Yep, opted for Grandia.[/quote]If you have the PlayStation app you can delete 0% games there.

arkham knight $50? i think I'll wait for a cheaper digital version? it should drop to $30 by black friday digitally right? since its bundled with ps4 consoles...

Crap. Just got notification my PS+ runs out in 7 days.

I remember when I had -years- left thanks to that Target price mistake. And now... running on empty.

So CAG, I need advice.

I've spent $40 since the 6th. So I could pay full price for a year... throw on a cheap game or two.... and qualify for the $100/15 if I spend tonight.

OR.... I can use an amazon code for 1year I got last time they had a sale (for $30 or so?). I was saving that for some sort of bonus time offer.

If I use the code, that gives me another year to wait for a sale (say, black friday or whatever). If I spend now, I get $15 back.

thoughts?
I don't think I've seen PS+ codes for $30 since before last Black Friday. $40 is probably the best you'll see, outside of bundled with a system.

Good to know.

Remember when everyone was all "Oh I'm only going to buy one because they'll be $30 every year now" and laughed at me for winding up with five? Who's laughing now!?

affa, just redeem the code you already purchased.   It always makes me a bit nervous sitting on codes.

...

Played some Dragon Fin Soup on vita.  Reading up on it, I just wanted to check it out.  Anyway, not far into it and the loading gets on my nerves.  Walk out of the house, loading, walk across the small town map to the pub.. try to enter the pub, loading, talk to folks and have to go outside... loading.   I'm not usually very bothered by it in older cd based games since they were pretty constrained with disc access time and memory limits.  But cart based stuff or digital modern stuff shouldn't have so much loading.  I mean, it's worse than a lot of PS1 games on the actual PS1.  Getting to an actual area to explore it's just the one loading segment in and then out.. so not so bad as you could spend a lot of time in that one area... but to load just as much for a basic one room building as an entire map is super inefficient.

As far as gameplay goes I'm not really digging it.  The graphics are a bit too blurry and uninteresting.  I guess it's the art style?  Whatever the case the game doesn't really tell you much, and I read through the entire manual before starting.   The mini map button rarely works, the mini map itself is see through which makes looking at it more complex than it should as the environment you are in could make it look like stuff was on the map that wasn't.  The first actual job mission is marked on the map but then there are several places marked on the map and it's not clear which one is the right one.   The actual exploration and destroying stuff for items to craft with is pretty bland.  I'm sure if I just forge ahead it could get interesting as I got used to the stuff... but the UI is just so super unintuitive and even some of the options for things to do (like giving an item to a statue god thing) are unclear why you even would do that.

Overall, meh.  I'll give it another 15 to 30 min to see if getting past the first job has the game growing on me.  But as is, I can't see many folks actually sticking with this because it's an exercise in tedium.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on Dragon Fin Soup. When I played the little pre-game "dream" (not much of a spoiler), I actually started with high hopes. Initially, the graphics are colorful and whimsical, like the tavern at the center of everything. I didn't understand what was going on in the dream - like WTF were all these random stats I was seeing when moving to certain spaces? I thought maybe it was weapon/armor loot that just couldn't be picked up at that point in the game. Was hoping that more would be explained but even reading the manual, I still don't understand what those stats mean.

But what is worse is when you start playing missions, as you mention, the mini map is crap. So you wonder around hoping to get to something or to a "target" to kill. But the graphics are strangely muted in places and brighter in other areas. Add fog on top of it and it's like really not fun and you may run into an enemy without seeing it or spend 10 minutes just trying to find one.

I had high hopes for it because it reminded me a but of Sproggiwood, a sort of charming and newbie friendly approach to a rogue like. But that game is FAR better. If you have a PC or iOS/Android tablet, spend the money on Sproggiwood over this trash.

----

On another note, I like Magicka 2 much better but my life makes it difficult to plan co-op. Is there any matchmaking, drop-in co-op like Helldivers in it? I haven't messed with it much yet, but it seemed like you had to create a party.

The muting is the dynamic lighting effect. If you clear out an area of trees and stuff then it gets brighter and brighter (even at night, but more so during the day cycle).

Looking over at Steam, that version seems to have a lot of negative reviews. Most pointing out the UI, the inability later in the game to determine what row you are actually on, and so on. I read on a forum after google searching the load times that other versions have a similar issues.

So I think all in all, despite some obvious passion by the devs to make something good... it should have spent more time in development with people actually play testing it.

Ah, guess I need to chop down more trees. ;)

I meant to ask if you were playing on a Vita because loading times are not an issue on PS4. I also looked at the Steam reviews. Some were complaining about the framerate, which I don't think is really an issue as much as them not understanding that it's turn based and what your seeing is each turn.

