Hey, is Yakuza 5 still supposed to come out this month or is it now just kind of whenever? I need to spend around $20 for that promo and I've been meaning to pre-order it, but don't really have to if it's going to be awhile until it comes out. I can't wait for Yakuza. Well I can, but I don't want to. I really can't think of anything else besides cheap odds and ends otherwise, Hmm...

There's no release date. It's just Fall 2015 at the moment.

Well dammit. Thanks, Frisky! I guess it's pointless DLC and themes then. Maybe I'll just grab Yakuza anyways, I guess as long as it does come out, I'm not really losing anything.

Any impressions on Curses n Chaos? I love tribute games, but I always feel their games lack a snappy arcadey feel for some reason.
Curse and Chaos is exactly what it says on the tin. Room based punch em up. Really, jumpkick em up. Hits are just one-offs in a way that is hard to describe but certainly more akin to an imagined room-based arcade game rather than any beat-em-up. Jumpkicks do double damage and are far easier to control than almost any other attack. Enemies drop one-off items that sometimes help but usually are too precise and weak to do much good, apart from healing of course.

Each level is a decently long but not too long arena capped off by a boss, so each is perfectly replayable as a score-chasing cash grinding minigame, each with different flavors of enemy variety and ever increasing difficulty. Bosses are almost all quite good but one or two are almost guaranteed to kill you the first time until you learn their patterns. There are no checkpoints so you have to do the level again but you keep your grindbux. There is no stat system so you can't become stronger or grind. Cash just feeds the "crafting" system which is an obtuse and fiddly way of saying "collect lots of cash, buy items, fuse items over and over and over slowly iterating up and down our craft tree over and over until you craft the elixir of life for the good ending." Items are the same one-off things in stages and you can't hold more than one of them at a time so there's no real point to stockpiling them except to feed this grind. There are no game changers.

Solid graphics, solid music, lots of ear and eye candy. Fun game. Can't speak for if the elixir of life grind pads the game as I haven't beaten it but I saw a speedrunner clear the game with very few repeats except for a specific farm or two that did not take long.

Worth noting: It's also on Steam and really is at the niche where I would count it as a bundle target, but it's a solid fun game no matter where you buy

That ubi sale was so bad I got cancer, but then I saw it had Tetris Ultimate for super cheap and I got better. Tetris Ultimate is a perfect way to cap off the 100bux.

I thought I had until 3 PM to get last weeks deals, otherwise might have gotten Murdered Soul Suspect, Conception 2, few others.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! You preordered two games at full msrp, and you plan on playing them? Delete your CAG account.
Wait, wait... Give him a chance to explain. There's always the possibility that he could be marathoning them both to sell back to a store while the trade in value is high and there's some sort of trade in bonus and then rebuy down the line when they drop below $20.

Thinking about Tetris. Seemed to have owned it in some form on every system since the black and white game boy. Anyone care to warn me off at that price?

That still means he's planning on actually playing the games. We don't do that here.

You were saved by the bell on Conception 2, at least. You'd be better off buying something full price for that $10.

I thought he bought them digital.
Oh, right...that would make sense, being the psn forum and all. I'm still not used to the idea (or point) of preordering digital games, so when I saw that he preordered, my brain immediately thought physical. If that's the case, you're right. Digital games are supposed to end up in your download list or taking up space on your HD. CAG rule book section 7 paragraph C.

if you extend your PS+, it's like paying $35 PSN credit for it, if you're already at $60
Lol already set on Plus till like next August or September. Hard justifying a retail game when everything can be gotten on sale or with GCU. And the only digital-only game I can think of is that new Saint Seiya game for PS4

Crap.  Just got notification my PS+ runs out in 7 days.

I remember when I had -years- left thanks to that Target price mistake.  And now... running on empty.

So CAG, I need advice.

I've spent $40 since the 6th.  So I could pay full price for a year... throw on a cheap game or two.... and qualify for the $100/15 if I spend tonight.

OR.... I can use an amazon code for 1year I got last time they had a sale (for $30 or so?).  I was saving that for some sort of bonus time offer.

If I use the code, that gives me another year to wait for a sale (say, black friday or whatever). If I spend now, I get $15 back.

thoughts?

