This seems like a smart way to nudge PS3 holdouts toward picking up a Vita and/or PS4 with the games for PS3 being reduced down to 2.  For those of us with all 3 platforms, it just means more of a reason to play all 3 without needing to spend more cash to do so. 

For myself, with this change, and with 2 at a time from Gamefly, I do not know when I will ever buy another game from retail.  It has already been quite some time since I have bought anything from a store.  The occasional purchase from Gamefly with rewards dollars is about all I ever buy physical anymore.  That is just for games I think will take a long time due to grinds or online stuff when they get cheap.

 
Yeah, anyone that didn't abuse that Target pricing mistake in print ad deserves to pay more for games they wont play. Screw them.

In the trial of Atlas or whatever it's called where you have to make the statue lift the giant ball up and then go pull the levers to make him throw it I goofed up. I wasn't paying a ton of attention and went and pulled the end lever without remembering to get the crank from a different area and raise the boulder up. Played a little fail animation and I realized what I was doing, went and got the crank and saved before I went back in that room. Now I go in, raise the boulder up and it won't let me pull the switch any longer to proceed. :headache:

I'm still hoping this hits the PS2 classics list. We'll see. :(

I have to say that I much prefer 6 rotating titles monthly instead of titles that stick around. This'll be especially helpful for people with multiple PS+ subs, since it means that the overlap between NA and EU will (presumably) drop quite a bit with the higher game churn rate. But we'll see.

Regarding R&C, I guess we'll have to wait to see how it turns out. I think the success or failure of the R&C collection on Vita will really let us know whether Mass Media was at fault for the J&D issues or if it was just a very difficult port. If they mess up R&C, though, that's it for them (for me) as if nothing else it indicates that they have not enough pride as a company to hold back releases until they're sufficiently polished.

You mean quantity, right? We're still getting the same amount and quality of games every month, except that there's no big bump in June when they rotated out the evergreens. The only big difference is that new people won't have as many titles to claim from day one.

I don't know, I think it's going to hold it's own. Especially since all three are very different genres and games. Maybe Target will be kind enough to run a B2G1 right about then and I can pick up all three in one go.

My only complaint about the yearly titles was that it always seemed like once a year would be the only time we'd be guaranteed to get big blockbuster games. Sure, every couple months we would get something, but June every year was a definite. Now with this change, it could open up the possibility that any month could be a AAAAAAAAA title.

Taking out evergreen titles seems like a big mistake for potential newcomers. I think Sony realized that they could get away with lower quality considering their competition (microsoft). It would have been smarter to up the ante and crush the competition during June with E3 and all. Releasing an a game(2k14) without a chance to plat it seems like a doozy as well.

At this point, most newcomers would be joining for PS4, and they have to for online multiplayer. I'm okay with the change, but I already have more games from this than I could probably ever play.

Sweet month! This is the least amount of slappage I've experienced in probably a year! Evergreen titles going away really shouldn't matter to any of us, just new users. Only idiots aren't subscribed to plus for the next several years.

Imo, the quantity of games with PS+ has all to do with its quality.

It's another push to get you to keep your sub longer for the same level of quality.

Pretty much my thinking. Their "move" to crush the competition seems to be to have 2 PS4 titles a month. Everything else is just them changing policies because they know they can do what they want and get away with it.

This is why I expected the quality to drop. You're no longer paying $50 a year for just games. Now that they've got you hooked with the sub-dependent games you already have and a requirement for online MP, they have less incentive to try to bring in newcomers. They have the subscriber-base they wanted from day 1, so they're not desperate for subs anymore and they don't have to give the great value they used to to bring in customers. The complacency is expected, but still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

 
The new changes are just a reboot of how PS+ started it's monthly releases & kinda voids the "IGC" angle IMO.  I have to say that losing 1 PS3 game a month wouldn't be so annoying if 1 of the 2 monthly games didn't include a sports game.  Reason being that sports titles really are dead ducks unless given at their release.  The Basketball game next month is a perfect example.

I just hope that as PS3 games are scaled back that PS+ Vita games with cross buy/play options will also include PS3 playability.

 
I don't understand the whining. We're getting the same amount of games every month. We're losing out on the yearly update of three games but that's not a huge deal in the big picture.

This is right. I don't get the complaining. We're looking at 72 games a year now. Before the PS4 was released it was around 60 with 3 evergreen titles. Leave it to gamers to consider an increase of 9 games per year a "drop in quality" and "kick in the teeth".

And breaking news, the evergreens weren't all that great guys. LBP Karting had already been $10 on PSN before it was free. Uncharted 3 had significantly dropped in price already. Xcom was getting cheaper too plus it had a newer, better version coming out.

It's great! There weren't any issue with the packaging, and I didn't have any problems swapping out the hard drive for a 1 TB hybrid, going through lots of settings, downloading a ton of apps and PS+ games, and playing two hours of inFamous: Second Son.

The PS4 box came in a large cardboard box with The Show and air bubbles all around it. Very pleased!

