The rewards program on Xbox is also pretty decent, and I haven't seen anything on the Sony side since they gutted theirs.
Just on a whim, I signed into my Sony Rewards account after reading this and my paltry 200 points has transformed into 2,500+ points! Looks like a bunch of trophy points were finally processed in the last two days. Progress?

Gonna trade those in for $20 right now. :)

Edit: What the fuck? They're going to ship it through the mail? Why would they do that?

I always have a soft spot for Phantasia myself. It really wowed me when I played it many years ago.

Destiny 1 will always have a spot in my heart as my favorite even though it plays really dated just because the story characters and sprite work had so much charm.  And this is coming from someone who didn't play it until after I found out tales was a series after symphonia.  I tracked down destiny, and eternia psp.  Eternia aged quite well.

Gameplay wise vesperia will always be my favorite then hearts r because of how many options they have (more so in vesperia than hearts) and their carry over systems which the other games lack equipment carry over.  Xillia is the closest to that since you can carry over your shop level but you still need to buy back all the equipment.

Hearts r's beryl is a fricken beast as well thanks to hybrid artes calculating magic stat into physical attacks which she has a very high one of.  Using her basic brush attack I was able to crush numerous enemies with her.  Never will you encounter a mage who works so op as a melee.

Graces I loved as well and would be my 3rd favorite gameplay wise thanks to replica dolls, piggyback and the book/dish system allowing for alot of customization.  The problem is graces is super grindy to get anything, you can't carry over equipment or title levels either.  And even with max multipliers I wasn't able to max all titles even on ng+

I really want a legendia remake someday :/

In no particular order: Abyss, Xillia, Graces, Berseria, Symphonia. I just picked up Vesperia . Is the combat supposed to be this slow, compared to the rest it seems very slow.

Edit: typed the wrong name

Vesperia came out over 10 years ago so yeah it will feel slower. Especially since you are playing the ps3 version which like many ports doesn't run as well.

Vesperia does more with its engine though than the other games due to having large spells, insta casting and more than 4 enemies possible at one time via link encounters among other things. The closes you get to that is the bosses like slime queen from graces that summon a crap load of mini enemies. Just wait till you have meteor storm and tidal wave going off at the same time as holy rain and tempest and you'll see the game really lag.

Hearts is the most underrated Tales game. It's Tales on Vita. I heart that combination
Don't forget about the 2d original versions from the ds that were never localized. regular anime and fugly kill it with fire fmv version.

Ever since I played Graces a few years back it's been my favorite, the combat is just so good. The CC system is so much better than the usual TP system. It does get really complicated because of how many attacks you can have equipped at one time (like over 20 if you use shortcuts iirc) but I love that stuff. But also I really enjoyed Asbel's play style based around certain attacks sheathing/unsheathing his weapon, it was just a fun mechanic to have to keep in mind when doing combos.

Also super unpopular opinion but I actually like Zestiria lol. I think it's really bad as a Tales game which are largely built around chaining together ridiculous combos but on its own I actually like the mechanics of it. It's the only game in the series where I actually felt like I needed to learn each enemy type intimately because of the stagger/stun system they had, plus I enjoyed how optimal play required jumping between the different forms constantly. Main problem with the game for me is that the equipment/skill system is just completely awful.

I wasn't even aware of Sony Rewards! Thank you for the heads up. Also, thanks forum users for introducing me to eBates which I have used to earn plenty of money back on my online spending.

Thank you! I just checked my account and I have 2,315 point available.
They just added a bunch of points for Trophies to my account.
I'm going to cash this in for $20.

Edit: I got my $20 code almost instantly. Sony Rewards thank you for actually being efficient.

Hmm, I just noticed I had enough points for a $10 PSN card, but I'm still waiting for the code 20 minutes later... :whistle2:k

I've been 100% Sony this generation until I got an Xbox One X when RDR2 came out. Xbox has been getting the bulk of my digital dollars since then. I had no problems getting a refund on a digital purchase the one time I asked for one. The rewards program on Xbox is also pretty decent, and I haven't seen anything on the Sony side since they gutted theirs.
I could never go full Microsoft Xbox simply due to the lack of Japanese content like Yakuza, rpg's, visual novel style games like Zero Time etc. Plus I like single player games and Sony rocks this with their exclusives though they have recently stated they want to focus more on multiplayer so that could be trouble. I've not turned my One X on since bringing it home, so sadly I think I'm skipping Xbox next generation.

If Nintendo had a trophy system, I would likely move to them, but they aren't exactly the bastion of customer support and pro consumerism either. And their weak hardware means they aren't getting some of the bigger AAA games found on the PS4. So for the next generation I'll likely still own both a Sony and Nintendo console.

Thank you! I just checked my account and I have 2,315 point available.
They just added a bunch of points for Trophies to my account.
I'm going to cash this in for $20.

Edit: I got my $20 code almost instantly. Sony Rewards thank you for actually being efficient.
I see that they added trophies, but not the points. I should have at least 2,000 points, or close to it.

Anyone have an opinion on Anthem? Worth buying? Wait for a sale?
Just depends how badly you want to be a part of BioWare's swan song really. I mean, the game is fun but it's nothing groundbreaking. Only got through the tutorials last night but at least the game is working vs the demo beta. For someone like me who cares nothing about Destiny, Division, and last BW game played was Dragon Age 2: the game feels fresh because I'm coming from no looter-shooter burnout. For anyone else, it's easily a pass until the game is fleshed out and $20.

