I dunno.... I bet I can find some vita titles you maybe lacking :p
There are many I'd probably buy if cheap enough but there isn't much left that I actually want or crave. I already own 1/4 of all the physically released games (talking USA library) for Vita and have a strong digital library of great indie games, PS1, PSP, Minis and retail Vita games to play. Burnout Legends (PSP) and SAO LS are my actual wants... though I'm not wanting either enough to buy right this minute. Most of what I'm buying now is out of general curiosity rather that feeling like there are holes in my collection of games that actually would fit my interests.

Got my 15bux in sonybux sent to a message on my account. No problem.

Super Star Wars is a relic. Super Star Wars, Super ESB, Super RotJ, and Indiana Jones's Greatest Adventures were all from the same studio, obviously. They have such a unique style of platforming that you will never see outside that era with gamey ridiculousness, lots of mode 7 minigames, huge elaborate branching path levels, and such a love of chaos but with movement that has an adorable, inoffensive stiffness to it... it's really hard to describe but their signature style is unmistakable. I didn't even know the Indy game was made by the same folks before I played it but it was incredibly obvious from the first level. As a history lesson, I think it's worth dabbling with.

Except... you get all of them and the Indy game on Wii VC on the Wii/U with no fuss. And Super Star Wars was rough as hell. I could barely play it after playing the far superior sequels.

If I were giving you tactical advice, I would say skip SSW and wait for Super ESB or Super RotJ. They're pretty much committed to delivering all three by now. ESB is a marked improvement but it is intensely hard. RotJ is the best (Except for the Indy game, it's a toss-up there.) but it is far, far easier. The Vader boss in RotJ is lifted straight from ESB but with a few tweaks to make him much, much easier to fight.

And as far as P4G goes, yes, you should buy it at that price. It's very good. I hate JRPGs and I loved it. 90% of the game is time management/who do I talk to in what order to optimize my friendship gains with like 10% dungeon crawling (So basically it's Catherine with the puzzling replaced with JRPG and cut by about 80%.). Atlus's worldcraft and writing here is simply phenomenal and there's more humanity in the vignettes in this game (Save for one or two weaker stories) than there is in any ten other moe moe waifu crap games.

Ho-Lee-fuck!
The way you usually talk about the Persona games, I would have never expected such a glowing review from you. Color me surprised. (I whole heartedly agree of course.)

How is DRIVECLUB? Has it improved much since launch? Barring any improvement, is it worth it for $15?
I didn't get DriveClub at launch, but I can tell you that I am not experiencing any problems whatsoever. They updated the game a lot to alleviate them and added some free DLC. I suggest you get the game and the season pass for $5 more if you have PS+. You will definitely get your money's worth.

As for the list of what might be the sale this year (from random site x)... it's much better than the PSN Black Friday Sale last year which was a much shorter list and had no vita games. Still if that is the list, I'm safe for another week of spending on the PSN Store barring some good Tuesday week long sale.

Then again really my game collection (physical & digital) is nearly to the point to where I own most of what I want and am not as tempted by some of the sales on games I'm just not that into.
That site is wrong. The games they posted are what was in Europe's BF sale last year.

I criticize flaws of everything, including games I love. NOLF1, Thief 2, Sneakan Cell Chaos Theory, Hitmans Blood Money, Streets of Fury EX, Double Dragon Advance etc etc, my list of best evers goes on and I could talk your ear off on dumb crap in each and every one of those. I could rattle off weaknesses of P4G all day (And it's 80 fricken hours of course it has a few.) but it is still superlative in the realm of vidya writing slice of life, how real people behave and real people's problems, but still "better than real life" in a romantic way, type stuff, while making the time management gamey aspect of it work surprisingly well.

I mean, there's a fricken reason we've had THREE spin-off games with this cast and heaping piles of fan service about them. People adore the Yasogami High team and with good reason, not just because they're goofy waifus with big bouncy boobies. (I love those, naturally but P4G reaches past the wang and nutbladder and hits the heart.)

Finally got my $15 promo code after fighting with Sony CS in live chat because their system they use to automatically check for qualifiers for those sorts of promos thinks nothing I purchase during the promo period are actually tied to my account. If I fight with them long enough, the system they use to double check eventually confirms the purchases I reported to them as being real so they know I'm not lying to them, which is tiring since this is the second time I've had to do this.

30 minutes in: "It seems I found them."
40 minutes in: "at the beginning, I was unable to find those purchases believe it was not my intention about this, it was just a delay with our system."

A 30 minute delay is a hell of a delay. No wonder people have the issues they do. If you didn't receive your promo code by now, I'd suggest contacting CS, probably via live chat to avoid as much actual human contact as possible, and get them on the ball right away.
Brutal. My code was emailed to me around 3:30pm PST yesrteday. Luckily, have never had a problem with Sony in this regard.

In fact, you got me going, let me shitpost on games I love:

Max Payne 2: Replay this game and then tell me one level that was fun of like the 25 or so in the game. Okay, scratch return to Vlad's nightclub and the final two levels, then try to answer that. Yeah, you can't. What the hell is with this shitty level design?

