The only thing I can tell in this thread is the high number of people who’ve never played PES. It is a great game even if you don’t like sports titles.
 
Well I'm excited to finally try a soccer game that's not Fifa (which I haven't played due to the massive "surprise mechanics" issue) as for the racing game I have no interest in.

Same. I’m a huge soccer fan. I watch a lot of MLS (Galaxy, LAFC) , La Liga (FCB) and Premier League (Tottenham) games ever since i discovered the Reddit live streaming page. PES will be my first soccer game.

Funny thing happened. After fairly recently bitching that Life is Strange season 2 hadn't been on sale yet, I found out how long it's gonna be before the full thing is out, now that it's finally on sale, I really don't care anymore. I definitely find that I'm buying far fewer games on the ps4 these days and my gaming money tends to go towards my Switch. I kinda feel like the upcoming switch exclusives are better, at least on paper anyway

I played (and still own) the original FIFA on Genesis. I really liked that game despite knowing jack squat about soccer at the time. I probably have not played any other soccer game, though I recall being mildly interested in Winning Eleven 7 (alternate name for PES series) back in the day. I'll at least give this one a run through, which is more than I can say about many PS+ titles.

 
One of my favorite games I got as a kid was NHL 96. I didn't know teams or anything but just choose one I thought was OK and learned the players. Was super fun playing it 2 players for sure. You don't have to know anything about something to play a fun sports game. I'm going to try the PES game too. Maybe i'll find my old flame for sports games. I think it died long ago with NBA Hang Time.

EA needs to market a digital title in the mold of NHL 94.  Make it a base game with roster packs every year.  Charge $19.99 for the game with whatever current roster there is and then allow users to download updated rosters every year for a small price.

Shit would PRINT money and it would be better than that garbage rehash NHL they put out every year.

Man. I debated holding onto all my physical drpgs for vita. Sold most. Guess i should have held out.

Mary skelter was worth playing. I got the plat. Not the best drpg on vita but has some interesting ideas for the genre.
 
Unexplored unlocked edition is amazing. This is a real deal 'action' nethack style roguelite. It really captures the feel of identifying potions, hidden puzzles, death around every corner, etc. HIGHLY recommended.

Which is why EA will never do it... The good news is they don't have an exclusive contract with the NHL so anyone could make a game like this.

Also, I played thousands of hours of NHL 94, and 96. 96 was my favorite growing up but 94 has the nostalgia that the sequels couldn't capture.

Anyone use Gamefly in here?  I usually used the cheap gift certificate method to renew my membership.  Went to renew today and it looks like they have silently removed the ability to purchase gift certificates on their site.  Looks like it's time to cancel since I do not see value in the regular price.

 
My backlog is too massive for Gamefly. Also was never happy with used purchases after a while with their games having chips. So pretty much ignore them now.

 
My only experiences with Gamefly was doing the free trail and then signing back up for another month whenever they offer restarting for $1. I usually stick with a game for a while once I've started it so I doubt it would be cost efficient for me to be signed up full time.

That was my game as well....who needed fights when you could pick up Game Misconduct penalties with Don Sweeney for "Abuse of Official" when you got the ref lined up and laid him out.

The first of the new Battlefronts is online only with a couple single-player training mission.

The second one actually has a short campaign, but is still mostly online multiplayer focused

Gamefly has had long standing issues with their used games having chipped edges.  In 2007, I bought a Wii game from one of their used game sales and it had really bad chips all around the edge.  Then in 2013, I bought two Xbox 360 games, one of which was a two-disc game.  All three discs looked just like the Wii game from 2007.

Now it's 2019 and people are still complaining about their used game purchases having chipped edges.  I don't know what Gamefly is doing to their games before they sell them, but whatever it is they've been doing it for a very long time and it causes chips in the discs.

Ah that is unfortunate. I've lucked out and all my stuff came looking brand new basically. Win some lose some. Granted I picked up mostly rpgs so that may be why.

My guess is the cardboard sleeve Gamely uses to ship games just doesn't protect the discs that well. I've only received a handful of games from them over the years but at least two that I can remember were chipped and couldn't be played, had to ship them back for replacements.

 
If you have a sub and you get a badly chipped disk, just rent the title and swap disks.  I think the chipping is occurring when they resurface the disks.

 
I was under the impression that disc chips were due to USPS sorting machines and the lack of protection in the gamefly shipping envelopes.

That's a bummer. I've been renewing like that for years now. Looks like it's time to cancel for me as well.

 
So I just opened my PS4 Pro and am finally joining the PS4 owners ranks.  I waited til today because I was up against my lovely Comcast monthly data cap and I figured there would be updates, etc.  Going thru the box and I found a 20% off coupon for the PSN store!  And it expired yesterday...Any chance it still works?  I'd test it now, but I won't get to fire it up until I get back from work.

If you contact Sony customer support they'll give you a replacement code.
