anyone else getting an error when checking out? I'm using the web interface in chrome...
I'm getting the error in firefox, thought I was just using the wrong password but that wasn't the problem. I'm just going to try purchasing what I want through my PSTV.

edit - Yeah not going to update my PSTV to 3.55. It let me make my purchase finally through firefox.

Got The Last Guy, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut and Lunar: Silver Star Harmony.

Ys Seven...yay or nay
If you like a classic JRPG feel with action RPG battle mechanics, I'd say go for it. I picked it up and played to the first boss so far and am enjoying it. Took probably 45 minutes before the action started to get going. But heard it's pretty action packed from this point on.

And damn that first boss was a bitch. I was only level 2 when I got to it. After getting my ass kicked several times, I ended up going back and grinding to level 5 and finally beat him (after a few more tries).

I hadn't played a Ys game but this is supposed to be one of the more highly regarded.

Ended up grabbing Sniper Elite 3 UE, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Half-Minute Hero, Lunar Silver Second Story, and Zero Escape.

I'm excited to get my PS4 remote tomorrow from Best Buy. The one issue I've seen so far is that there are no dedicated buttons for subtitles/audio tracks.

If you're looking for lesser known Flash Sale stuff to grab:

MotorStorm Apocalypse - Great racing game that uses environmental hazards to change up the track on each lap, which can happen randomly each time you play that race. It also has great online multiplayer, though I don't know that it's populated very well at this point.

The Last Guy - A weird extension of the idea of Snake that originated as a minigame in Work Time Fun, but on maps made from Google Maps from well-known cities around the word.

Half-Minute Hero - Fantastic puzzle RPG game where you try to figure out how to get through each level as efficiently as possible that spoofs classic RPGs. It has four main modes of varying types of gameplay (RTS, puzzle, dual-stick shooter) that extends the overarching story across several hundred years.

I'm having a good time with the Gauntlet that is on sale, great addition of the twin stick shooter mechanic to the classic game and a lot of great callbacks to the old game.  Can't wait to try out multiplayer.

Somehow, Zero Escape isn't showing up as purchased for me even though I'm pretty sure I grabbed it when it was a PS+ game.
Same thing happened to me with Infamous 2.

That's too bad, really liked the PS3 Media Remote setup.

Earlier this year, Battlefield was on sale, both vanilla and Premium. At the time, the main game was included in Premium...is that not the case now?

I was trying to redownload it over the weekend, and I have all the DLC but not the game itself? Anyone have a clue on this?

There are two different things called Battlefield 4 Premium. One is the Season Pass for Battlefield 4 and the other is a bundle with both called Battlefield 4 Premium Edition.

Seems more like a web portal to access the Uplay "goodies".
They already had that. This is offering some new stuff like discount rewards, automatic inclusion in betas, and some challenge stuff related to their games. Some of it isn't live yet and is launching later this year. All of your Uplay account stuff carries over into this new thing.

The Axiom Verge dev is going to give a month or two heads up for an upcoming sale, so if there isn't one right now, there may not be a sale until the end of the year or early 2016. That'll save you the need to ask about it every week.
Speaking of Metroidvania-style stuff will we EVER see Studio Touhou stuff on PSN?

If they sold those game at a pat $10 a piece I'd probably buy each on release on PSN.

So psn deal with spend $100 works with psn cards bought from Amazon?
Going to buy $100 on amazon and put into psn wallet.

This should give me the $15 right?

Nope, you also have to use it to buy stuff worth the $100 on PSN. Loading up the wallet is not sufficient.

Seems like they named these very poorly, the one without the word "edition" is just called Battlefield 4 Premium, but only contains 5 expansion packs + "extras":

They actually did that once; it was enough if you used PP to load your wallet, for $10 in PSN bucks. Must've (sorry, Must of) left a bad taste in their mouths. :)
Yeah but that was still like spending it to me since it came from cash or not prepaid cards that can be funded from credit.

Which reminds me that we've all been waiting like two years for a few a year of PS+ get some extra time promo.

Yeah, agreed. But that didnt guarantee that the money got spent on PSN. Well, eventually it did get spent, since you have no other option with the PSN bucks. So I guess they won? fuck, they won, didnt they? :wall:

Which order should I play the Ys games in?  I know they aren't totally connected.

Also...

Helldivers is AMAZING. picked it up from gamefly for $20.   don't know why I waited on it for this long, it's a fantastic, tactical, military style coop dual stick shooter style (dual stick move/aim, trigger to fire since there is friendly fire).   so good.  Sooooo good.

I forgot to mention, I will spend it.
Just wasn't sure I needed to load/buy balance specifically from psn site.

So using psn cards from outside psn should be good right.

Has anyone spotted a deal on PS+ subscriptions? I want to join PS+ this month, so I can get Broken Age for free, but I haven't seen any deals lately. Either I can't recall the last time the subs were on sale or I missed it.