Monkey Island 2: Bring me the head of the man who thought that ending was acceptable. Yes, let's upend our universe and go so DEEP just so we can throw in a Star Wars reference where one is not necessary. Heaven forbid we have a satisfying ending that fits the story going into it. Full Throttle was better strictly because it roared to a finish instead of that awful ending. CMI moved heaven and earth to fix that awful-ass ending and somehow managed to make a clever joke out of it but that was a miracle.

Speaking of which:

CMI: "My head is foggy?" Seriously? That's your clue for the next to last puzzle, said only once, while the player is still sucking in the situation? Who on earth is going to sit there and think "Oh I have to make the hangover remedy to turn back into an adult from LeChuck's evil voodoo curse." Yeah, the play on words was clever but not worth the retarded logic.

Dishonored: Where are the good levels? Oh they're in the DLC lol. Also why make a stealth game with a better combat system than most combat games. Wait, Thief's swordplay did that too until these guys made Dark Messiah and ripped it off wholesale. Speaking of which...

Dark Messiah: Yeah, sure, kicks are overpowered, but only because everyone has so much health that there's no damn good way to kill anything without abusing kick physics and coup de gras. Heaven forbid you have to fight an orc in a situation where there is nothing to trigger kick physics. Also I have replayed this game a stupid number of times despite me being an arachnophobe and there being a huge level where you are mobbed by swarms of giant spiders and having to fight a giant spider boss. And seriously? I can just activate adrenalin at the final boss and kill him in one hit? Double adrenalin to kill both phases of the final boss in two hits? Do you guys not understand the point of a boss?

Castle Shikigami 3: What is the point of Kagachi except to say "hope you saved some bombs for me lol"

Pikmin 3: I could have set my controller down and eaten dinner several times in this game and I would not have come close to losing anything that would have prevented me from the end of the game. And the post-game? Optimization "puzzles" which are mostly trial and error until you find the route. Yay. STILL not as annoying as Pikmin 2's interminable dungeons though.

I'm assuming characters to use in Disgaea 5.

not sure if true, read somewhere their was a bug in the data book that would not let you get 100% since it would not register prinny skills. so they made these as a work around with unique evil too fix that. also heard their good for early game but worthless end game.
Weird.. so they're just... special prinnys? Are they good/do they look unique? I was thinking of making a single good prinny in the game and naming it Gunther (Adventure time, heh) Wonder if one of these would be the ones to lvl up

Atlus announced the $79.99 Storybook Edition for the Odin Sphere remake on PS4:

http://atlus.com/osl/purchase.html

The other versions only get a softcover version of the art book with pre-orders.
Nice. Is this a sequal or just a remake? I never did play the original though i own it. Locking in a pre order here until i can get one at BBY i guess. I better snag a vita and PS3 copy too i guess. Do all places get the artbook for vanilla version? Because i dont see it listed on the amazon site for ps3 and vita version

I'd like to add that I cannot recommend Until Dawn to anyone who doesn't think the concept of a Heavy Rain-esque QTE CYOA story game without the complete disrespect Heavy Rain shows the genre and the player themed around teen horror movies sounds entertaining.

So, in other words, if you think the concept sounds cool, it is cool. If you are not sold on the idea of the game, I cannot offer you anything to convince. It does not remake the genre. It does not wow you with anything so clever as to transcend the genre (To me, these days, that's a good thing. It's almost the transgressive weird thing to pen a tale where the dragon that captured the princess is actually an evil dragon that captured a princess these days. Twists after twists...).

"Went straight home"

THIS TRIGGERS ME
Honestly. I really dislike any game David Cage has over hyped and his perticular style of games (Beyond Two Souls, Indigo, Heavy Rain, Detroit) He always comes off as pretenious, and like Moloneux he promises more than he can ever deliver.

In contrast, I LOVED Until Dawn. It's a fun game that does exactly what it sets out to do, letting you be involved directly with many horror cliches and tropes.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/11/19/world-of-tanks-open-beta-hits-ps4-december-4th/

World of Tanks has an open beta coming for the weekend of 12/4 that's open to everyone. You get a special tank for downloading the beta and another for playing during that weekend with a third for those going to PSX that same weekend.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/11/19/beyond-two-souls-coming-to-ps4-on-nov-24th-heavy-rain-out-next-year/

Beyond: Two Souls will be $29.99 when it launches next week and those that buy it get a discount on Heavy Rain when that's out on March 1.

Worth every penny. Grab the one with season pass included for like $20. It's improved massively since launch, and is on the short list for 'best post-launch support' of all time.

I like reading reviews of games people played.

I dislike reading what people shouldn't post on this thread.

Good news.

I got a $20 off code from bestbuy.

I will just buy PS+ now, since it will cost me $30.

Unless bestbuy has a deal on PS+ on black Friday.

