Bought a Vita a little over a week ago and have been enjoying it immensely. PS1 games, Mini's, the indies, physical games... it's been well worth the money. Tracking down physical game releases has been fun too. It's sort of a blessing in disguise that the system has a little more than 1/2 the physical releases of the Dreamcast in North America. Anyway, I finished my first run through SteamWorld Dig yesterday. The new SteamWorld game looks like it'll be pretty fantastic, I will have to get that at launch. Hopefully we get word soon when it will launch because everything I read said it would be out in the Fall this year.

Forget the store, dig through your purchase/download history and it should be there. It could be the version you bought was delisted from the store, but it should be available through your purchase history.

It was free on PS+ back in March. Not that it helps you but, that might explain the price staying firm. $20 for a digital game is a bit rich for my blood too, but if it were a game I was over the moon about and itching to play I'd throw the money down without regret. Well, that is after waiting to see what goes on sale today... no sense in buying anything till the new sales drop and we find out if there is a sale like last year.

What's the funding source? I found, like many others, that funding directly from a CC didn't work. Beyond that, if on a browser make sure if you are using adblock and/or scriptblock that you have all of the parts of the store whitelisted or you'll get issues.

 
I downloaded Binding of Isaac for Vita when it was free with PS+ some time ago and I want it for PS4 but when I go to the store, it shows I have to pay $14.99 even though it's cross-buy. Weird.

The PS4 version doesn't say anything about cross buy. In fact, none of the versions do.

I waited on it because it was 'primarily coop' as well, and i don't often have time for coop games.

I played around 5 missions solo -- from the main hub, you can select from a bunch of missions/difficultly, or join someone else's game. I was still learning the ropes, then today, after a few minutes, people just came in and joined my game 'naturally' till we had a full team. I didn't have to 'do' anything, which was nice -- in fact, I actually thought i was playing SP.

The way the game works is this [from what I can gather, I'm still new to it] is that there are multiple galactic campaigns going on at any given time (each with different enemy types, etc). Each campaign has different active regions, fronts, etc... and you pick a mission from one of those fronts, difficultly, etc.

Difficultly is significant; 'very easy'/'easy' missions have low enemy counts, limited enemy types, etc.... whereas even on medium you start to see -crazy- stuff going down, and there are many levels above that.

Your goal is to take over a planet in whatever system is at war -- and so each planet is a series of 2 or 3 missions. Each mission has several different objectives (# and type dependent on difficulty). Completing a planet gives you special rewards and you contribute points towards the overall 'conquest' of system, eventually getting to the homeworld of that alien race -- so basically, everyone playing HD is contributing.

Perks, special weapons, etc, are called by first programming, then throwing, a special grenade type sensor that ships overhead pick up on and supply drop on. You need to do Contra style codes [you don't need to remember them, they are on screen] dependent on what you want.

Now... if you play -purely- single player, you'll miss out on the social aspects... for example, if someone dies anyone can recall them by throwing a recall grenade. This creates super tense moments if 3 out of 4 players are down, for example, and one person is trying to type in the recall code to get everyone back before being swarmed. It all works really well.

Solo, you just get 1 auto-recall if you die, +1 recall for each objective you complete. It's all still very doable, and I'm sure enemy count is affected by number of players in play... I was having fun just playing solo, but it really bloomed once I went coop. The game isn't really 'story' based [though there are really funny Starship Troopers style propaganda commercials.

Actually, that's very much what the game feels like - Starship Troopers.

Ultimately, if you're only going to play solo... definitely wait for a sale, or just skip it maybe? I don't know. It's still a solid game, but it's clearly best when you're on a team. From recalls, to friendly fire, to various support techniques, to just having a spread of perks available across all team members... it just works in coop.

It's worth noting missions aren't -that- long. You can get in a coop session easily [you see a list of active rooms, or people can just drop into your game]... there's even a special code grenade for 'emergency help' that prioritizes your room. You can easily have a nice session in under an hour.

Thanks for the information, you pretty much confirmed that this is a game designed mainly for coop, with little thought put into the SP mode. I'll wait for a deep discount on either the physical or digital versions, and maybe pick it up later. I appreciate your taking the time to write all that up!

 
My Question is.... With the (Hopefully) October Halloween Sale that will happen soon! Do the games that go on sale during the Halloween event ever show up cheaper for the next sale (Black Friday Flash Sale , Christmas/New Years Sale) or is it safe to just get them now and reap the benefits of the cheapness?

EDIT: After reading the developer's web site, it sounds like the co-op may be local-only, which is not helpful to me.  :(

The only reason Sony may try to get Battlefield: Hardline is that it just went into the EA Access Vault so it would be a slick move to say 'hey, you don't need to pay for another subscription on PS4 to play games like this".

That's ok, Capcom, I understand not putting Resident Evil HD in a Halloween themed undead sale. I can hold out as long as you can. I'll buy it on PS7 when it's a re-re-re-remake but I'll tell you this much, I'm not paying a penny over ten bucks.

 
I played well over 500 hours of Castlevania Harmony of Despair and would gladly buy it again on ps3, but they would need to put the dlc on sale as well.

Siren PS3 is an amazing game and I highly recommend it to all. Really good survival horror game, I hope we get a new one for PS4.

Same here... those Sonic Boots & Valmanways +1 grinding right? LOL :whistle2:D If I recall, they had the DLC on sale a while back.. think they were going for $1 each... don't quote me on that but I decided to get the rest [except music DLC] due to them being on sale. I don't think Konami cares currently. We know they like Pachinko machines that has DLC somehow intergrated into them LOL :whistle2:D

 
Damn. Been holding out for Darkstalkers Ressurection to hit $5 or less. $6 is close enough that I am seriously considering it. That's very frustratingly tempting.

I think if Murasaki Baby ever hits $5 I'll get it, even though I am fairly certain that the controls will make me hate the game.

$5 or less for sure. It was decent but the touch controls are stupid.

Skippable at any price point. A fantastic collection of really cool ideas and unique combat systems -- from creating your own team of 9 (3 teams of 3) helper classes, to positional weaknesses (you can surround enemies, etc), tons of classes, tons of 'secret' unlockable skills based on class combinations...

all ruined by the fact the game is stone cold easy and there is never a point at which you can't just hold X to win and ignore all the cool features they built above, turning the game into a dreadful auto-grind. Li,e you don't even need to use skills, let alone combos, etc... just hold x for basic attack. That's it. For hours and hours.

The story is all about holding hands with the various stock footage anime characters to create these helper characters. There are scenes with them all that don't do anything particularly well other than age you a few minutes.