Regardless, the game just isn't intuitive and is pretty bland, especially compared to Sproggiwood which I think is the game that I find it to be most similar to, but not even close to being as enjoyable.

Yeah, on Vita. It's quickly become my main platform for gaming lately. Oh my poor PS3 and all the tons of games collected for it and the collection of DS/3DS waiting for my time. But Vita is just too convenient.

Just wanted to know who the only person in the world is what owns a Vita but not a PS3/PS4.
That'd be me/my younger brother.

Teslagrad for the Vita will be released digitally on 11/24 (US) and 11/27 (EU), with the physical editions most likely matching that. Confirmed crossbuy for downloaded versions will be activated with the arrival of the Vita version.

http://rain-games.com/teslagrad-for-vita-has-a-release-date/
Cool. Glad they ended up following through after it was a PS+ title.

If I buy the Vita version for free through crossbuy will I own it when my PS+ sub lapses?

Having just played operation Raccoon City in a single sitting, why was the actual real campaign hidden behind DLC.

Seriously, the game has a 2nd campaign which you buy via DLC and it's actually much better than the original campaign. It has urgency, depth, and variety. Not to mention a final boss and some hectic moments.
I... remember playing, or maybe youtubing, the finale of that DLC campaign and remember being impressed by the quality of the boss work, especially for DLC.

I may redownload it and see if that campaign is more playale than the base game if I'm ever bored. (lol no.)

ORC and RE6 are unpleasant jokes but the flickers of quality in both games just make them tragedies.

Thanks for this. I was almost intrigued by the Steem reviews but my shit game sense was tingling.

Sadly my shit game sense is overactive. Steered me away from Streets of Fury EX and that would have been a crime. So I appreciate the second opinion.

I'm still early in Dragon Fin Soup... yet to have a verdict though.  I've played rogulikes with far less polish so none of that bothers me... I didn't mind the lack of understanding of the initial dream because it was pretty clear to me you were OP on purpose and stuff would be explained later [basically, like many game intros].

minimap is odd, but i 'get' it... orange = item of interest, red = enemy, etc.  I had no problem chasing down the skeletons in mission 1.

Not sold on it yet, but don't hate it either.  I'll know more after another hour or two sunk into it.  But it's clearly a roguelike and plays like one, so anyone not into them isn't suddenly going to love it.  Permadeath is optional, though [on for me].

My biggest problem so far was the first thing you're asked to do is go to the pub, and I spent 5 or 10 minutes searching the town for the pub.  I -hate- searching towns.   but I can hardly criticize dfs soup for that when most jrpgs do the same thing and i forgive [most of] them for it.

The pub wasn't hard for me to find but when you start your first real quest, that's when I was a little annoyed at running around the map just trying to find the zombies. The visuals leave a bit to be desired as far as clarity of what you're looking for.

But nightc1's suggestion to start chopping away at bushes to brighten up things may help.

Going to give it another try tonight.

I've played plenty of roguelikes myself. And this seems to be on the more casual side of the spectrum (at least that seems to be what it's going for). So that aspect doesn't bother me. I just think it's not quite there in terms of gameplay.

I'll give it some more time.

My roommate was laughing at just before "Spider Tyrant" you have to fight 3-4 Mr. X tyrants at the same time...

I found it a fun, flawed experience like you said the flicker of quality in both shows what they could have been.

Now I am playing RE6 >_>

I'm so sorry.

I don't believe what anyone says about comparing the campaigns. They're all trash for more or less the same reason except for Leon's first level which is just so incredibly slow and tedious.

Still, Mercenaries is fun. Fun enough that I must have put 60-80 hours in the game across all platforms to FINALLY figure out it sucks. That's a wildly successful effort to fool me that long.

Got an email from Sony for my birthday with some paper cut out Playstation Mascots like Drake and Kratos. Kind of neat.

Really tempting price for AC Chronicles China. I just feel like it would be a PS Plus game eventually. Since Far Cry classic and Blood Dragon are on sale you would think they would put the other ones on sale too.

Okay, one more time concerning this PS Mobile situation:

"On March 11, 2015, SCE notified users that they must activate their PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita)/PlayStation®TV (PS TV) systems in order to continue playing their PlayStation®Mobile (PSM) content after the termination of the service. However, it has become apparent that even if users activate their devices by following the notified procedure, their devices may become deactivated in certain cases.

In response to the above, we have set a new device activation method and implementation period. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause, but we ask users to perform device activation by following the instructions below.

Device activation procedure*1:

• Users must update their PS Vita/PS TV systems*2 to the latest system software (version 3.55 and beyond), be connected online, and launch their purchased PSM content between October 13, 2015 and February 29, 2016. Activation will be completed just by launching the content once*3.