OK so I have a bit of a dilemma. I've already spent $30.50 and I've settled on other stuff to get me to $94.47. Now the problem is that I was going to get the two $4 Rocket League DLCs to put me over but that's going to put me $1.51 over my current balance and PSN cards in $10 increments meaning I would have to throw an extra $10 in to my account. Not a big deal since I'll spend it eventually but would rather not if I don't have to. So the question becomes is there anything really good for $6?

Had 60$ all month waiting for some sale to come to make me hit 100$, and nothing happened.......not sure what to do now.
Well the way I'm looking at it is that if I would have been spending $70 already at some point that I may as well spend another $15 and get something at a discount.

Has anyone played Ubi's version of Boggle? I used to play the Family Game Night version relentlessly until they shut the servers down like four years ago, and I've been itching for a good digital version of Boggle ever since.

Might bite on Amnesia: Memories. Apparently I'm in the minority who doesn't have to mentally implant myself into the main character to enjoy something, so playing a romance about a girl doesn't bother me.

I want to get Steins Gate, but I plan to get it physical.

has anyone played toy soldier war chest?  feedback?  If i get that, that'll put me at 60... so i might as well get the ps+ resub online.  thoughts?

I'm waiting because I feel like it will go cheaper and it wasn't received very well. The DLC armies especially, which to me are the main draw, are roundly criticized as being just reskinned generic units instead of taking advantage of the licensing. So as a fan of the series I'll wait until it's cheap enough that those things won't bother me as much when I do pick it up.

actually, the one 'mainstream' review I [just] read actually recommended the dlc.

from Destructoid:

http://www.destructoid.com/review-toy-soldiers-war-chest-302923.phtml

"The good news is that these guest stars are worth it; they look and feel differently enough compared to the vanilla forces, complete with their own signature looks and sound effects. They also play in a unique way, as He-Man and Ezio focus on melee damage, and the G.I. Joe duo are ranged."

Which leaves me totally debating if I should get it or not. I remember seeing video of it at release and thinking it looks fun, but since this is a $20 purchase that will escalate to $70 due to ps+ / 100/15 deal... it's a harder sell.

Go figure.  I don't read Destructoid so I can't really comment on their take.  I want the game and DLC but I think the whole package will be $15 or less eventually.

Edit- Reading that I may have it backwards and it was the vanilla armies that everyone felt were too much the same and just reskinned.

If it's going to put you over the top that definitely helps but then you've got to find another $30 to spend.

OK my $100 is spent and I feel slightly less remorse than I expected.  My haul was:

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture $8

Ys Seven $6

ZHP $3

Lunar Silver Star Harmony $6

MotorStorm Apocalypse $2.25

htoLNiQ $5.25

Driveclub + Season Pass $19.99

Volume $13.99

Grandia $5.99

Trails in the Sky SC $29.99

Total $100.46 and at least another 200 hours of JRPG added to my backlog. :oldman:

Looking at it as already having bought the stuff from the flash sale and that I was going to buy Driveclub eventually and liked the price on Volume so that was putting me at about $65 anyway.  Figuring Trails SC is likely to go on sale about as often as FC (so like twice in five years) and that it's the same as getting it now for $15 off.

Yeah, before I reviewed it I wondered if I could even get into it. It ended up not being an issue, but I did like making jokes to my wife about me playing a game where I'm going to date dudes. It's a pretty fun visual novel though, and each story has similar characters, but very different scenarios. (On a side note, Norn9 is pretty fun too)

Now review Hatoful Boyfriend so you can date pigeon boys.

Hakuoki didn't seem bad from what I played of it. I need to get back to that and Tears to Tiara.

And PSN webstore seems to be down.

The $100 thing is over in 50 minutes right?    Almost convinced to pull the trigger on ps+ + toy soldiers to get me over $100.

I grabbed them on the PC web store (which I do every month since I don't have a ps4 but want to grab the ps+ games for it). Not sure why they aren't showing as purchased on the web store and aren't showing up in my download list in the web store...but they're showing up in my download list on my ps3 and vita and show up as purchased in the ps store on both systems.

So it looks like everything is cool and I have them and it's just a PC web store glitch (and if not, I have my receipt from the store proving I grabbed them, so I can argue it later). Really bizarre though considering my download list on the web store is different from my download list under my account on my ps3 and vita.

And ya...the ps3 store has been a mess since...well...since they revised it...but it's definitely gotten worse. It seems like every other time I try to buy and download something lately, it crashes to the XMB.

