This is why I can't believe critics or even peer pressure popular opinion sometimes (GOTY or not). We all have our individual gaming preferences. I like a straightforward gaming experience, complete with an ending and credits to make me feel like I can move on to the next game. This is why I avoid RPGs (40+ hours) for the most part, there isn't enough time to put in all the effort required, and my backlog (and lifespan) isn't getting any shorter.

Right now I'm playing Don't Starve, and I hate it. It's way too grindy and permadeath is a bitch. After putting in so much effort and losing all my progress, why do I even bother trying. I play games for fun, not work.

Honestly this just sounds like a game that’s not for you. It is a long game and can be Grindy trying to get the parts you need for upgrades. It’s not very JRPG but there is a lot to the game that can take a lot of time.

You can run through the story and “beat” the story in about 60 hours but that’s not the point of the game really.

It just isn’t your cup of tea and there’s nothing wrong with that.

But as others have said, hunts shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes max. I did a quest last night to hunt a monster with a shortened timer of 15 minutes. Did it just fine. Twice.

I am excited for those library changes, my library has gotten so cluttered with demos/betas I will never play again. Heck a lot of them are those limited time betas that can't even be played anymore anyway. Will be nice to get rid of them.

Yeah I wanted to link this video last night but it apparently failed to upload properly. It's against Nergigante who is one of the later game fights (the first elder dragon you get to fight properly.) You will notice how it is not a 40 minute fight and he does not run away 7 times. That's how a monster goes once you learn their movements and the best times to attack (this was my 5th or 6th time fighting him, his weapons are really good endgame starter weapons so I've been trying to get them all.) I make plenty mistakes as well, including getting stunned where I was 100% positive I was going to die.

Nice deal on Wildlands, especially with the 20% off coupon putting it under $16 for standard. But I really want to get that on my X1X eventually.

How much better, if at all, is God Eater 2 over God Eater Resurrection? Got the later a while back but haven’t played it much yet.

Yes! It’s practically made to bring new blood into the franchise. It isn’t perfect (tutorials are still less than they could be and there’s still some things that aren’t explained well or at all) but it’s an amazing game and is supposed to be the most accessible titles in the series.
 
It seems weird that there are so few items with PS Plus discounts.  Maybe I just haven't been paying close enough attention to prior week sales, but I thought there were usually a lot more than that.

They did give ample time to redeem it. I think it was available from when pre-orders for the game went live early last year until Jan 31st of this year. Also, so many people were trying to give away codes in the PSN Code Trading thread.

Main difference between the two games is that melee weapons are complete trash in GER (like so utterly pointless they made a sword that exists solely to buff your gun damage) while they are actually viable in GE2. So depends if you want to play as a melee dude or not. Otherwise lots of the same monsters and maps.

Well fwiw it's mostly just me making sure most of my armor was upgraded. The first time I fought Nerg his full body attacks did around 60-70% of my HP, it was intense. But with mostly upgraded armor, a potion, and defense L from eating I hit almost 430 defense. Granted I did not use defense L in that video, went for attack L since I feel comfortable enough with the fight now not to rely on defense for a crutch. But yeah the innate defense bonus from melee weapons is noticeable, but so is the element bonus from ranged weapons, bosses with projectiles (like the final boss) can easily 2 shot me if I am not careful.

It's kinda disappointing that the one time I have a 20% off code and they do a Ubisoft publisher sale, Far Cry Primal is NOT on sale. Probably karma saying "ha, should have bought it last time."

What kind of reception did Watch Dogs 2 receive? I know a lot of people didn't like the first one for whatever reason, though I liked it.

I haven't played either, but I do recall most people saying that the sequel is better in practically every way.

I've seen people describe it as the same evolution the Assassin's Creed series took between 1 and 2.. basically they fixed everything wrong with the original.. haven't played it yet myself so can't give my personal opinion, though like you I did really enjoy the first one..

Thoughts on Hob, Gundam Vs., and R6? Are R6 rounds typically closer to 15 or 30 minutes? Wouldn't mind a MP shooter that doesn't require a lot time commitment.

R6 round time is probably comparable to Overwatch. If the teams are evenly matched and you are playing ranked, they can certainly go over a half hour. But if the teams are lopsided and/or you're playing Casual matchmaking, much shorter.
 
Also for anyone interested in Tales games this is the first time the bundle with both Symphonia games has gone on sell since 2016. Happy to see this discount cause Symphonia 2 went on sale a few times last year but the first game (nor the bundle) ever did. $2.50 per game is a heck of a deal.

Haven’t played a Dragon Ball game and can’t afford Fighterz right now. Is the first Xenoverse worth picking up for $8? Or is Xenoverse 2 much better to warrant springing ~$19?
 
I have a feeling the flash sale will be the following weekend, starting Feb. 16. The last one was Jan. 19th. But who knows?

Watch Dogs 2 is really fun as an open world game with the cool hacker powers.

 
Watchdoge 2 really is a great game with great characters and gameplay. Infinitely better than the first one and definitely recommended!
