http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/10/22/introducing-volume-coda-free-expansion-for-playstation-vr/

Volume is getting a free expansion next year that adds 30 new levels featuring a new main character and the whole game will be playable on PlayStation VR whenever that launches. There is also a new Checkpoints update to add new modes and leaderboards to offer more options for how to play the game since the original leaderboards heavily favored speedrunners. The Vita version is still coming and is still Cross Buy, but they want it to be done right and not a rushed, poor port to be out ASAP. To celebrate the new update, Volume is on sale for $13.99 (30% off) until November 4:

I don't think they are so bad on the PSTV, PS3 or PSP... but the Vita has moved up the ranks as my preferred platform for PS1 games.
I would own a 3DS if Nintendo made SNES games available through the Virtual Console. That I can't play Super Mario World on 3DS is bogus.

it let me download hungry horde for free and i don't recall ever getting it from plus or having it in my download list.
It was a PS+ free game (I think it was one of the free PS+ games for the month when it was first released, actually)...so maybe you added it back then and forgot about it.

Is anyone else having an issue checking out and purchasing with a credit/debit card? I've attempted purchasing for about a week and no luck. All of my card info is entered correctly too.

When myself and others posted about this issue on the @AskPlayStation Twitter support page, their answer is simply to buy PSN cards... wth?

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/wishlist

The webstore now has wishlist support on game pages and the listings, so you can better track any updates on pricing changes. It also shows quick links to download the demo. You can also track Movies and TV Shows in the same way.
Ahem:

Now to go through the entirety of PSN offerings.

Is the only way to keep a game from auto updating to disconnect the PS4 from the internet still?
You should be able to turn off automatic application updates in Settings > System > Automatic Downloads and Uploads > Application Update Files.

I actually was wondering about that too. I hate that the damn thing always auto updates when i dont want it to. Same thing with PSN updates. I like to wait a few days to make sure there are no major problems before updating. Are you sure that works Alpha? I thought that only did stuff when you had the auto stuff already on (doing it in sleep mode, ect) I'll take another look at those settings but pretty sure i had all that stuff turned off

Has anyone played the Oregon Trail Zombie game that is on sale this week? Any good?
I wanted to like it but i couldn't The controls for the 'hunting' parts were friggin horrible. Really brought the whole game down. I'm not sure if they ever fixed them for the console version though

That's my understanding as well and that it will still attempt to do so when the system's on or you go to play it.

No idea if these AC Syndicate add-ons are supposed to be FREE, but they are.

Special for slidecage as per IGN....

"Currently, first-party studios have no titles in development for PS Vita," he said. "Since third-parties are working very hard on PS Vita, SCE’s own strategy is to focus on PS4, which is a new platform.

“At the beginning the PS Vita did not resonate with age targets under 20, but now the situation is changing and the popularity with younger demographics is increasing. Minecraft: PS Vita Edition has provided a boost.

"In addition to that, a variety of third party  games is also planned for the future, and in order to further accelerate that flow, we decided to release new colors for the PS Vita this fall.”

I'm glad there will be new colors for the Vita.  I'm sure some programmer will be inspired to make a AAA game now that it will come in chartreuse.  I also like the "situation is changing but eh, fuck it, we're done"

Housemarque has five announcements for next week, one for each business day with Paris Game Week and their 20th anniversary happening next week. I'm guessing one will probably be whatever they've been working on with Eugene Jarvis and another should concern Alienation.
Please be a Resogun/Defender Hybrid with Mr. Jarvis and Alienation looks sick!!

Finished Life is Strange Episode 5 and the platinum. Posting my thoughts below.

[customspoiler='Second Chance']I had an inkling that this would be a Butterfly Effect ending with the way that Max's attempt to solve the William problem ending catastrophically in the other direction with Chloe's accident and that she was wearing the black butterfly shirt during the whole time she's trying to escape from the Dark Room. The whole nightmare sequence seemed to be a straight up nod to Remember Me's memory sequences in a way. That stealth sequence being particularly cool way to play with the weird aspects of each character's personalities as Max's mind tries frantically to piece together the many fragments of the various realities she has been through as she also tries to find the figurative light at the end of the tunnel.

I liked that it went like a crazy Groundhog Day-style montage after that (red deer skull shirt for Max) throughout much of that episode as Max tries to figure out the perfect combo of actions to get the perfect result before realizing that it was an impossibility and that fate/destiny wasn't something to be toyed with. I almost thought that Max had to die to set things right again, but that montage afterwards made it clear that Chloe was the linchpin in this chain of events. Chloe had to die in some way for things to work out with this power and destiny, whether through the assisted suicide in Episode 4, murder by murder, death by the tornado/waterspout, or sacrifice. There are definitely plenty of flaws and potential plot holes to the whole series, but I enjoyed how they tried to tie it all together as best as they could into a really cool series. I also enjoyed that the series was kind of their nod to American media in a way that Kojima and Swery have done with their games, as there are plenty of ties to Twin Peaks, Back to the Future, Thelma and Louise, Groundhog Day, and plenty of others.

I actually don't want a direct sequel to this at all. Dontnod has proven that they're pretty good at making games with interesting premises with enough charm and personality to help make up for their weaknesses and I'd like them to try something new. It can be a new series based on something new, but I'm cool with letting these characters go and seeing something new out of this studio.[/customspoiler]

I'm surprised that the Platinum only has a ~5% unlock percentage considering it's really easy.

