Hm.. I think I'll get Tales of Symphonia and Rain. Has anybody played Rain? And if so, how good is it? It looks like the type of game I'd enjoy, because while I love my intense action-games and JRPGs, I also enjoy kicking back and playing a game of simple beauty too.

I'm also grappling with getting Chrono Cross. I see so many people in this thread saying to pass on Trigger since it has atrocious load times, but how much does Cross rely on Trigger? Will I be able to understand it without having played the first one?

It doesn't enough said.

Did you buy it on the account you are playing on? If not, you might want to make sure the account you bought it on is still set to primary on your console. A friend of mine had that issue this morning with his UK account when he was trying to play the new Sound Shapes DLC on his main account. The new PS4 update apparently cleared that account as being primary.
Sure did. Purchased it on the account I'm playing it on. So far, so good after my latest attempt to register the license. Guess we'll see what happens.

Cross and trigger are two totally different games

TRIGGER has EXP

CROSS Does not

I really enjoyed Rain, to the point where it's probably my favorite downloadable game in recent memory. It also holds a heavy influence to play it twice. The first time is just a straight forward puzzle/survival 3d platformer. The 2nd playthrough has you collect "memories" along the way that explain the story further. It's difficult not to play it twice.

Also, in Daylight. If the chick says "Is anybody there?" "I know there's someone there!" or "Who's there?" again I'm going to just let the witch scare me to death and quit.

Alright, thanks guys! I'll go ahead and get Chrono Cross then, and I'll get the Trigger remake on the DS some other time.

Sounds very promising. Thanks!

Call of Duty: Ghosts MP demo coming Friday that'll let you play until Monday morning.
:puke:

I almost always use "your" for everything because its a pain in the ass to use the correct form. I figure if everyone knows what you mean whats the point in taking more time to say the same thing. I rarely use commas as it is.
:wall:

punctuation is for commies anyways
I think you mean "Punctuation is for commas anyway."

I enjoyed my time with Rain. As long as you don't expect it to be a hardcore puzzle platformer, you'll probably enjoy it since that was kind of what the trailers made it out to be early on.

Well did a little research on titles I was interested.

Armor Core: Verdict day - scaled back singleplayer and more focus on multiplayer as well as a complicated user interface

Elevator Action Deluxe - average to lackluster update of the original game (reviews were average to poor) but it includes an accurate port of the original Elevator Action.

Moon Diver - basically the battletoadafication of Strider (done by the same developer of Strider). Local and online coop up to four characters. Includes stat point selections to level up your character as well as spells you can find and equip. Combo magic attacks possible in multiplayer.

From that I was turned off of armored core and will probably pick up the other two if they are ever sub $4.

Why were you turned off Armored Core? It's from the same developers of Demon's and Dark Souls. If you only played those games single player, would you feel you were missing out?

Demon's Souls/Dark Souls is a meaty Singe player campaign with always on multiplayer. Armored Core Verdict day is a thead bare collection of simple single player missions and is more focused on competitive multiplayer (compared to previous armored core titles), at least according to the reviews i read. Competitive multiplayer focus = little interest for me.

Picked up Muramasa, Ys and Armored Core.  I'm liking Muramasa more than Dragon's Crown; more action, less RPG equipment management.  There's a better combat system in play as well.

It's not more focused on multiplayer - that the series even has multiplayer is relatively new. The game doesn't have more or less single player content compared to the previous games, and the campaign is fully co-opable. You're not being penalized for not doing any of the clan war stuff. That's just there because mech fans have been lamenting Chromehounds' server shutdown and this is a nice alternative.

They're not the same kind of game despite sharing a developer and art style. One is a beat-em-up like Double Dragon or Final Fight; the other is a hack-and-slash platformer like Shinobi or Strider.

Got an interesting PM from midloo yesterday that could be best described as bitter, so I just put him on the ignore list and moved on.
I suppose midloo often says ridiculous things. Stumbled across this on the first page of the thread regarding the new Mario Kart 8 Bundle:

I've had fun with my Zelda Wii U console since I bought it on release day, but MAN.... This is a great bundle. Kind of tempted to buy it again and sell my Zelda console.
:whistle2:|

I do not recall people complaining about Chrono Trigger load times in the '90s.

But the Internet did not exist then.
Here's a video with examples of load times. Guess it depends on your level of tolerance, but after seeing the difference I wouldn't bother if I had other options. For those without a 3DS/DS it's also available on iOS and android, though playing on those obviously presents a new set of problems.
Mighty fine avatar you have there, btw. ;)
The load times for CT PS1 are not game breaking nor do they make it the unplayable travesty that people keep perpetuating.

Its certainly noticeable if you've played any cart versions of the game, but its completely functional and worth the price and time spent to experience it if you haven't already.
thanks for saying this. Everyone is talking about the game as if it is the plague. I wasn't bothered by the load times.

Bad idea to push a free weekend of ghosts when the game is completely fucked from 1.7 update.

I actually really like extinction mode -- way better than zombies! -- and have been playing Ghosts a lot. But I've crashed out ~10 times in an hour of (attempting to) play since updating to 1.7. Los of complaints on reddit, twitter, and activision support forums. Looks like its an issue on Sony's side. Friend lists are taking forever to update, recently met lists are wrong, and people are reporting crashes in other multiplayer games and from party chat.

No idea how this steamer made it past quality control. That they've not acknowledged the issues via twitter or on PS Blog is a bad sign, I'm afraid.

Chasm and Spelunky coming to PS4? Thanks for passing that along, Frisky. Very happy about that. Especially Chasm.

I suspect you haven't played the DS version. I also thought people might have been exaggerating, but the constant loading between menu screens and battles looks super annoying. I definitely wouldn't skip out on the game if there were no other options, though. Really enjoying it. Like someone mentioned earlier, the music is some of the best I've heard in a game. Crazy how frequently it's been sampled for other beats. Speaking of which, I believe it was re-done for PS1 so there is one advantage, I guess.

I'm incredibly hype about each title Frisky showcased except for Jamestown. Escape Goat was one of my favorite xbox indies and that Axiom Verge gameplay/music is tasty.

Think of it this way: Chrono Trigger is either $3.49 now or around $30 for a DS copy.

You know you're not going to play it either way so save your shelf space and $25 and get the PSN copy.

I would like people to please stop making games. Either that or someone give me a million dollars so I can quit working and actually get through this backlog.

All you need to know about Chrono Trigger:

Supposedly created with no prior knowledge of Never Gonna Give You Up.

It's really that high now? When I got my DS copy, it was $20 everywhere and in plentiful supply.
