How is the version of Dead or Alive 5 that's on sale for $19.99 on PS4?  Does it include most of the fighters or is there still a ton of shit I won't be getting?  I don't care about costumes.

hasnt been a good vita title all 2015 so why would they start now.... heard rumor vita is being taken off and more ps4 games very soon

Killzone mercenaries comes to mind?? Just stop it, it has been lackluster, but that's due to them running out of options. We've gotten good games for it though

I'll reserve judgement on Hardware: Rivals since Rocket Cars turned out to be an awesome game (and, no, I am not going to set my expectations that high). Grim Fandango is great game, even if I already have it.

The rest, particularly for Vita, are meh. Nihilumbra is fun, but it's a mobile port (which I played on iOS for like $.99).

Is Ayesha Plus worth it? Apparently the time limit is very lax, which appeals to me. I want a good jrpg for a road trip I'm taking today.
Ayesha is really good... One of the best overarching stories of the Atelier games I've played...and a good place to jump in story-wise since it's the beginning of the most recent trilogy, so you aren't missing out on backstory. I really liked the mechanics of that one, too. Still has its occasional difficulty spikes and a time limit, though (the two later games in that trilogy relaxed it further, with Atelier Shallie sort of dropping the time limit thing altogether and even adding an easier difficulty for newbies). I think the time limit in Ayesha was more lax than the Arland trilogy, at least...

It's still a History Channel game however you slice it.
If I'm reading right it is made by Slitherine, which is known for great tactical war games, but this looks like it is one of their worst reviewed games. It also came out on 360, where it has a whopping 51 on Metacritic.

I'd like to know this as well. They do a terrible job letting you know what's in each version, especially with more than 100 add ons available...

The PSP version has a 79 on Metacritic for what it's worth. Can't say I'm thrilled, but with my backlog it won't matter much.

Yeah. Still confused as I think this is actually a Vita version, which only has one review, a 6/10. But, no matter, not something I'd be that into anyway.

NHL 16 is great! Last one I had was 13 for ps3 so it's nice to see all the subtle improvements culminating in a big jump in quality- especially love the UI feedback, showing you where you are aiming, suggesting passes and moves etc

Can someone tell me why a game like Astebreed that's only 850 MB still won't download after clearing stuff for a total of 11.25 GB of "Free Space"?

I think we covered this a few days ago... if you were short on space before then you have to reboot the PS4 for it to fully see the newly freed space.

I tried that and it didn't help.

I really need to upgrade my hard drive. I know I'm just being lazy not wanting to transfer / redownload games. Just wish it was as easy as my X1 plugging in an external.

I have a 20% off coupon that expires tomorrow and I have a cart full of stuff and $3.96 left to spend on my account. Of the cheap games on sale I already own Suikoden 2 and I have Suikoden 3 and Breach and Clear in my cart. Any recommendations?

ps plus for January is alright I guess. I hear a lot of things about Grim Fandango and I wanted to play Dragon Age for a while. When I first read it I thought it was Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 so disappointed there.

Weird... I wonder if it's a PSN thing with that specific game, PSN itself (hackers), or if it's your actual system. Have you tried downloading something else? Have you tried going into safe mode and rebuilding the database ( how to )? Seems like with that much free space just doing the hard reset would straighten it out but maybe rebuilding the database will help.

In any event, I'm going to be upgrading my kid's PS4 sometime soon. I already bought the harddrive and have a second external drive to do the backup on. It's just a matter of taking the time to do it. Given how slow external drives on USB (even usb3) are to harddrives being on the system bus itself, I'm glad the PS4 has a way to fairly easily upgrade the system for the faster load times.

Angus hates Aliens is a fun little game... SNES-style 'run and gun' with a lot of content for a mini.

Picked up far cry 4, lost orbit, nom nom, and mega man legends. Good deals this week. Was hoping to see shovel knight but might just have to pick that up for regular price

Hoping Shovel Knight goes on sale soon too. Beat it on WiiU but wouldn't mind getting it again with the DLC and trophies.

This $20 sale is all you need to play the full game with all characters. The DLC beyond this (of which there is a totally ridiculous amount) is all costumes and a few videos.

Curious about this as well. The free version let's you get all trophies, so this $20 basically opens up all the characters?

