And fuck I hear today that Sony's working on the PS5. I don't need no new system. I still got tons of PS4 games left. And a distant hope that I'll get to play a couple of the 100 unplayed PS3 games I played. And I've given up on ever playing my PS2 games (I've just rebought them all for PS4 anyway)
It's been a rumor (all but confirmed officially) since before E3 based on devkit leaks and patent filings. The guess is that it'll launch in 2019, and be backwards compatible. The benefit of switching to a more common architecture. So replacing your PS4 with a PS5 should not be an issue at all.

There were 6 years between the PS1 and PS2, PS2 and PS3, and 7 years between PS3 and PS4. A PS5 next year would make it 6 years between the PS4 and PS5, so it's actually due.

Anything else have Resogun removed from their account? I noticed I don't have it during this sale since it allows me to purchase it.
I can guarantee with complete certainty that it was not removed from your account. You're either not logged in, or there was a slight glitch with PSN or your web browser. Nothing to see here.

Even though I haven't played it in years, I'm sad. I would buy a new version.

i don't understand not wanting sony to make new and better tech because you foolishly bought games you will never play

This might be the only time it's ever been on sale in two years, so you either get it at 30% off or you're probably not buying it.

That's the game plus the season two content, not S1. If you want both seasons, the Ultimate Edition is what you'd want.
why would you buy the Ultimate edition?

the Rematch Edition plus the Season 1 pass would cover everything but the Eliza DLC

Buying it separately would be about a 50% discount on the Ultimate edition

I don't know why he wouldn't be fun?

I said he must be fun.  You might have misread the post.

Tell that to my wallet.

Tell that to my wallet.
So don't upgrade? It's likely for benefiting VR and 4K. They'll make PS4 versions of the same game for years to come, especially multiplatform games.

Edit: I hope they at least have a way to dock the VR unit so there's just 1 extra wire to the headset, and not 7 more.

I wasn't talking about the best deal, just wanting all of the content in the bundle. It's fine if you want to go that route.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi and the team behind Rez Infinite and Lumines working on the new Tetris game is a big deal.
Yeah, but 36 bucks is still a lot. Other than being beautiful, what else could it offer?

All straight lines? A new never before seen EIGHTH shape?

I am actually hoping for something new mechanically. I don't know what that would be.

I just can't imagine it will be that much better than regular Tetris that I've been playing since the 80's.

The Franklin Mint has a chess set carved from hand polished kari wood with weighted pieces with felt bottoms and a walnut and maple board.

But it's still chess. $390 chess.

That's a weird way to think about a new Tetris. I have Game Boy Tetris on my 3DS, so I can play regular Tetris whenever for the pure experience. I don't need Tetris Effect to be regular Tetris and Miz is putting his own weird twist on it. There's a preview about the main new mechanic on the PS Blog from a few months ago:

https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/06/25/tetris-effect-adds-a-new-strategic-layer-to-the-decades-old-game-and-it-works/

Okay, I read the blog.  I feared it would be regular Tetris with fancy colors and incredible music.

This new game is a different take on Tetris.

Just got an email from Sony that the servers for Warhawk for PS3 are going down on 10/25.

I think Sony knows that I'm the last person on Earth who still enjoys the PS3 more than the PS4.

Bruh, the next Playstation isn't hitting until 2020. There's no PSX this year because Sony doesn't have much to reveal. Their next Playstation will be revealed at next years E3 with a release date at some point in 2020. Death Stranding will be a launch title.

There were 6 years between the PS1 and PS2, PS2 and PS3, and 7 years between PS3 and PS4. A PS5 next year would make it 6 years between the PS4 and PS5, so it's actually due.

Yeah, Kojima left Konami because Konami was going to force him to release another PS4 title.

It comes with what it says - Tekken 7 and Season 2 pass.

Here's the Rematch Edition on the Xbox store (you can see what's included with the bundle):

Thank you, just you could read and interpreted in a few ways such as
Such as the complete experience meaning all the Season 1 content, OR just the game, or the game and a couple portions of season 2, but not all of it.. that's why I asked.
Still seems a weird way to break up the game...

Debating if it's worth it.

FINALLY! I won't have to be ashamed of my decade-old name choice. Hopefully the one I really want is still available. Anyway, this fine print worries me a little:

This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally published after April 1, 2018, and a large majority of the most-played PS4 games that were released before this date. However, please note not all games and applications for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support the online ID change, and users may occasionally encounter issues or errors in certain games. If for any reason you experience issues after changing your ID, you can revert back to your original ID for free at any time (you will only be able to revert once during the preview program). Reverting back to an old ID will resolve most issues caused by the ID change. In addition, when this feature officially launches, a list of compatible games published before April 1, 2018, will be provided on PlayStation.com for reference before you make a change.
Why would there be ID issues with older titles? Shouldn't everything convert at once? Is this just referring to online games?