Edit: Oh, and for the trophy thing, I think the delete 0% trophies option was only introduced on the ps4 through a firmware update (I think on the ps4, you can go to trophies, select the game you want to delete the trophies for, hit options, and select "delete"). On the ps3, you can hide them by doing this: go to your trophy list, select the game, push triangle, select "privacy settings", and uncheck "show trophies for this game".
Have to do it through the trophies menu on the PS4 I believe.
Hmm so theres no way to actually delete them from the PS3? Thats where i have the majority of them. I dont think i have any 0 trophies for PS4. The hide thing seems ok but im guessing that doesn't cut down the long ass sync time

Got a weird email from Sony that my PS+ was set to auto renew. I know I had turned that "feature" off before and while I intend on renewing with a pre-paid card before it comes due, I was shocked to see it say it was enabled. Turns out that EVERY SINGLE TIME you renew PS+ using any method of payment it turns this "Feature" back on. So heads up. It won't change the automatic wallet funding setting, but it will pull money from your account if you don't go in every time you renew and turn this back off.

To turn it off, I could have done it from a PS3 or PS4 but I opted for the PC option. Hit the url provided (which is just the actual account page where you can add prepaid cards and stuff) and then hit the media tab and scrolled through the list in reverse to the PS+ subscription. Opened it, expanded one section and then unchecked the auto renew.

So heads up. Now it makes sense why some folks were complaining in the past about auto renewal still happening. Any subscription renewal on PS+ turns this auto renew button back on.

Ultimately it doesn't affect me right now... I see no reason why I'll not renew. But for others it may be an issue if they are letting it expire to renew the next month to try and "extend" the service those extra weeks while still getting all the PS+ games.
WTF thats really jacked up. I guess i dont have to worry since i got PS+ through 2026 but thats still really lame of them

Ohhh neat, i had wanted to give this a shot. I love their art style lets see if the games any good

https://twitter.com/PlayStation/status/661671705492873216
... weird. Like some other people mentioned i didn't think this was an issue. I still use my old Breath of Fire avatars on the PS4

Now I see that Amazon now sells $75 codes so Grandia or Rocket League DLC?
Was gonna say Grandia but looking at your later post looks like you got it =D

It shows all trophies regardless of platform whenever you look at them on any system. PS4 is just the only one with a delete feature.

Yep, opted for Grandia.

To this whole 'turns automatic funding back on' debate.

I just added PS+ to my cart [well, really, it's a subscribe button that takes you directly to the order page], and you get a huge message plastered above the item telling you that automatic funding will be turned on.

Curious, I then entered my code I already own -- and once again, BRIGHT RED, you get a huge message telling you that automated funding will be turned on:

It reads:

"When you subscribe to this service, [Automatic Funding] will be set to [On]. If your wallet does not have enough funds when an automatic subscription renewal is due, it will be automatically funded from the credit card on record to cover the renewal cost (at least the minimum funding amount will be added). For details, refer to the Terms of Service and User Agreement. You can change the [Automatic Funding] setting at any time, in [Wallet] under [Account Management] after the purchase is complete."

I mean, people act like it's some sort of stealth move... but it's a gigantic block of red text with a huge red bar with exclamation point next to it.   Hard not to notice.

Having just played operation Raccoon City in a single sitting, why was the actual real campaign hidden behind DLC.

Seriously, the game has a 2nd campaign which you buy via DLC and it's actually much better than the original campaign. It has urgency, depth, and variety. Not to mention a final boss and some hectic moments.

I just added PS+ to my cart [well, really, it's a subscribe button that takes you directly to the order page], and you get a huge message plastered above the item telling you that automatic funding will be turned on.
That's clearly a new thing though and has happened since some people have reupped. I know for a fact that there was no such warning when I used a card last time around and it didn't set me to auto renew last time I expired. So it really seems like this is something that they've done in the last few months (and likely why they're now sending out emails to people ahead of time after folks likely complaining). That's what's likely not setting right with most of us.

I need to try that demo, really looks like something I would enjoy.  Hopefully the guest characters you mentioned are interpreted in the game's style since I don't like when they're in a drastically different style and just seem too out of place to use.

I preordered it for the promotion but after the charge went through, it just said that it will be available for download before 12-31-15. Way to nail down a date, Sega.