I've seen a few for $40. I think Newegg had one a few days ago.

Some quick impressions of the new PS4 media remote:

  • The back has a similar texture to the DualShock 4, which is a nice surprise.
  • It's much thinner than I expected, which looks to be about 20% thinner than the PS3 remote in terms of horizontal width. That means it's also much lighter than the PS3 remote.
  • It's technically longer than the PS3 remote due to the weird angled bottom that sticks out. Without that, they'd be the same length.
  • It uses AAA batteries instead of AA, which kind of sucks since I'd throw in the nearly dead batteries from my other devices that it could last on for months. This is the only device I own that uses AAA batteries.
  • No subtitle or audio buttons for easy DVD/BR changes, as I mentioned earlier.
  • The d-pad is much better than the PS3 remote's ring, as it's easier to blindly tell when you're on a direction and it's a clicky d-pad.
  • It'll take time to get used to the face buttons not surrounding the d-pad like on the PS3 remote.

You just missed one, there was a deal for $40 PS+ via ebay that ended 2 days ago.

Any purchases on PSN will go through the wallet, even if you use a cc card or add money from a PSN card. To qualify for this promo, just spend $100 on PSN and you're good.

Damn I need more deals!

Bought $50 amazon gift card with extra $10 credit for free.

So $60 PSN for $50.

Had $5 in Sony Rewards Points, bought $10 PSN card for $5.

So far I'm at: $55 for $70 PSN credit.

I can't find any deals for PSN cards though.

For a deal on PSN cards, buy $50 GS gift card at RiteAid, get $10 in Plenti points, use $50 GS gift card to buy $50 psn card, use $10 credit to buy gas ar Exxon/Mobil. Gets you 20% off the psn card, max 2 deals er Plenti account. Enuf created a thread with the deal, credit to him!

I was looking forward to Helldivers before it came out, but once it did, I read a lot of reviews that pretty much said the SP content was weak. I understand it is primarily a coop game, but if the SP mode is unfair to a single player, it's not worth it to me. That's why I skipped it.

What's your impression of the single player mode?

With the right equipment, it's possible to stealth through a Helldive but it's 1000x more fun playing online with a competent team and a headset. I normally loathe both of those things but Helldivers is an exception for me.

I waited on it because it was 'primarily coop' as well, and i don't often have time for coop games.

I played around 5 missions solo -- from the main hub, you can select from a bunch of missions/difficultly, or join someone else's game. I was still learning the ropes, then today, after a few minutes, people just came in and joined my game 'naturally' till we had a full team. I didn't have to 'do' anything, which was nice -- in fact, I actually thought i was playing SP.

The way the game works is this [from what I can gather, I'm still new to it] is that there are multiple galactic campaigns going on at any given time (each with different enemy types, etc). Each campaign has different active regions, fronts, etc... and you pick a mission from one of those fronts, difficultly, etc.

Difficultly is significant; 'very easy'/'easy' missions have low enemy counts, limited enemy types, etc.... whereas even on medium you start to see -crazy- stuff going down, and there are many levels above that.

Your goal is to take over a planet in whatever system is at war -- and so each planet is a series of 2 or 3 missions. Each mission has several different objectives (# and type dependent on difficulty). Completing a planet gives you special rewards and you contribute points towards the overall 'conquest' of system, eventually getting to the homeworld of that alien race -- so basically, everyone playing HD is contributing.

Perks, special weapons, etc, are called by first programming, then throwing, a special grenade type sensor that ships overhead pick up on and supply drop on. You need to do Contra style codes [you don't need to remember them, they are on screen] dependent on what you want.

Now... if you play -purely- single player, you'll miss out on the social aspects... for example, if someone dies anyone can recall them by throwing a recall grenade. This creates super tense moments if 3 out of 4 players are down, for example, and one person is trying to type in the recall code to get everyone back before being swarmed. It all works really well.

Solo, you just get 1 auto-recall if you die, +1 recall for each objective you complete. It's all still very doable, and I'm sure enemy count is affected by number of players in play... I was having fun just playing solo, but it really bloomed once I went coop. The game isn't really 'story' based [though there are really funny Starship Troopers style propaganda commercials.

Actually, that's very much what the game feels like - Starship Troopers.

Ultimately, if you're only going to play solo... definitely wait for a sale, or just skip it maybe? I don't know. It's still a solid game, but it's clearly best when you're on a team. From recalls, to friendly fire, to various support techniques, to just having a spread of perks available across all team members... it just works in coop.

It's worth noting missions aren't -that- long. You can get in a coop session easily [you see a list of active rooms, or people can just drop into your game]... there's even a special code grenade for 'emergency help' that prioritizes your room. You can easily have a nice session in under an hour.

Is this an official one your talking about or a 3rd party? I havent bothered getting one because i didn't see an official one avalible.
