Heads up: Firewall Zero Hour is a price mistake for $10 at GameStop. According to a corporate email they are honoring the price. It was supposed to be $19.99. Sale starts today.
 
So, I just jumped on the bandwagon thanks to the $200 deal-- can I really not play my PS3 PSN purchases (LBP3, SSF2HD, etc) on the PS4, or is my account messed up? I see the games in my library on the web, but on the PS4 they aren't there.

Sorry, dude. PS3 games don't appear on PS4 because they can't be played on the PS4. Don't ditch your PS3 anyway. It still has some life left in it.

God of War is $17 at GameStop and Detroit is $20 at Best Buy, so Amazon will probably (maybe?) match if previous years are anything to go on.

If I could do it all over again... (indulge me this moment)

I would have bought PS Now for $80. At least 50% of the games I've bought and played this year are on it, and I have no plans of ever returning to them.

PS+ benefits were lucrative this past year and I would have bought a 12-month sub for $40. I'm not sure if it will be worth it in the future now that they're getting rid of PS3, Vita and crossbuy platform games.

I would definitely pick up a PSVR bundle because they're cheaper than they were last year. Moss + Astro Bot is ideal, but you probably need something with Move controllers to save you the hassle in the future.

As mentioned above, God of War and Detroit are at historically lowest prices. They are two of my favorite titles of the year and recommended to everyone who enjoys games.

I would buy Shadow of the Tomb Raider for $30 now and save myself the headache of all those trophy glitches. I paid $20 more just to play it earlier and get fucked.

I have a bunch of other regrets, like Assassin's Creed Origins, Shadow of War, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete and Persona 5, which I bought for significantly more and still haven't played. I want to consider others like Fallout 4 GOTY, Far Cry 5 Gold Edition, Prey Digital Deluxe Edition and Wolfenstein II Digital Deluxe Edition, but I know I won't play them anytime soon either. There are also a shitload of other cheaper titles that I won't mention here because I've gone on too long and I doubt anyone has read this far.

I actually read your entire post, and I commend you for acknowledging that you could have waited to buy a lot of those games. I used to be like you during previous generations, but I've learned the art of patience and not getting caught up in the hype of newly released titles over the past few years, and I think I'm better for it now. I've been trying not to pay more than $10 per game for current generation titles digital or physical, and I've actually been very successful with this endeavor. Just today, I got Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Uncharted Collection, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition at GameStop new for $10 each for my PS4 and found a used copy of Mass Effect: Andromeda for my Xbox One at Family Dollar for $5. That's a lot of gaming for $35. Yes, they're old. And I'm OK with that. I've trained my brain not to get excited at mentions of the new Red Dead Redemption and Spider-Man. I'll get around to them eventually...with all the patches and DLC included. :)

Thanks for the answer. That's unfortunate.

The PS3 has been in a box for a long time now. Right now we have more gaming systems than hdmi ports on the switch box... I was looking forward to revisiting those older games. Too bad.

Well, PS3 still has one thing that PS4 doesn't - free online multiplayer. Even with the current $40 for a year deal, I still don't want to pay for Plus. I can still join games on some of the more popular PS3 games without having to buy a membership which is great. But the downside is that some of the multiplayer game servers for PS3 titles will be shutting down in January 2019.

I already have just about everything I would want that's in this sale too. I really don't regret buying games like God of War and Detroit at launch though because I'm happy to support single-player gaming. The only game I can say I regret buying at launch this year is Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar sure as hell didn't need my money on day one and I honesty find the game to be dull. I had a lot more fun with AC: Odyssey and Spider-Man as far as open world games go.

The other downside, besides living in the past and limiting yourself to multiplayer for games that everyone has moved on from, is that you miss out on the free games every month. That $40 sale price on Plus more than pays for itself.

Eh, I used to have Plus in the PS3 days, but I have so many games in my backlog already that the "free" games don't really do anything for me especially since you lose access to them once your sub runs out. And it would be nice if they gave you the option to purchase the "free" games which you can't once they've been claimed as a Plus game which they don't. The only upside for me is the discounts that they offer, and I don't buy that many AAA games which is mostly what receives the discounts, and those are usually nominal. But this debate has been had in this thread thousands of times with no real winner, so we'll just agree to disagree about the value of Plus and part as gentlemen.

What you're saying contradicts it self. PSN plus games aren't free if you're paying for a subscription service.

I will agree that it more then pays itself off though. Eventually you'll get some content you're interested in.

Anyone know how to get Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen on vita? People mentioned you just need to transfer it via PS3, but it's not registering. Soul Reaver transferred fine though. Any help is appreciated.

I know you can stack years, I had like 4 of them when target sold them for 15. But I also have kids and Christmas is around the corner. Dropping 60 right before BF and then 40 right after on my own hobby is a no go.

I mean sure, if I was single I'd just buy ten years of ps+ at 40 and forget about it. But the reality of the situation is that my sub runs out 3 weeks shy of the best time, and I could fix that for 12 bucks or whatever and then save 20 next year. It's a reasonable solution within my hobby budget. Spending 40 right now on something I don't need [since I resubbed 3 weeks ago] isnt.

Don't get me wrong, I totally get the idea of stacking. But holding to budget is very important to me, because budget discipline is important to me in an addictive hobby like this where i could easily justify spending money on shut I don't need.

You are going to have to bite the bullet somewhere. If you spend $10 for one month you don't really ever save $20 dollars. You end up spending $50 for 13 months. And you never get the monthly savings of a 12 for $40 membership.

The question is do you really want to save money in the long term.

That seagate 2tb external 3.0 usb drive thats always on sale is typically the cheapest option.

Backup plus slim 2tb. $63 on amazon atm. Remember if you are replacing the internal drive it needs to be the thinner drive, forget the actual dimension.

I have a WD and it's awesome. I'd definitely buy that one if I didn't have one already. I paid about the same for a 3 TB one. Mine is tiny and is smaller than my phone.

Don't know how the stock on these are going to be but the BB I went into today ran out. It's a bit strange since this is a Black Friday Deal and with most retailers starting their BFD early, there may not be any for the actual BF.

That would be me. I was wrong about Blood Omen. I bought that on sale recently as well, and cannot get it to transfer either. I assumed because Soul Reaver transfered that Blood Omen would too. Sorry about that man.

Don't let the 18GB fool you. The game is MASSIVE. It took me about 93 hours to complete the "story" and there is still A TON of things to do. I love the game to death and would have EASILY be in my top 3 games of the year, but the fact that I can't pause during Offline Play really irks me.