I'll be honest, I don't give a shit about my PSN name and don't care about anyone's ability to change it. It is weird to me how many people care.

Colin Moriarty explained this on his Sacred Symbols podcast a couple weeks ago. Said that when Sony launched PSN your account was tied to the name you signed up with. This differs from Microsoft which assigns you a number on the back end and whatever name you choose everywhere else. This difference means that changing your name on Microsoft didn't effect anything since your back end number never changes, however on PSN it would break leaderboards, trophies, and other things because you will appear as a brand new person to the system and your old ID appears wiped. Now that the older games are being phased out and Sony has changed its back end, name changes are now possible but will break some older games still using the old system.

Thanks for shedding some more light on this. I'm still a little bit iffy about the wording of that article, especially regarding compatibility issues. If I'm playing an older game that I've never played before for the first time, there should be no issues, right? I don't play enough MP so the leaderboard stats shouldn't affect me much. I'm more concerned about my library and trophies successfully carrying over from my old username. I'd like to finally be able to display my trophy card for once.

Hmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with older game servers being shut down lately. :whistle2:k

They announced the ps4 in February and released it in November. I predict the same type of announcement, release for the ps5 and believe they've been working on it for longer than the recent announcement.

Been using mine since the mid 90s. Not changing mine either. The only other one I use more often is more likely unavailable.

Not going through with PSN name change until the real release next year and the list of all compatible games comes out, that'll give me plenty of time to think of a new name while they get everything working right.

I won't be changing mine. Been using it since the SNES X-Band in the mid-90s. In fact, I'd love to use it on every other service, but was very late to the party at places like Twitch, YouTube and Google...

As a huge Tetris and Lumines fan, I am really looking forward to sitting down with the new Tetris. Just the game visuals and music alone are exciting. It's a shame it wasn't also made available for vita, at least digitally.

With any Legacy system, the hard part is never changing things going forward. It's dealing with all of the Legacy applications that use the older system. In the case of PSN, that means dealing with the store, their accounting software, stuff like Sony Rewards, and everything else that is linked to your account that you don't normally think about. That includes old games with their leaderboards, matchmaking, excetera.

Fixing Legacy code is brutal, and sometimes impossible. In many cases you have software that nobody has looked at for years and may even be written in a language no one on-site has used in years. You need to spend an inordinate amount of time just familiarizing yourself, and then you're making changes that could break important features. And in the case of leaderboards and matchmaking, you may not even be able to touch the code to begin with since it's the game's code not yours.

I redesign large systems for companies as a living. And I can tell you without a doubt it's easier to redesign from the ground up then try to link up with countless Legacy systems. But in this case they don't have that opportunity, since those systems all exist in a public manner. There are some tricks of the trade to keep Legacy systems working, such as making the changes invisible to them, but all of this requires tons of work and testing with mission-critical software.

I see posts all the time saying things like how hard can it be to let people change their names. It can be ridiculously hard. I've had to hire people at exorbitant prices just because they know a language that's been out of use for a decade, and pay them to get up-to-date with our systems. The magic of technology is making it look easy. But that doesn't mean everything is easy.

I have a few friends who had used their real names for their IDs when they first purchased the PS3 years ago, and have regretted it ever since. This news would benefit them!

I have no intention of changing my ID either, been using it since I set up my PS3 account. Sometimes it bugged me enough to want to change it. That was just me having a moment though, now I have no regrets about it. Plus the massive headache that could come from changing it isn't worth the risk of everything being borked.

Hey all, new PS4 owner here (Spidey finally swayed me). I had a one month trial for PS+ but that’s run out already. Are there any good places or any particular times to look for deals on the 1 year memberships? I have a 20% off code that came with my system so I was thinking of using that to buy one direct from the PS store but didn’t know if better deals could be had.

Also, if I do use that 20% off code, does anyone know if I add PS+ to my cart and also something else, will it give me the PS+ price on the other items? ( ie, something that’s on discount for Plus members but since I’m not a Plus member it wouldn’t normally show discounted price, but since I’m in the process of joining it might?)

Thanks in advance for any help and tips, folks!

I don't think you can use the 20% coupon for PS+ subs, as I believe pre-orders and subs don't work with coupon codes.
