focus in other NT games.

I think it looks kinda interesting but not being gameplay focused and given that it's only like 7 hours long apparently means I'll just wait until it's super cheap. I get the appeal of it but that's not personally what I am looking for in a game.

^^ I disagree about it not being gameplay focused. Combat was enjoyable to me as were the puzzle like sections to open new areas.

But that’s just my opinion.

Honestly I just think it's a bad question to ask.

Going into games with a specific list of demands is just going to leave you disappointed. "I want features x, y, z" is more of the mindset you would have when shopping for a practical car than a really good game.

No developer is making games at the level of Bloodborne by trying to cater to a set of consumer demands. They're all passion projects where developers are doing what they personally believe in. More and more games are taking influence from the Souls series and its approach to the online component, but unless the developer is genuinely inspired by Miyazaki, good games don't come from ticking boxes.

For example HZD could have had a great online component, but Guerilla was inspired more by CD Projekt than by From. They made a fantastic PS4 exclusive game but it checks Witcher boxes rather than Souls boxes. From is apparently coming out with a new PS4 exclusive soon, and you'll enjoy that. In the meantime, the big PS4 exclusives this year were HZD and Nier. Gravity Rush 2's online component is a bit under developed, but you can tell the Souls influence is almost there, hopefully it will be better developed in a followup.

Sony doesn't view themselves as competing with PC so there's not a lot that's PS4 exclusive except for the first party stuff, Japan Studios and whatnot. If you are most interested in games from studios like From that already make PC games, there's not a lot there. Nioh for example is PS4 exclusive on consoles but is also on PC. If you're coming first time to console, you'll enjoy yourself most if you take interest in the first-party stuff Sony has to offer from their own developers like Japan Studio.

If you can be a little more open minded I think you'll enjoy your PS4 a lot more. For example, I would recommend Journey for one of the best co-op experiences in gaming anywhere. But it's non-traditional so if you just want your boxes checked you won't appreciate it.

tl;dr PS4 has great first-party stuff but you're not going to appreciate it if you come in with a PC gaming mindset looking for experiences that are already available better on the PC. Bloodborne for example is just an accident that it's PS4 exclusive, the experience is a Souls one that's already on PC. PS4 shines with its first party exclusives that have their own thing going.

You're one of the only people I've seen say the combat is actually enjoyable to be honest, usually the attitude is that it's fine for what it is but as its own thing it's not worth buying the game for.

But really that's beside the point to me. The gameplay stuff I am talking about is coming right from the lead dev dude who I just find really off putting. I don't really care for his argument about how a video game doesn't have to be fun, the entire thing hinges on him comparing games to movies which I've never been a fan of because I go to games and movies for entirely different reasons. His focus was not on making a game that was fun as much as it was one that takes you on an experiential journey. Which again yeah that's fine but for me that means I'll wait until it's dirt cheap.

I am very open minded and diverse when it comes to games so please do not mistake me for some simple fool :p I think you had me all wrong there and Journey is already on the wishlist :D I'm sure you didn't mean to sound like a big meanie but that was how I read it the first time.

I never had high hopes for such a question. I guess I should have stated that there are a fair few single player exclusives that I want to play but I am already aware of them (most looking forward to Detroit: Become Human). I don't only play co-op games, but I was asking for help finding them so that I could play with my friends who only have a PS4 (as opposed to buying games on multiple platforms). It would also be nice to make use of my PS Plus subscription.

Also, all the Souls games have their own differences but Bloodborne differs the most which certainly made it a new and exciting experience for me.

Lovers in a Dangerous Timespace SpaceTime (PS+'d) is a fantastic Co-Op game. I'd rank it top 4 local Co-Op games on the PS4.

I should have been more careful with my comment, I knew it might have been taken as combative, but I was more just philosophizing about the question of what the PS4 has to offer to a PC gamer. I'm also someone who would pretty much always prefer to buy a game on PC if it's available, hence my a-bit-too-extensive thoughts on the topic.

Pretty sure that's on Steam as well (actually on pretty much every platform, even iOS and Android).

I suppose one other benefit of a Playstation is you do get one extra source of free games every month, so even if you wouldn't buy a game specifically for console, if it goes on PS Plus it's no extra investment.

Huh? I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone to be looking for, say, a coop game. You're acting like he listed 10 different specific criteria. It's okay to ask for a genre recommendation.

tl;dr PS4 has great first-party stuff but you're not going to appreciate it if you come in with a PC gaming mindset looking for experiences that are already available better on the PC. Bloodborne for example is just an accident that it's PS4 exclusive, the experience is a Souls one that's already on PC. PS4 shines with its first party exclusives that have their own thing going.

Not getting this either.

It's not 'just an accident' that Bloodborne is on PS4. From Software working on consoles has a lot of history. Demon's Souls being so successful is a direct result of console culture when it came out - it 'spoke' to many people at a time when consoles were giving us 'impossible to lose' games [famously, Prince of Persia]. Sony losing Demon's Souls due to some mistakes, and it becoming Dark Souls, -directly- led to them having From build them a Soulslike exclusive.

I mean, you're saying it's 'just an accident', but that's about as far from the truth as possible. It's the direct result of pressures of both console-specific gaming culture and business concerns.

Like, I can't think of another game with such a specific reason for existing exactly as it does on PS4. And genrewise, the entire genre wouldn't exist if not for the state of console gaming at the time of release of DeS, so acting like it's not 'console' simply because it's on PC too also seems wrong headed.

Although many games that go on PS Plus are eventually available free on PC somewhere or other (GOG promotions, Humble, etc).
I don't see how platform is relevant when you are looking for great couch Co-Op games. Well, unless your PC is hooked to your TV. Can't imagine playing local Co-Op while huddled around a monitor designed for single person viewing.

Plus, all the food and liquor is in/near the living room.
