Glad I didn't have much I wanted to buy during Black Friday because Sony is going to get a lot of money from me if this first week is anything to go by.

Picked up Tron Bonne and Lost Dimension to start, and considering Tales of Hearts R. How's it compare to other Tales games? The only ones I've played are Legendia, Abyss, and Symphonia. Is it similar to those or has a lot of stuff changed with the combat system since the PS2/GC days?

i can't believe tales from the borderlands is 3.75 a week and a half after it was on sale for 7.50
Eh. There's been several instances where stuff became free for PS+ right after they went on sale. Yes, it sucks, but it's not really out of left field. And maybe not enough people bought it at 7.50, which prompted it. I know I didn't, cause it was really cheap on PC.

So... anyone got opinions on the pricing for Resogun ($6), Super Stardust Ultra ($5), and Journey ($9)?  Assume one has already missed any PSN Plus freebie offerings.  I wish there was a Enhanced Steam-like historical overview of pricing so I can weigh the awesomeness of the deal...

How is Operation Abyss as far as dungeon crawlers go?
Very good.

Pros -- solid dungeon design, good combat system, pretty cool lewt/ crafting. d&d style spell casting - every level you open up new spells, and can only use each X times per dungeon visit. Really makes you care about when you cast.

Cons -- game is basically 2 older games put together, and so the interface is far more 'old school' than you might be used to. it's not the end of the world, it's just a bit janky re: inventory, etc.

You can choose between 'new' graphics which is basically modern anime portraits of your players, or the original 'paper doll' style. The paper doll style is a bit uglier, but it shows all armor/weapon equips so i greatly preferred it.

there's also a really cool system in place -- a 'danger meter' where the longer you stay in a dungeon, the more powerful enemies get. [you can also lower the danger meter by running from combat].

Oh - and there is free dlc that you can equip on a member to make the game's enemies harder and drop better lewt. I recommend this highly, although there's one boss you may want to take it off for.

I happily plat'd it. It's not the best dungeon crawler or anything, but it's above average and worth your time if you like the genre.

Two or three games, maybe. Not really several. People only cared about the first time it happened (Infamous 2) and the rest were non-issues for most people.

All three of those are great games, though Journey's price is inflated because of the recent release of the PS4 version this past summer. The other two are great games.

Journey is meant to play in one sitting so it's not very long.

Personally I love it but if you are not jonsing to play it right now-now then you can probably hold out for it to hit under $5.

It's a game I've only played three times and I haven't touched it ever since.

I played the crap out of Resogun when it was free for PS+. It's fun co-op too!

Picking up Tales of Borderland Season Pass...already picked up Game of Thrones previously.

I need to buy more PSN cards at this rate...so much for not buying anymore games for the year...Thanks Sony  :wall:

Big tales fan here. Hearts R is worth playing in my book but not by any means one of the best Tales games. It follows the general tales formula and battle system (it will feel familiar to you). For me the standout/memorable issues were the lack of english voice acting, length (less substance to the game compared to other tales games), and a silly plot centered around a fairy tale theme. The character dialogue will definitely make you laugh at times, though. Worth $11 to me.

Any opinions on the superiority of SuperStardust Ultra if I already played the PS3 version a lot?

(I was gonna say enough but you can never play SSD enough)

People are gonna sleep on Geometry Wars 3 and they're wrong to do so. It is refined and still fantastic. Absolutely worth it if you aren't ALREADY playing it on master race from the last Steam sale.

Lost Dimension is almost entirely forgettable and generic TBS RPG except that it is surprisingly competent. The guys who developed it had a hand in Etrian Odyssey at least in the early days and the trademark meaningful skill trees and skill engine variety is there and the skills are so varied and interesting that exploring the skill trees and seeing what you can do with them is almost its own reward. It's extremely solid and very quick to the point. Just a bit of talking and a tutorial mission and bam, you're at Talk/Shop/Mission Select. Perfect for handheld quick missions. Downside, the plot is atrocious. Just forget all the nonsense about traitors and madman destroying the world it's so obvious from cutscene 1 that the game is gonna go deep with this and you have to play it twice to get a good fuck ing ending (Thankfully with bonus skill points to really explore the skill trees next time.) I don't know if that price is the buy price for most but I don't regret getting it.

Also it's not Holiday Sale, it's CHRISTMAS SALE you disgusting fuck ing peasants. Get it right.

This sale reminded me to thank everyone who voted for "Grow Home" instead of "Armello". It was an Ubisoft game, kids. AN UBISOFT GAME. You got a free game that you could have bought for $2.64.
Why would I want a game for free that I have zero interest in playing? I already have enough of those.

Fallout 4 has a big update out now that is supposed to address some of the performance issues and specifically notes the Corvega plant as a key place they worked on. Quest bugs and other issues are also mentioned.

Destiny has a big update to go with the Sparrow Racing League stuff with a lot of tweaks to classes, weapons, and other parts of the game:

https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Update---12082015/en/News/News?aid=14094

There is also a big 3.8 GB update for Rock Band 4 that adds a new Brutal mode that offers Crimson Stars for FCing songs in that mode. It also adds new items for the shop like a Vault Suit and Pip Boy from Fallout plus some other features. Plus this:

Was wondering from those who played both. Which is the better game/purchase Games of Thrones or Talea of the Borderlands from Telltale? I own Walking Dead a season 1 &2 and Wolf Among Us and I enjoyed Wolf Among Us more if that helps.

Serious question, I've seen Samurai Warriors 4 and 4-II regularly on these sales.
Do they have a Create a Warrior mode like the older Dynasty (and Empires) games used to have?

Both do. SW4-2 only uses CAWs in free mode and the survival gauntlet mode. SW4-1 has an entire mode of random generated maps keyed around grinding forever with your CAW and befriending everyone in Japan one by one.

You can't use a one month code?
There's not really any one month codes any more. Now each account can have the trial one time, and you get the trial through Sony themselves. The smallest denomination would be 3 month cards, which are normally $17.99. Was on sale for $10 during Black Friday, but obviously that's of no use to you any more.

Thanks for the clarification. Didn't realize they stopped giving out the trial cards and had no luck finding any extras in my desk.