Even if they hadn't removed the evergreens, PS+ would have increased the games per month for PS4 to 2 to compete with the Xbone. So it's a moot point, imo.

So, they mean they will change the game lineup every month? So technically we will get more games per year..but its still if you download them or add them to your download list you get to keep them as long as you have your subscription active right? So it doesn't really effect people who already had the subscription since we already downloaded all the previous games, and most of us add them to our list the tuesday they come out :).

I guess the change doesn't bother me IF we get to keep the games as long as we add them to our download list..i would hate if they add a game on a tues of a certain month and it would have an expiration date of 30 days...like taking a book out of a library :p

so much this. people complain on the blog all the time about evergreens, now they're answering the call. so instead of several titles holding down spots for a year, we're going to get more games to replace them earlier.

and lol @ the required sub conspiracy. i started my plus sub before i even bought a ps3, back on the psp. i'm pretty sure the ps4 players are in the minority of the plus subscribers. also, looking at this month's update, i'd say the quality hasn't dropped at all. still far better than what ms is offering, even if you don't get to keep them.

people are trying so hard to find any fault in sony that they can. sony just too good

Did you get a Seagate drive? I had one of those hybrids once and it crashed on me in less than a week. Would love to hear how it works out.

Yeah I've commented on the PS Blog a couple times saying how positive I think these changes are, long-run. Assuming they read them, want to make sure they know there are a few patient people out there that aren't "What? We're not getting 11 games on PS+ in June? Waaaaaaa!" Long run this change is better for us.

The US PS blog is actually fairly mixed though. The EU blog is the one with all the complainers that I saw.

News flash: Sony is a company. They're more or less just as bad as everyone else. :wall:

The required sub isn't a conspiracy, it's a business/marketing tactic. One they've used very well.

Maybe not, but it looks obvious to me that the move is meant to compete with MS, whether the Xbone is getting 2 titles or not. Either way, I'm not too concerned, I know I'm getting a PS4 before an Xbone unless their E3 can really wow me.

I'm only complaining about the removal of the evergreen titles as it's a move downward to match the quality of XBL Gold + GwG. I really can't see much of the positive in this aside from the 9 "extra" titles a year.

I know it doesn't affect the majority of you, but not everyone is subbed to PS+ forever, and it affects those of us who aren't.

Everyone should just always have a PS+ sub, build up their library, keep a healthy spreadsheet about said games, watch it grow, bath in the games, buy a vita, check off games you played and finished in your spreadsheet, complain when the plus games aren't what you wanted, praise them when they are, or announce it if they are games you bought and Sony bitch slapped you like the rest of us. Jeez. Kids today.

You're getting a PS4 before an Xbox One? I thought you already had an Xbone. That surprises me, and pleases me.

And yes, the general assumption is that everyone here is a lifelong PS+ member. I guess there are negatives to these changes if you aren't one. But we definitely don't take that viewpoint here. And honestly, can you blame us? Access to 60 games a year for $50 (or $40 or $30) is an amazing deal. It gets less amazing when you don't have all the Sony consoles, but again most the crowd here has 2 and is planning on getting the 3rd in the future.

the required sub is a conspiracy in the fact that people keep making the claim it's going to drop the quality of plus, and it has yet to do that. i wish we had stats, cause i'm sure a big chunk of ps4 buyers already had plus before they bought the system. only the people who ran from ms would have been without the sub. they might have pulled in some casuals with it, but i don't believe it was some super successful tactic that boosted them to new heights.

it's only seen as a downward move to those who don't have plus, and they're giving you plenty of notice to sub and "purchase" those games now. igc was more of a tactic to get subscribers than the ps4 multiplayer is. pretty sure there's even a two week free trial you can get now to grab the whole collection before it's removed. they made their move to pull in more subs, and now they're making a move for those of us who've been there for all/most of the time.

Not a fan of getting ps4 remakes of ps3 psn games as part of ps+. I'd rather it just be all new games. PS+ members probably already bought these games for cheap on ps3 during one of the many sales.

I don't have a vita so sly is only ps+ game from june that I will play.

Not a basketball fan so I won't bother with 2k14. No big complaints there for me. Just wish the ps4 offerings were original offerings, not games I paid $2-5 for years ago.

Not to mention, even if you don't have 1 of the consoles and/or the Vita, there's nothing preventing you from adding the game to your account until you do. So that's an added incentive where you would have a nice library of titles waiting for you when you do get the console, particularly the Vita.

I think it's more likely that the people "whining & whinging" are people who simply have a different viewpoint or simply not adequately describing what they're upset about.

Some people see the subscription including 72 games per year instead of the 64 or so games that have been included in the past. IMO this isn't true because some of the games are duplicates since they are PSN/Vita cross-play. That's not a complaint, but a point of view.

When you look at this list of games do you count them to be 10 games or 20? It's all about perspective.

I understand that the PS3 is the "dying" console out of the 3 systems now included in PS+. IMO the scaling back of included PS3 games is the main source of "whining & whinging".