I would trust people here more than any “reviewer”
ACG is pretty much the only reviewer I even pay any attention to.
I watched several reviews of it, but I also trust ACG or SkillUp. Both said to avoid it, but then I saw people say the day-one patch helped the game so I figured I would ask here.

ok if you want to listen to people that have argued that Crackdown 3 is better than God of War, Saints Row is better than GTA, The Last of Us is garbage, Call of Duty is the worst game ever made etc etc be my guest

From what I've read, Anthem is good for the first 5 hours and then gets worse and worse.  I'll play the 10 hour trial version on EA Access sometime.

Anthem is a game that might be a 6.5 or 7/10 now but I bet in a month or 2 it will be half price and twice as good.

I’m ok waiting but hopeful it will have a lot more content down the line

"I would trust random-ass-nobody rather than someone whose job it is to do the exact thing that I'm looking for."

Uhhh what? That's like an anti-vaxxer rationalization.

SPONSORED reviews. Non politically motivated reviews are better.

And i'm not defending Anthem here... but didn't a reviewer just bash anthem, yet he didn't understand how to do a combo attack?.... It's his "job" right?...

and like I said, ACG is pretty much the only "reviewer" i even listen to anymore.

I MUCH prefer to watch gameplay videos with ZERO comments rather than read/watch a review.

And guess what, he does not recommend it "at this time" but he *does* point out there is fun to be found, just has some issues.

Just to pipe in here... As much as I do love GTA, I can't help but enjoy Saints Row more. Yes, GTA tends to have a grittier story, more memorable songs on their soundtracks, and a narratively better play structure, but you just can't beat the insane, off-the-wall wackiness of the Saints Row series.

After rewatching the official gameplay trailer from two years ago, I can honestly say they pulled a No Man's Sky with Anthem. Trailer looks amazing and is nothing like what they delivered. IDC if it was from two years ago: if you present something as factually gameplay footage and then pull out the rug later on, that's still lying about your product. It's rather sobering why I was first excited for Anthem when I saw the trailer and by now I had completely forgotten how it was presented. It's night and day.

You got to wait for a deal... its dying in reviews and buzz was almost nonexistent now.

Randomly saw this video last night in my recommended feed and watched it while I was trying to get to sleep and it was really good. I have basically 0 interest in Anthem (I'll check it out when it hits PS+ but that's about it) but I really enjoy watching lengthy and comprehensive thoughts about games, even if I don't agree with the conclusion they come to.

But yeah, if someone has nearly an hour to kill I think it's a pretty good look at the game. Even if you don't agree with the guy you can still learn a lot about the game and how it is put together.

This is absolutely weird,
I pre-ordered Kingdom Hearts 3, and have since played through the game.

I had to replace my Pro Recently, and went to download the game via the webpage.. and it's showing I don't own the game.. YET... when I go through the Download Page, or the console itself.. it shows I own it.. wtf is going on?

Anyone know what's with the weird discrepancy?

Issue 2 (two weeks ago): Tuesday around 11AM EST I realized I had not downloaded all of the January free PS+ games that I might want. On the Sony site, it said "Amplitude (PS3) FREE for PS+". I click quickly, checkout, see my download, and that my prepaid PS balance was deducted $20+tax for the game! I contact support, she says that it CLEARLY says on the page that at 8AM PST the free game ends. I take a screenshot showing their website is STILL SHOWING IT IS FREE! The information was contradicting - there systems were updating the prices but the website had not updated yet to remove that free image. I explained I had not downloaded the game yet, and she could remove it from my account and refund me because I did not want it unless it was free. After back and forth of making me feel guilty, having to re-explain the situation again, etc. she made a "one-time refund" to my account. At least she refunded me, but not without struggle.
I hate dealing with this even in B&M stores. Black Friday I went into Target and saw Metal Gear Survive for $20 (no jokes please, I legit liked the game even if the Kojima elitists don't). It wasn't in their ad, and knowing it had come out earlier in the year I worried it wouldn't scan correct. Their price checker unit confirmed it was full price, but there was a sign for it, so I snapped a picture and took it to the register with me, showing the photo with the timestamp just a few minutes before. They tried to claim they couldn't honor it, but I said I'd gladly walk them back right then and show them the sticker was still there.

Ultimately it was busy enough obviously so the clerk just gave me the correct price rather than walking away from their register on the second busiest shopping day of the year.

I've even had to do this on coffee and other items. If it seems too good to be true, snap a picture.

PS: Get the Target app too--sometimes the prices are lower on the app than in stores. I did that with some hair product just this week and held the app up to prove it.

EDIT -never mind, figured it out.  Looks like the points for trophies program died last fall.  I only had a few silver and gold trophies - not enuf even to redeem anything worthwhile

Good advice. I always snap a picture when I see a price sign that is lower than either an ad or label on the item. In Massachusetts, if you are overcharged (even by $.01), the item is free up to $10 (max of one of the item). I have gotten many free items at my local supermarket because of this (probably averaging a free item 1 in every 3 trips).

PSN we store does that at times. Does it show you own it after you install from the ps4? Or if you add to cart..
I put it in cart, and it's letting me purchase it.. even though I just downloaded and played it.

So, I have no clue what's going on.

Does it have something to do with setting your new PS4 as the primary console in your house? I’m just guessing, but maybe your account on their website hasn’t updated that you registered a new console?

Going by what Sony Rewards said last, they're ending the trophy passes, but any trophy pass you had active around the end of October last year you will still be able to complete by September or October this year. But at this point no new trophy passes can be started.

I think the +0 points we're seeing next to trophy entries on our Sony Rewards activity page is simply the site keeping track of earned trophies. Since trophies aren't worth anything individually they get listed as a 0 point activity. It's only when we earn enough trophies to complete a pass that they become worth something. And I'm guessing those +100 and +1,000 point Badges in Lonely Boy's screen capture are completed silver and platinum trophies.