*1 Even after users complete the above procedure, if they swap their PS Vita memory cards or backup/restore their PS Vita/PS TV data, they must connect to the network the first time they are accessing PSM content.
*2 Up to three compatible devices (PS Vita, PlayStation®Certified devices) can be activated.
*3 If users deactivate their devices after February 29, 2016, they will no longer be able to play their purchased PSM content on the deactivated devices.

Sincerely,
The PlayStation Team"

I didn't fully understand this because of how it was worded, so I did some experimenting on my own. Normally when you switch out a memory card then your PS Mobile gets deactivated. According to the above quote, you should only need to go online to reactivate PSM one time for each memory card you have.

I took out memory card A and put in B; the PS Mobile games did not work until I went online again. I put memory card A back in, and the same thing happened with the PSM games on that card. Then I went back to card B again.. and the games still would NOT work until I went online again.

I assumed that they were trying to permanently activate PSM to avoid anyone losing their games forever. But as of right now that's still a very real problem. It seems like the only thing they're doing right now is temporarily giving a way to reactivate PSM, but that February 29 date leads me to believe that this will not be an option forever. They have fixed absolutely nothing.

The irony here is... I literally passed out/fell asleep while doing Leon's first mission.

I was playing around 7... got to the end of the mission and completed it.. woke up at 10.

RE6's first level has NOTHING on TPP's laborious unending awful prologue, and since RE6's Leon opening and first level are staggeringly bad, that's saying a lot.

I would be surprised if you were the only one to fall asleep at that trash.

My roommate was laughing at just before "Spider Tyrant" you have to fight 3-4 Mr. X tyrants at the same time...

I found it a fun, flawed experience like you said the flicker of quality in both shows what they could have been.
I got a good laugh when, in a room with no enemies at all, one of my AI teammates casually walked right through a pile of burning rubble, caught on fire, and started running around screaming. Good times...lol

Then you have to play it again for the 2nd ending!

I semi enjoyed RE6, except Chris' campaign.

It shows all trophies regardless of platform whenever you look at them on any system. PS4 is just the only one with a delete feature.

Yep, opted for Grandia.
Yea so i guess theres just no way at all to delete 0% trophies on ps3? I tried that hide option but it did nothing. Its really annoying seeing them all on my list

Made a video of the Indivisible prototype demo on PS4:

Hmm so if they dont make their goal the game wont be made? I need to give this a shot tomorrow. I liked the art style a lot. I've never used indiegogo. If i pledge and it fails i dont lose any money right? I dont think they're going to make it unfortunately =(

Well thats fucking lame.

Played a little more Dragon Fin Soup last night.  I get now why there were so many complains on the Steam version about not being able to really see what grid you are on and how that affects things.  Just lining up with a horizontal facing door takes skill.  Trying to get through a forest where destruction deducts money from your purse is needlessly tedious due in large part to this perspective.   Still, the actual game has some charm but it's sloppy at the same time, like a fan made game.   Example of sloppiness, I got this one mission to go catch some fish but there's no fishing pole yet for me, so I'm just stuck with that mission which honestly I don't think should even be offered before the player has the required gear.  Thankfully it was just a side mission and not a main story paid job mission so I could still do other things while I wait for either the right gear to show up or to figure out the crazy crafting mechanic (which without a recipe, seems like more tedium).   I'm not sure if I'm ready to just throw in the towel.  I feel like there could be something special here if I just dig this hole a little deeper.

...

Looking through the sales this week, my money is safe.  I already have Child of Light in physical form for Vita ... but if I didn't that would have easily gotten my $5.

Side note, the next Steamworld game ... Steamworld Heist, is looking really good.  I can definitely see buying that at launch and playing it at launch... especially if there's a PS+ discount.   They should be getting close to setting a release date soon as the game is on track to be out this year.   I LOVED Steamworld Dig (finished it on Vita).

I just recently got a PS4, does anyone know any place that is running a decent price on the PS+ subscription? I know I can normally find XBL cards discounted pretty regularly but I don't know of any for PS+. Any recommendations would be great.

Unlike XBL, PS+ rarely goes on sale. Your best current bet is to wait for black friday to see if anyone has a special. If you need it before then pay the price, it is worth it. On a side note, there are deals out there not specific to PS+ where you can get credit or gift cards or whatever and use that towards PS+... but those you'll have to dig through the site for or figure out on your own. Similarly if you are a Pro or regular Gamestop shopper and have bought a lot of stuff then the points add up and can be redeemed for PSN credit or coupons off stuff. So that is an option. But to my knowledge there are no specific PS+ deals going on and we still may have a week or so before the Black Friday ads are known to see if there is an option that way.
