I can recommend DDS1 as I played it for the first time this summer. Has a better story than most SMT games, but make sure to buy both because they combine to make a full storyline. Favorite part was the music, because it's a very heavy atmosphere. I'm planning on playing DDS2 soon (got it a few weeks ago)

Question - I need to free up some space on my PS3's hard drive. Do all those "bubble" icons that represent Vita versions of games take up memory on the hard drive? Will deleting them help to free up space?

You can also delete installs and dlc for games you already finished and wont be going back to. Since I've read those installs when stacked up take up an enormous amount of space.

Nocturne is ok but I played both it and digital devil saga 1 on the ps2. Just be aware that nocturne is incredibly hard for some bosses like matador. If you've played persona 3/4 its harder than them. dds is more even to p3/4 if not easier due to your party members all basically being the equivalent of the mc minus fixed stats. You can teach every party member every ability in the game.

Biggest issues for dds are stomache ache ailment can really screw you over since it prevents you from gaining exp/skill points. The random encounter rate can be really high (same for nocturne) where you go one step and get into a battle save at the save point you were near and get into another battle after you exit the save point without really even moving. And the final boss uses a incurable status ailment on you and it gets randomly cured on one of your characters while the other 2 will be unable to act. rng can be really unkind for that and I had to redo the battle a couple of times because of it.

They have quite a few times, but come to think of it usually 50% off. So if a PS+ member you might be right, just grab both for 7 bucks total.

They along with the persona titles and other smt games used to be 3/4$ a piece on average until atlus decided to get too big for their britches and increase the average sale prices over the last year or two. I already have all the games for 3-4$ from sales years ago.

Is the additional DLC included in Helldivers: ultimate edition worth it over just getting the Democracy Strikes Back Edition?

Here's what's shitty, there are 14 DLC packs for Helldivers, but the Super Earth "Ultimate Edition" is just the digital bundle of the disc version, which only comes with 12 of the 14 DLC packs. That's why the game's page has 2 add-ons to buy. One is the precision pack which has a decent airstrike stratagem, but the other is the terrain-specialist pack which includes the all-terrain boot perk, which allows for full speed movement in snow and swamps, is very useful.

The Democracy strike-back edition includes the base-game and that terrain specialist pack which is missing from the ultimate edition.

Unfortunately there is no digital or disc bundle currently that includes all the DLC.

$20 is what you can buy the Helldivers disc for new at gamestop (the PS3, Vita, and DLC is on a voucher so you will not want to buy it used) so you might as well buy it on disc if you are looking to get the bundle with most of the DLC. If you only plan to play it on PS3 or Vita you can then keep the voucher and immediately trade-in the disc to get a few bucks back to make the net cost slightly cheaper than the PSN price.

Judging by your join date I assume you are not a teenager.. Generally when I have run into people that don't like Volgarr and those sorts of games they are younger and didn't grow up with the same unforgiving games as most of us here.

I personally loved Volgarr and would say it is one of the best throwback games of at least the past five years. Reminded me of a mix between Ghosts and Goblins and an old arcade game my grandparents used to have the cabinet for, Toki.

I personally loved Volgarr and would say it is one of the best throwback games of at least the past five years. Reminded me of a mix between Ghosts and Goblins and an old arcade game my grandparents used to have the cabinet for, Toki.

That's a great comparison, though I may say it's harder than Ghosts and Goblins having actually finished that one in my youth.

Judging by your join date I assume you are not a teenager.. Generally when I have run into people that don't like Volgarr and those sorts of games they are younger and didn't grow up with the same unforgiving games as most of us here.

I got it in a bundle to play on my PC and it was a Games With Gold entry on Xbox One, so I can't say I regret owning it, but if you gauge a game's value by your ability to progress through it, it isn't worth paying full price for it. But, you're right. It is a throwback in much the same way that Maldita Castilla is, so it's meant to be difficult.

Anyone recommend SMT: Nocturne, DDS 1+2??

I loved/love Nocturne, it's definitely a challenge but a dark and wonderful game. Building your army and trucking through the dungeons is a blast, I sunk countless hours on this one. Liked the other DDS 1&2 too, but Nocturne to me is the superior game and one of my favorite PS2 games.

Grabbing Tomba per the love it's getting on here and God Hand which I stupidly sold off years ago. Thanks Sony!

Persona 5 has been delayed to 4/4 to give the team some more time to properly polish the game, but there will be free Japanese VO available at launch. They've also released a free pack of avatars and a dynamic theme for PS4 that is only available for today:

Pretty much sums up my view having it on Xbox One. I can understand why people would like it as a throwback but it was way too difficult for my tastes (and I'm 47!).

Here's what's shitty, there are 14 DLC packs for Helldivers, but the Super Earth "Ultimate Edition" is just the digital bundle of the disc version, which only comes with 12 of the 14 DLC packs. That's why the game's page has 2 add-ons to buy. One is the precision pack which has a decent airstrike stratagem, but the other is the terrain-specialist pack which includes the all-terrain boot perk, which allows for full speed movement in snow and swamps, is very useful.

The Democracy strike-back edition includes the base-game and that terrain specialist pack which is missing from the ultimate edition.

Unfortunately there is no digital or disc bundle currently that includes all the DLC.

$20 is what you can buy the Helldivers disc for new at gamestop (the PS3, Vita, and DLC is on a voucher so you will not want to buy it used) so you might as well buy it on disc if you are looking to get the bundle with most of the DLC. If you only plan to play it on PS3 or Vita you can then keep the voucher and immediately trade-in the disc to get a few bucks back to make the net cost slightly cheaper than the PSN price.

The reinforcement packs are just bundles of 3 of the individual DLC packs.

When Helldivers went PS+ and I finally decided to redeem the retail code I gained access to the all terrain pack that I never had before when just using the PS4 disc. Don't know if it came from the retail code or the PS+ release. Now I'm only missing the precision pack (which is very skippable).

If you get a cheap used disc copy you'll have access to all but the 2 DLCs if you're only planning on playing on PS4. The DLC is on disc, no code required.

I've been looking forward to Volgarr as well, but it sounds like an overly difficult game like Slain, which is unfortunate. Why can't these games be a little friendlier for people who don't want insanely difficult experiences?

Well I may buy it anyway, we'll see.

EDIT: Watched a video of gameplay, will wait for a sub-$5 price. Looks way too punishing. I passed on Slain for the same reason.

The Persona 5 delay is disappointing. I was planning a vacation week around that and Nioh. Im probably one of the few who couldn't care less about the Japanese VO so that's not much of a consolation. The English voice acting was one of my favorite parts of P4 and I'm expecting that to continue in P5.
