Anyone have opinions on Crystal Defenders?  Hoping it's something challenging and more like the old Starcraft/Warcraft3 tower defense maps than like Plants vs Zombies.

I played the iPhone port. It's a great phone tower defense. It looks the same scaled to the psp or ps3 version.
It played similarly to Defenders Quest but with a much smaller map. It was mostly cramming as many high level units in confined spaces. But it was fun.

Thanks for the insight. Picked it up. :)

50% off Digital Star Ocean, or 20% off Physical.
It's one of those series I may just want to own the physical version one day since I loved 4 enough to buy it and play through it on 360 and PS3.

Quick, Downwell or Pac-Man 256 to finish off my spend $100?

50% is just a tad more than 20%?

True, but then I wouldn't own it physically...

but with how everything has to install does physical really matter?

I guess it's do I really value the tactile sensation of ownership and knowing the disc will be there, vs the 50% off.

Star Ocean 5 BTW.

Also, I'd say Pac-Man?

So I got my copy of Mighty No 9 today..

Opened the game and redeemed the voucher code.

Shows I now own the Game digitally for PS3 *and* PS4, the Ray DLC for PS4 only.. shows $4.99 for the DLC on PS3.

Have not even taken the disc out of the box, downloading the Digital version on the PS4. Bonus or error?

50% off Star Ocean? I'm missing something here...
$15 from the Spend $100 (I know it comes BY the 5th) + Best Buy's Buy 1 Get 1 20% off PSN Cards (Ends Saturday) + $15 Best Buy Rewards..

Even if I take the $15 off the 20% it's still $3 more minimum.

Got Pac-Man 256 since that came out today and Downwell looks great but is a month closer to a sale.

Oh of you're using the $15 in certs towards the digital I would lean towards the physical if it's only a couple dollars difference.

Exactly, as I said $3 more minimum depending how I stack the 20% off PSN card thing.

Well not factoring in that you have to buy PSN cards in $20 quantities (two $10 cards) and assuming you'll use the rest anyway my math says digital OOP would be $25.50 after cert, credit, and effective 10% credit discount. Physical would be $33 after cert and GCU. So it's like $7.50 but if you want it for your collection that's not too bad. I figure for things like that if I was going to add it to my collection to have the savings has to be significant enough that if I pick up a copy for $10 down the road it's still worth it. Also consider that going physical you still have that $15 credit on PSN to spend so you actually come out $7.50 ahead in an indirect way.

Aye, I was factoring that.

If there is a flash sale say the first week of July or something.

Also if I spend more or less at BB, I get a bigger discount and can toss the $15 ontop of it on the cards.. which can be spent later on PSN.

Though I am also looking at the guide, which is discounted IF you buy the Physical. Though I'd prefer a non collectors guide.

This is the most ludicrous CAG math I've ever witnessed on the site, and thats saying something because I've seen some fuck in' doozies.

You don't have to buy the cards 2 x $10 cards at a time...... The savings are the same if you buy 2 x $20, 2 X $30 or 2 X $50...

Reminds me of threads that claim "Brand new AAA game for $30!!!" then it turns out they used a gift card or something to get that price...lol.

So the dlc code for ray unlocks the ps3 vita and 4 version of the whole game? I say you might want to see about trading the disc in while you can since its netting about 16 with gs promotion XD

Just did the same since I saw this and I got the ps4 copy too haha. Sounds like an error similar to the nba one on Xbox.

Thanks for all the advice. Probably going with the below (I already have Chrono Trigger on 3DS):

  • Dissidia (duodecim)
  • Chrono Cross
  • Legend of Mana
  • FF IV - VI
  • FF VIII - IX
probably not part of the sale but ff13-3 is really good combat wise and short. about 10-15 hours. And that was with me doing all sidequests and such. the writings pretty snarky too. No reason to concern yourself with playing the other 2 titles in the trilogy as the story isn't taken seriously and the games are pretty loosely connected as it is.

So I'm insane and bought Lightning Returns with the intention of breaking the game with DLC. Looking online, I see most people suggesting either FFX Yuna or FF7 Cloud. If I only got one, which one would break the game more?
cloud only works early game from what I recall then gets outclassed quickly in. No idea on yuna as I never heard anything about it.

best ways to break the game are the soldier of peace or whatever garb with artemis arrow and a behemoths sword you get from making them extinct or the sword you get from finishing etros temple. though the latter is better suited to a magic set up.

besides that monk garb makes you do helicopter round house kicks really fast.

lancer weapon with a skill makes you do a little extra damage.

magic wise thunder thundara/daga is the way to go outside when enemies have weaknesses.

