For Souls and Bloodborne fans, what's the best way to get into the series? Should I just strike out on my own, use some guide, or something else? I probably will play Demon's Souls first... eventually.

Personally, Bloodborne is the first From game I've ever played. I ended up buying some CE guide because the maps are detailed so beautifully and it also came with a code for a special PS4 theme. It was incredibly helpful by listing stats for everything from weapons to monsters, etc. The guide will not make any part of the game easier per se, but it's a great resource for sure.

It's my GotY so far and I'm looking forward to DS3 next year and the upcoming Bloodborne DLC.

Helldivers stand alone was indeed $19.99 even at launch so not sure how they can say it's a "price drop" unless it's a mistake and the newer bundle was supposed to drop.

Thinking about buying some PS Minis to go in for the spend $100, get $15 back. I'm definitely buying Denki Blocks because I had it on Game Boy Advance way back when. Any others I should get?

The only minis that I kept on my vita after playing them all were:

MiniSquadron -- my favorite mini. Plays like time pilot, but with lots of unlockable ships.

I think the best way to play is to go in blind at first. you'll die soon enough. explore, die, explore, die. Don't stress it... you're just getting used to the controls, etc. Once you [and if you] reach your limit, turn to a guide. But I definitely wouldn't go in using a guide, because some of the most epic moments would lose a lot of 'oomph' if you read about it first and are expecting it. It's much better to let the game teach you what's up than some guide.

Some pro tips -- never stress losing some souls here or there. It's not the end of the world. Eventually, you'll be rolling in them and what feels like a lot early on is tiddly winks. The games don't really 'require' leveling, though it certainly helps a ton.

In D*Souls, don't play it like an action game. Round corners with your shield up. Don't button mash -- you'll run out of stamina and without stamina even your shield is worthless. Rather, watch the enemy for a bit... watch their windups, block/dodge, attack. Learn to backstab.

Don't worry too much about class -- magic users/royals tend to be easier at first, but it's a classless game and once you're a few levels in all classes are pretty much the same. I never used magic in them unless req'd for a trophy in ng+ or ng++.

If you've decided, after dying some, that you need some external help, google 'best early weapon' or something like that, and just get directions on how to find a nice weapon. That will help power you up in a way that doesn't ruin the experience. But it's best if you don't even do that.

Maybe next week we'll get some decent horror titles on sale. I feel like every other week it's some GTA or LEGO discount. Was tempted for Shadows of Mordor, but the price of the physical PS4 edition keeps dropping, so guess I'll wait it out.

IIRC the Axiom Verge guy said that the game specifically wouldn't be discounted for 6 (?) months at a minimum after launch since he didn't want to punish early adopters, or something along those lines.

The Axiom Verge dev is going to give a month or two heads up for an upcoming sale, so if there isn't one right now, there may not be a sale until the end of the year or early 2016. That'll save you the need to ask about it every week.

Axiom Verge dev has the wrong idea in my opinion. I get it. You spent years and you made a thing that people enjoy, but I think he's selling himself short in the long run. Check out Zeboyd Games comments on indie game sales. They've made a good living off selling their games at a fair opening price and following with frequent and well-timed sales. AND their core fans still pony up the full asking price to support them. Look at Spiderweb software for another example.

There are actual levels to play through, though they're pretty short compared to the main game. But you get to use the DLC characters in the main game too.

Plus Stephen Amell does the voiceover for the Arrow DLC so that's pretty cool.

It was in the past and is cross buy. So my guess would be you claimed it then and when the PS4 version came out you didn't reclaim them.

They might be on sale again if PSN does the two week sale of the dead like they have done the previous few years.
