I just noticed that Demon's Souls is $10 (50% off) on the PSN store -- guess I missed that in the store update. Would people recommend this game? I haven't played the Souls games or Bloodborne (planning to get Bloodborne on Black Friday), but I'm curious to see how the series started. (And yes, I do already understand that they're supposed to be really hard.)

it a good game little bare bone in the sense you're thrown into a situation with no knowledge what going on an have too explore from their. from their you will find traps an enemy's that can kill you in 1-3 shots if you die, then got start over from beginning try again.

you make it far enough you find keys to locked doors or bridges too open short cuts so if you die you cut out lot of the old grind advance far enough an you encounter bosses which will kill you .... again an again an....

For some people, the first level is the hardest level as you have to reorientate your play style as button mashing will not lead to success and you can't level up until you finish the first boss. Then you can grind levels and weapon upgrade materials to make things easier, and then later in the game there are some harder bosses. It's a third person, behind the shoulder action game. You can lock onto the enemy with R3 which causes you to strafe around them. The core gameplay is figuring out the patterns to kill enemies while managing your stamina gauge. When running, swinging your weapon, blocking damage with a shield, dodge rolling, etc.; your stamina gauge depletes. When you stop doing any actions for a few seconds, then it starts to naturally refill. If you are out of stamina you can't do anything but try to walk away.

Or you can use magic which runs off the MP bar instead which does not naturally refill, you have to eat a spice to refill it or wear items with mana regen properties.

The structure is not unlike a Mega Man game, once you beat the first level the other four worlds unlock so you can tackle them in any order. When you kill a boss, it gives you a unique soul which can be used to create a new spell, miracle, and/or weapon. Some of those rewards are useless, but several are very useful.

demon souls god yes buy chaos storm pyromancy soon as u can get 2-3 shot bosses game is so easy with this spell on bossesi m not kidding you i 2 shotted some end game bosses with this it so oped this spell

Thanks for all the feedback! I will definitely get Demon's Souls now. I'm just deciding whether to buy it digitally or wait a few days and get disc used during Best Buy's B2G1 for Black Friday. (I think I would get Dark Souls and Dark Souls II along with it.)

Crossing fingers hoping that next week Sony matchs the sale price on the Telltale collection currently on xbox. ($36.30) Would much rather have them on PS4

Huge is an understatement. Took them four years just to localize it the game is so massive. One of the guys originally in charge of the localization was moments from killing himself over it the project was so daunting. The game has full length novels in it after all and you could fit several other major JRPGs in it.

The first game is massive as well but I believe the second game is twice the size.

http://kotaku.com/the-curse-of-kiseki-how-one-of-japans-biggest-rpgs-bar-1740055631
I listened to an interview with the localization editor who spent 6 years working on it. She says there are 600 NPC's in it with dialogue!

Demons Souls is a masterwork. You should definitely play it. I thought it was terrible by the end and traded it away to Gamestop almost as fast as I did with SW:TFU.

But regardless of how lousy I found it, it is a striking bit of design. It created its own subgenre in much the same way Monster Hunter did. You'll find three awful design decisions for every good one but NOTHING is quite like the Souls franchise in experience, atmosphere, or design. I didn't like it but I'm happy I played it.

I think it's a little bit better than Dark Souls but both had huge, similar, yet different problems.

As much overtime as she clearly worked I really, really hope she got paid for it. A lot of tech people are exempted from OT pay by state laws and working without being paid is just something you're expected to do in games so hopefully she got what she earned at least.

I really hope :ps4: Zestiria is part of the BF PSN sale. Would love to use that $15 credit towards it...

Own P4G and thinking about getting it digitally. Why?!?!?

It's my favorite game of all time but still why?! Oh why?!
I don't even like the game and still am resisting buying it 'just in case' I ever want to give it a spin again and end up liking it. NOTE TO SELF -- I will never like it. I will never even boot it up. If I was forced to boot it up under duress, I would still dislike it.

So why do I still debate buying it?

Same for me, I feel I just want to buy it more than anything else. I likely won't play anyways.