Well yes, I was expressing that as the minimum purchase and that your optional effective savings in doing so is in purchasing in evenly matched pairs in multiples of $20.

I would be tempted to try this, but seeing how Sony can pull the license (like they did for Aperture Amplitude) leans me on being lazy

I was stuck with the game anyway and wouldn't be able to return. Was going to just trade it in without using the code but decided to see what happens. I'll try and download and finish it quickly before they revoke it if they ever do so.

Can I ask for you to explain this one, as without explanation, this makes my brain hurt?
Best Buy offers 50% off Game Guides if you buy it with the physical release of the game.

However, they only have the "Collectors Edition Guide" (IE Hard Bound edition) or a digital copy on their site.

Eh, I look at it as 50% off since I am getting $30 paid minimum if I go with the digital edition.

Though you're right, it was rather misleading and more of my internal thought process on this matter.

Yea, I was going to make a comment about that too.

Since the more you get in PSN cards, the larger discount you get...

I was honestly looking at just grabbing 2 $20s.

I would be tempted to try this, but seeing how Sony can pull the license (like they did for Aperture) leans me on being lazy
What happened with Aperture?
If you paid for it, they shouldn't be able to pull the license without giving you some sort of reconciliation.

With Mighty No.9 We DID pay for the disc, so we should technically own the stuff that came with it.

..... Though I'm not one to talk.

I rented Playstation All Stars from Gamefly when it was released, and used the disc to give myself a Digital copy of the Vita version.

Back when BlockBuster was a thing, the store would leave all the codes and printed material in their game cases on the shelf, so I help myself to the first edition, Club Nintendo, and online passes if I were renting said game.

I had asked this on the Playstation 2 board.... but does anyone know the ampage and voltage on a PS2 Power cord?

I went to hook up my PS2 recently and found I have a bunch of cords that fit the system...

The two most common are

3A 125V

7A 125V

And I am not sure which to use, or which even is the one that goes with my system... and I am now worried about what I have hooked up to my PS3 and 4.. but that's just me over thinking the situation.

I think he's talking about Amplitude, whose demo accidentally gave people a license as the full game for free and was obviously revoked.

Aye, that one makes sense since it was a store error.

This one, you have to purchase a copy of the game (or find an opened/gutted copy) to get access to the code.

I don't think BL Presequel was as good as 2, but definitely far from "garbage".

Grand Kingdom on the other hand...
Liked the demo, but the full game is a mess (to me).
Shit, don't tell me that... I pre-purchased it for nearly full price. :( :( :( I swear, I always regret it when I do that.

I haven't even gotten to play the damn thing yet (and had no idea there was a demo... woops) because of...:

Is PSN insanely slow for anyone else right now? Turn the PS4 on and it wants to download an update of 300 MB. 20 minutes later it's 10.5 MB done and estimating 12 hours remaining. My internet's working fine otherwise and I've powered it off and whatnot.
Searched through pages upon pages (man this thread moves fast) just to find this and tell you that, yes, I am also experiencing this issue. Have been all through my router settings, e-mailed my ISP, worried my PS4 was broken, etc etc etc... Is it just the PSN download servers? Why are they so crappy and slow? One thing you might want to try is setting your DNS servers to Google's public open servers (8.8.8.8 primary and 8.8.4.4 secondary) in your network settings. Did not help for me at all, but it seems to for some. Maybe only if you live in a busy area with a lot of network traffic. As for me, seems I'm just stuck with half a mbps downloads at Sony's whim.

Cimson Gem Saga ... man I remember that game. It was hard as hell. If you didn't get a sneak attack before battle, you would often die. Lot of grinding, very OK.

I doubt anyone was wondering, though.

No, it doesn't make sense no matter whose head it's in.

Gift cards and reward certificates aren't free. I can't buy gift cards and pay with only gift cards and come out with no money spent.

And you're likely one of the people who count stuff like reward certificates twice. "I got a $10 reward certificate and 20% off, so it was $38." followed by "It's $50 cause I had a $10 rewards certificate."

And you can't apply discounts selectively. You can't go, "I can use the rewards certificate only towards the PSN credit, but not towards the physical edition."

It doesn't work that way. None of it works that way.

Edit: In the REAL world, you have 25% off digital and 20% off physical.
