With Xbox, there's seemingly an unwritten rule that any GWG titles aren't put on sale at least 1 - 2 months before they go free, and I figured the same for PS. Apparently that was a mistake.

Are you sure this is true? I feel like I've seen complaints once or twice before of people buying a game on sale shortly before it was on GWG, though maybe I'm confusing it with the typical complaints in that thread.

I did a little research into this myself, it looks like it was a pre-order bonus, and then included with PS+ copies within the first two weeks of it going "free". Unfortunately, I got it with PS+ way too late, a shame because I have a lot of sentimental attachment to the original.

I'd go with the Steam version if you have to pick one or the other, they patched the Steam version to support 60 FPS which really helps the platforming. Not to mention the Steam version is infinitely cheaper at the moment.

They have not confirmed that there wont be a vita version. But considering that it wasn't already in motion I don't have high hopes of it getting a vita release.

Though Shadow Complex Remastered still feels a bit clunky at times, it has held up really well. It has a few weird, non important bugs that I've seen, like enemy corpses ragdolling into the background after I take them out and I was able to drop kick a guy from the water below as the weird melee attack it decided to go with while I was swimming. That's just more of a humorous thing than an issue. The trophy list seems to have a lot of "complete the game with X condition" trophies that looks like a more difficult platinum than the original 200 points on XBLA.

Worst part of the Plus price increase is all the bitching and complaining about it.  In 2016, you pay to play games online on playstation and xbox.  With that you get things like cloud storage of saves and "free" games.  Don't like it, don't buy it.  It's all bundled together (online play,  games, etc) and pretty damn cheap.  Hell, wouldn't it suck if console companies just made us pay to play online and charged us for save storage and gave zero free games.  But since they do offer more than online play, people become entitled and whiney.  I don't understand it (I guess I do, it's the internet it's what people do) but I don't go buy McDonald's and complain that they're not offering me steak for the same price as the hamburgers.  If I don't want what they give me, I stop spending money there.

Totally agree. $10 more per year is really peanuts, like 84 cents a month. PS+ discounts alone far exceed the entire cost of the service for people who buy a lot of digital games (like me). I don't even game online but it's still worth it for me.

If 84 cents more a month is a problem for someone, they really have much bigger issues to deal with than an already cheap gaming service.

I literally said in that post, "And no, inflation doesn't justify a $10 increase either.". Money is not worth 20% less than it was 5 years ago. The number is closer to 7%.

For what it's worth, I don't doubt that costs are higher than they were 5 years ago. But not high enough to justify a hike like this with 0 benefit to the consumer, especially when they are also making more money than ever through these subs.

Not to mention that they also have 3 different systems they are now supporting. More servers cost more money. Im surprised it wasnt increased closed to when ps4 was released.

Except PS+ wasn't required for MP at the time, and now it is, meaning there are far more subscribers to offset any possible increase in the costs of providing "server support". Not to mention even the PS4 (where it's required for MP) has a much larger install base than the Vita ever did, so I consider the Vita a non-factor.

If the original servers were really so costly, then the PS3 would have never offered free online. You'd have to be very naive to think the subscriptions (both PS+ and XBL Gold) don't have incredibly comfortable profit margins, "free" games aside. Each sub generates over a billion in revenue a year, how much of that do you really think is being spent on servers and games?

Edit: Don't forget server cost is also covered by Sony/Microsoft's cut of digital sales (30% iirc). That's how Steam keeps its lights on without charging for online MP, for example.

It does seem like a whole lot of complaining about a fairly minor issue (84 cents extra per month). Hard to understand the magnitude of the problem when you see how minor it really is.

Also, for whoever said we should be understanding because Sony is supporting three different systems with PS Plus: Did Sony ask anyone about this?  Did Sony give us the option to choose which systems we want them to support?  Why am I paying for a bunch of games on a system I may or may not own or care about?  I'm guessing the reality is that Sony is selling a lot of PS Plus subscriptions to people solely on the basis of having a PS4 alone and not because they have multiple systems.  Why don't they offer a PS4 only option for PS Plus if this is a legitimate argument?  I understand the logistical issues of this, so my questions are rhetorical.

Let's be clear, this is CAG and any Cag that get's caught paying this extra $10 isn't a CAG at all. I mean we all got plenty of warning and could buy it for around $40 for multiple years through deals posted in this very forum and can still buy it at $50 if the $10 is that big of a concern. Who here that is a real cag is going to be paying this $10 increase anytime soon? Seriously... the issue isn't even an issue for anyone in this thread today. It's just a reason to complain.

And you have an option of deciding if the service is of value to you. If it doesn't offer enough to make the price worth it, you pass... if it is worth it, you get it. The more systems and family members you have the more value the service offers. If you are a cag and you have PS+ and you don't care about PS3 and Vita games you are still a cag so you lock in licenses for all of the games every month because you are a cag... by that I mean the G part... you are a GAMER... and you know under the right circumstances it's possible one day you could have a vita or want to play some old PS3 games and having a large library of games for free for a system before you get it isn't a bad thing.

Not going to get into the fray of whether the $10 increase is justified. But I'm sure we'll still continue to get plenty of deals on PS+ and XBL Gold so I'm not that concerned about it.

People will pay $5 for a Starbucks coffee but increase the PS + price by $10 a year and that's over the line. If you set aside 3 pennies every day you will have more than the $10 dollars extra you will need to pay for Playstation plus.