Damn bought grim fandango and barely played it
You're looking at it wrong. You bought Grim Fandango AND already got to play it somewhat.

A marked improvement over most of our strategies of buying the game and never playing it before getting it for free.

I like to buy something months in advance and then once it becomes free maybe play it.

Thanks for the database idea. Unfortunately, after doing that it still said around 11 GB free and still wouldn't download even the 846 MB Astebreed. I tried other things too like an episode of Minecraft Story Mode (episode 3 was ~1 GB) for my son and also got the download error due to space.

I'm dumbfounded. I could understand if there was like 2 GB of free space and maybe it needed space to both download and install, but 11 GB?

I'm going to have to find the time to upgrade my hard drive when even these small games are forcing me to delete bigger ones just to install them.

Sounds like it's time to put a 2TB drive in there and be done with it. Backing it up would get you everything that's on the old drive copied to the new one, though you need an external hard drive at least as big as your current internal drive.

Work to do the swap isn't that much, maybe 15 minutes. You also need a flash drive to put a copy of the OS so the PS4 can reload it onto the drive. Needs to be 1GB or bigger, as the file is about 800MB (full system installer versus the upgrade, which is much smaller).

I dropped a 2TB drive in my PS4 when I bought it, recommend doing the same to any PS4 you buy.

Delete everything that is pending download, restart your PS4, then try again.

But yeah, 2TB is nice, I upgraded mine awhile ago and I have tons of games installed now.

Same here. When I got my Destiny Bundle when it first came out 2 years ago, I picked up a 2TB HDD and installed it right away.

Speaking of which how did everyone do on their gaming goals this year?

Mine was to beat two games a month which got bumped up to four a month.  Had some months where I didn't hit four each month (like when I slipped back in to WoW) but hit 48 total this year so I'm counting it an overall success/something really depressing.  Think I'm going to aim for 20-24 next year so I can feel to indulge in longer and multiplayer focused games.  Trying to fit four games in a month definitely influenced some of my choices when I might have started a 40+ hour game instead or have wanted to spend more time with a multiplayer title or something without a traditional end.

I beat at least 1 game...that was my goal.

I don't set gaming goals. Considering I beat Witcher 3 twice (near 100% on PC and platinum on PS4), I don't really think # games beaten are something I can set. Also since dungeon crawlers tend to be 40-80+ hours a piece.

Well yeah but that doesn't mean you can't have goals for the year even if it's not a number to beat. I played far more of my games this year than ever before because I set a goal but I also wouldn't aim for something so high again because it, as mentioned, affected my choices and swayed me away from playing those massive games.

Well, I fell behind on dungeon crawlers. I had pretty much played all dungeon crawlers on handhelds until this year. Started with EO:U2 with bored me to tears (think I stopped near the end, not counting end game), then Operation Abyss didn't grip me. Started Operation Abyss back up today though.

My new year's resolution will be to not start a different game until I beat the one I'm currently playing. Time b4 I break this resolution <1 day.

Ok, I know one I'll really keep - too increase my backlog by 24+ games - GwG will do this for me easily.
How I wish I could say that this year I won't buy any games I won't immediately play.

Damnit! like several of you i got Grim Fandango when it was a sale a little while ago. I actually almost didn't. I thought it may be a PS+ game but i figured it would be a ways down the line so i said screw it. Blea

Suikoden 2 was my first game in the series. In short, I love it, and was wondering if it'll be enjoyable to go back and play the first one?
As several people have said.. yes. S1 is an awesome game. I actually almost like it as much as the 2nd one. I've played it more oftent. Probably because its shorter

If Suikoden 3 was released today it would cost 100 dollars to play the whole game. At least 80.
I laughed at that then i got all sad because its actually true =( Look at the horseshit they're doing with Fire Emblem. I kinda hate what games are becoming these days

How did I not see this game before? Has it ever gone on sale? Gonna hold off, but it definitely looks like it belongs in my library. My haul this week:

Astebreed

Ender of Fire

Apotheon

Never Alone

Roundabout (for the little guy)

Nom Nom Galaxy

Had I known about nuclear throne, i would have thrown that in the mix too, but I'm happy about the sale this week.

Edit: Ah, I see it's a fairly new game... I just might have to outright buy this.
It's worth outright buying. The game is blissful, and extremely replayable.