One more thing about Max Payne 2, why bill it as a "film noir love story" and have Max's entire motivation for everything he does be love and have both him and Mona have the chemistry and charisma of popsicle sticks. Mona didn't even have a personality for pity's sake. Why was this girl important to Max? Was he turned on by the fact that she loved murdering mobsters as much as he did? It can't be, she had no passion for that either. They even had a gratuitous sex scene which I was too young to watch at the time. "mommy what is he doing is he shooting her why would he be so close to shoot her is he trying to dodge her bullets and go for a melee kill?" Worse still, that sex scene was so bloodless and boring that it has ruined my sex life completely. My first experience with sex was that it was completely passionless, sterile, boring, with a girl who is at best a 6/10 in good lighting, and with absolutely no emotion exchanged at all before or after.

Let's not even get started on the severe Vlad retcon or the bizarrely misued premise of a secret mercenary group dressed as janitors...

Sometimes all you need to do is write a fuck ing mystery where the dude is murdered by someone interesting and a clever dude outwits him and catches him the end. Everyone whose name we have heard as a game developer is only a name we've heard because he is a fuck ing mouth-breathing glory hound who wants to do the next big thing and all these modern auteur wannabe types only know ONE trick these days because our culture is such a barren wasteland: screw the customers' expectations let's get CREATIVE. Even the old day hack shit like MGS2 and Eva could work on multiple levels. Not these days lol.

Anyone with experience in gaming and a realistic look at the effort that goes into gamecraft has to admit that there will be very little branching unless the cost of gamecraft gets scaled back hard. Even Until Dawn, which I loved, gave everyone some serious plot armor until their drama had concluded and only after did death options appear. Which was fine, because not getting resolution on a few of those plot arcs would have hurt the game tremendously and would not have been true to the genre they were aping. At some point we have to accept everyone who promises big is a huckster.

I would stop posting the tirades if the Japanese could learn even one single aspect of game design, JUST ONE.

But they don't. So I must.

And seriously, I was on the "post deals not your meme bullshit" train a couple of years back but eventually I just gave up and realized I was trying to press against a tidal wave.

Soooooo, i'm guessing no Flash Sale this week??

Just getting the weak sale that was posted a couple of pages back right?
We won't know until tomorrow if one comes out since there hasn't been any rumors or leaks of the games. They may just be waiting until next week for a black friday flash sale (which in the past weren't amazing or anything).

Got a couple of new videos of Onigiri and Spelunker World in action:

Anyone know any good games to test input lag on a TV? For the PS4 specifically. I'm looking at picking up a new TV. It will be just for gaming like my old one. Wont even be hooked up to cable. Only Gaming and movies. So a good input lag/response time is important. I've done some research and i think its between two Samsung Models. The JS8500 and JS9000.

JS8500 has 36.9 ms input lag and 11.9 ms response time

JS9000 has 23.6 ms input lag and 11.1 ms response time

You'd think i'd just go with the 9000, but unfortunately its a curved screen. I friggin HATE curved screens. I would just go with the 8500 but that input lag is just ok, not great. I would like to bring my PS4 in to the store and hook it up to test it but i dont know any good games to give me a good gague. I'm thinking specifically about something that was given for PS+. I have all the PS+ games. Are there any that have quick time events or button press sequences that would let me get a feel for the input lag on the TV? If not i can try a disk game or something but a PS+ game would be ideal

Barring that i may be able to take the PS3 in. Off the top of my head i know the cursed chess mini game in Kingdoms of Amular would be a good test. I'm looking for something along the lines of that for the PS4. I would just buy the damn thing but i dont want to get it home and find the input delay is too much for me.

So I guess that's what happened to Afro Samurai. Cancelled, delisted, and apparently removed from accounts, though refunds are incoming.

People, don't delete your crappy Afro Samurai sequels, I think we have a new PT.

Still, it's sad when a publisher straight-up says a project is unsalvageable.
But it's at least they're talking about issuing refunds. Most companies wouldn't bother to do that. How many crappy games have come out that you're just stuck eating the cost?

I haven't played it yet, but Rock Band 4 immediately comes to mind. The RB3 calibration process produced numbers in ms for video and audio delay.

At least they're honest about it being such a terrible and broken piece of shit that they have to refund and delist it for the few that bought it since they're not fulfilling the rest of what they promised. This is not a good game like P.T., so I would hope those affected are happy to get their money back instead of nothing.

Well it came with the 4 PS2 Star Wars games that just got released according to what I read. And this isn't backwards compatibility or anything, just an option for publishers to re-release PS2 games on PS4 (and presumably charge us yet again).
It would certainly be nice if it was backwards compatibility, since it's been so long since that was offered and a whole lot of us still have PS2 games lying around. It doesn't sound like Sony said either way.

meanwhile they apparently can't figure out how to get PS1 games to work despite them being far easier to emulate for the average joe

Well this is supposed to make PS1 games able to be emulated on PS4 as well. Kind of worried that because of that and they'll probably be releasing PS4 versions of the PS1 and PS2 games they'll then make us pay for them again to play them on PS4.

Can you honestly notice a 13 ms lag difference? I would guess that most people would only notice it in a side by side comparison and even then most people probably couldn't tell. I'm not saying you can't, but I wonder if some people just see that spec discussed and place more emphasis on it than they should.