I've considered buying P4G many times, both physical and digital, but every time I look up reviews, I realize that the style of game just isn't interesting to me at all. From an online review:

Persona 4 Golden is part detective novel, part teenage simulation and part asian RPG – all being important pieces which combine to create some of the most memorable and entertaining moments I’ve ever had with a JRPG.
Meh

Here's an unlikely scenario that I'd love to see: Final Fantasy VII (Winter 2015 release date) PS4 Port as one of the free December PS+ titles and some PS2 games too once they announce BC with PS1/PS2 classics at PSX.

Then again, the first Tuesday is December 1st so shouldn't be hearing about the free games in the next few days or will they wait until Monday due to Thanksgiving?

Meh
Reviews are stupid.

Here's P4G: It's a game where you talk to people and make friends and have to make agonizing decisions of who to talk to each day each week to try to make all the friends you can (And fix their problems of course.) because you're leaving in a year.

Sometimes it becomes a mediocre RPG and sometimes it becomes a mediocre detective story. It isn't good at either of those and those are small parts of the game. Not offensive at all but they are certainly not what you're staying for except for how the successful resolution of those mechanics offers up more friendship opportunities. I'd almost liken the RPG crap to 999's puzzles only P4G doesn't stop you every floor to bleat at you about crap they don't intend to ever pay off in the story. It's there to give you something to do and to foster some game mechanic cooked drama to lend weight to the overarching story.

But it is excellent beyond anything else in the medium at the talking to people/making friends and the little vignettes you get with each of those. With that ever present clock in the corner giving the whole thing a nostalgic school memories sort of tone with all the bittersweet taste of a sunset*.

If that doesn't sound up your alley, skip it and don't look back.

*The GUI's color scheme is orange and gold. Inaba is clearly a town whose best days are behind her... I wonder if they were thinking sunsets the whole time with this game...

Bungie has a new referral system where veterans with Destiny: The Taken King can get friends to get the game to play a special quest with them for exclusive rewards (emotes, emblem, shader, sword, and sparrow).

https://twitter.com/DestinyTheGame/status/667771542114140160

They're also going to be upgrading a number of Year One exotics to Year Two power levels with some special surprises in this December Update that they've been talking about.

For those CAG's in the Pacific Northwest & Canada ... Fred Meyer once again has a "save $10/$20/$30 off $50/$100/$150" coupon useful for PSN gift-cards, and valid right now through Wednesday, Nov. 25th, plus there's a bonus coupon if you're hungry!

If you miss that coupon, Fred Meyer has also posted a Black Friday coupon for saving "20% off video game accessories" between 5am-1pm that day, which again can be useful for obtaining PSN gift-cards, or PS4 controllers @ $39.99 (after coupon & sale-price).

See the sticky "Fred Meyer" coupon thread over in the Northwest regional forum for more info ... https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/347660-sticky-fred-meyers-coupons-valid-upon-xbox-playstation-gcs/?p=13050276

if it was as good at dungeon crawling as Nocturne I -might- be able to get through the tedium of social links. But it's not even close, so it's an easy pass.

Is there anything that i can use to navigate my ps4? I just traded in 2 dualshock 4s. I only need to navigate video apps until black friday sales.

I currently have:
Dualshock 3
Hori namco black collector's edition fight stick tournament edition.

Move controller
Move navigation controller .
Ps3 eye bu t no ps4 eye

Are any of these supposed to work?
I thought fight sticks were patched by the skullgirls team?

Go to system settings and turn on HDCP I think it's called. It'll allow you to automatically use your TV remote.

If the social links are tedious to you, pass pass pass pass PASS all day. I loved them.

If you have a USB keyboard laying around you could probably use that. I haven't actually tried in a video app but I have a USB keyboard I have connected all the time and frequently use it to navigate the xmb

I've never tried testing input lag, so forgive me if this isn't something that wouldn't work for your purposes, but of your list, The Order 1886 and Tomb Raider both have quite a few quick time events. I haven't played The Walking Dead Season Two yet, but I assume it does as well since the first season did.
Hmm what type of QTE though? The ones in Walking dead specifically aren't really much use. They have buttons you have to hit, yes. But theres no real indicator to how close you were to hitting it or missing it which you need. Something like a scrolling bar and a button you have to press at a certain mark. Or a spinning wheel that you have to hit certain spots in (like Kingdom of Amular chest opening) Stuff like thats what im shooting for. Anyone know if any of those plus games or the games i listed fit the bill? I guess if no one chimes in i have to start just randomly downloading all the PS+ games and playing them for a bit to see. Thats gonna take a while