Same could be said for Tales from the Borderlands. Don't know about the Game of Thrones iteration or Walking Dead S1, but this is the first Telltale game with a platinum in which all you had to do is play the episodes.

Which has the better/enjoyable narrative? Tales from the Borderlands or Life is Strange? Played tales episode 1 and really enjoyed it as I do with most of the Telltale games, but Ive been hearing nothing but good things from Life is Strange aswell. Im looking for a simple, narrative game that I can play inbetween Black Ops and Fallout.

I haven't played Tales from the Borderlands, though I just got a code and will probably review the entire series since we missed that whole thing. I would liken Life is Strange to The Walking Dead Season One for me as both had a sense of wonder about the world they were in for different reasons obviously and that I got invested in the characters quite a bit to help drive the story along.

Thanks, Frisky. This one looked interesting, though for me at a cheaper price. Since I'm trying to find stuff for the get $15 back promo, this helps since it'll be Vita cross buy and free content update in the futre.

Missed Frisky's post on this one. I would be into it at that price if I'm going all the way to $100 but right now I'm at all of $30 and I don't see next week's sale necessarily having $50+ worth of stuff I would want to buy.

Picked up Castlevania Harmony of Despair and GrimGrimoire for $5.25.

It's nice that PS3 HoD includes Chapter 7, Julius, and Yoko as part of the base package while on 360 these were additional purchases.

Been an ongoing issue they have dropped mobile payments and paypal no longer works for a lot of people....
I guess I'll just start buying PSN digital codes through Amazon. Weird how they added wishlists only to screw up payment options.

It's been like that for a couple months at least. I just get them through Amazon since I save a penny and I'm doing round amounts anyway.

I have Castlevania and Manhunt 2. Both are pretty solid. Some might argue that the main draw of the Dracula X Chronicles is the unlockable Symphony of the Night, but the remake of Rondo of Blood is a pretty solid old-school Castlevania title...and the original version is unlockable, as well.

I never finished Manhunt 2, but I got it during one of the flash sales and played for a while, and it's pretty fun. Sort of a stealth game with a cool "what's going on? what's true/real and what's not?" type story. Maybe slightly Hitman-ish except you're the one being hunted, and you're kind of hiding from enemies as they look for you and sneaking up and taking out enemies before they spot you and take you out.

Whistleblower is short and sweet. I got a couple of playthroughs out of it, one normal and one collectible run (can't be bothered with those Insane mode trophies). The campaign intersects occasionally with the original game and the ending is a lot better.

No man, I want a real Defender sequel or remake or whatever with Jarvis magic.
But yeah, Robotron would be cool.
Or better yet, Smash TV

That's good to know. I would double dip (have on :360:) but saving some fundage for Yakuza 5 pre-order.

They were talking about it on ps i love you podcast looks awesome.

So I was looking through some of the PSN deals this week and saw some I want to buy.
"This Price is only available from 10/20/15 10:00 am to 10/27/2015 12:00 pm"

I have a 20% off code and would preferably like to use it on the most games,to maximize the discount.
WWE 2k16 releases on 10/27 when the psn deals expire. I have until 12 pm on the 27 to buy games.

So will the game be available to buy automatically at midnight on the 27th or will I have to wait until sony updates the store? Don't want to miss out on the deals, but also not overpay when I can play less with coupon.

The 20% coupon can't be used on pre-orders, so i want to know if I will have enough time to buy:
So do pre-order convert to buy/add to cart right on release date?

I like the tank controls in re2, it makes it tricky to dodge zombies. I'll assume that with an updated analog control the zombies would be way less threatening when running away from them.
It's harder to turn with an analog stick - dpad all the way for more control over precise movements.

I was surprised that the PSN version is different from XBLA. Googling it just now I found that it also has local multiplayer while the XBLA version doesn't.
Wow, those are significant upgrades. That be alot of fun with some couch co-op. Im gonna hold off till the last minute just in case there is a sale on HOD DLC on the :360:. Ive got the extra levels but no extra characters.

got a save $10 if you spend $60 via Paypal email via paypal for the 'playstation store' which i assume is PSN.

that would stack with the current spend $100 sale... but I don't think I want to blow $100, even if i did get $25 back.   But who knows, maybe week two will convince me.

If that were me id definitely take advantage of that. Im almost at the halfway mark.

I also like the "situation is changing but eh, fuck it, we're done"
heard it from a good source that Vita will become more of a indie system by spring 2016. Games will still come out but 90% will be from small companies that look like tablet games. Rumor is starting in Jan or march Sony will flip the PSN to more PS3/4 games and all vita games will be indie games no more cart games released... though not sure how much more they even have on Vita they could put out

The extra characters are great! I have all dlc on 360 and played a ton.

Imho order of dlc awesomeness:

dlc characters: Richter > Julius (free for ps3) > Maria > Fuma > Simon > Yoko (free for ps3)

dlc chapters: 10 > 11 > 7 (free for ps3) > 9 > 8

For $3.75 I grabbed the ps3 base game now and will pick up the dlc later if it goes on sale.
